2019 Dec Let there be (beach) house!   Beach and Bargrooves. Starts chilled but you will end up on your feet.   The pre-millennials will recognize the HedKandi homage. When CDs were still a thing and labels could make money, compilations such as the HedKandi ones were a must and introduce a whole generation to house in all its forms and iterations. We paid for them , discovered tunes and artists curated by the music directors of the labels. A very different landscape to the A.I. spotified generated playlists which due to the algorithm merely selects a very narrow sample what you are "supposed" to like.   Here is an attempt to resurrect the genre with current tunes. There will be about 9 to 10 episodes in the “Let there be House” series, hopefully each with its unique flavour.   No particular order but for the fact that we will go up tempo throughout the uploads.   First episode runs from 112 bpm to 120, yet manages to get you on your feet.   Needed to get out of the progressive trance vibe and needed some happy house! 2019 Aug What is Nu Disco? (again..)   Edited the title since i used it way back then. Appears I am still unsur eof waht Nu Disco is...   First current set for 12 months with a lot of 2019 releases. In China, other sets should follow.   For those enjoying the last rays of the European summer, take the set to the beach, for those who live at the bottom end, take it to the gym or a spin.   With the proliferation of House genres, I ended up buying a fair bit of nu disco, which prompted me to wonder what Nu Disco really is. August 2018 “For Those Who Stayed”   Chilled Progressive House with a sprinkle of Balearic Trance. I love this one, I hope you will as well.   Some context: from late June to most of July, my family went to Europe on a holiday and I stayed in wintery Melbourne. My presence here was necessary and the start of a lot of positive things, yet, I was nonetheless bittersweet and lonely. World Cup notwithstanding, (Allez les Bleus), I missed them terribly.   Hence the darker and at times chilled and softer tone, interspaced with sun rays and Mediterranean rhythms and feel.   A very, very current set (even the 2017 drops are from very late 2017. There is schadenfreude, emotions, sadness, hope. If all of it transpires, I have succeeded. Summarizes my mood at the time and it is an absolute beautiful track. Haunting vocal and the production work is faultless. Today Eli & Fur are my favourite producers and song writers. And yes, we are talking about two young British women showing that EDM has also had its #metoo moment!   Since their debut release in 2013, Eli & Fur have been perfecting a sound built around infectious melodies with deep driving bass lines topped with their distinguished brooding vocals. He is Dutch and is always good for a real floor banger, no matter if it's funky or techy. Very cool producers and looking at my hard drive, just realized I have more than 20 tracks of his!   Pray for More’s“Musical Freedom”. Do yourself a favour and check the track. Not only will you recognize what immense house classics it is the remix of (won’t spoil it for you), but you will be ON YOUR FEET and humming the tune in no time. Pray for Morerealm ranges from from funky, pumpin’ and jackin’ House to techy Disco vibes, ending up with percussive Tribal Grooves… The whole House package…   Pray for More is the brainchild of Austrian born and raised DJ, Producer, Label Owner and Club Promoter, Roland Bartha. He’s not a newcomer to this scene, having more than 25 years of experience behind the decks, including a 5 year Residency at one of Ibiza’s biggest and most prestigious clubs, Es Paradis Terrenal. First Quantum of Solace (CX Lounge) I really should start with the simple fact that I have put myself on a hiatus.. Several reasons for my current status: A) Life is currently non-linear and the pressure to keep this podcast up to what I believe should be my standards would not really bring any escape. B) I had found that laately what I uploaded was at best mundane. If I do not feel it, why should I do it? Furthermore I am currently over soulful house, I do need to really get very far away from it for a while to start feeling it again. C) I played a long set on New Years’s Eve and though not bad same non-urge to publish it. D) What happens once every two years, my library got corrupted. I had to bite the bullet and migrate to my new mac, having lost most edits and settings. To rebuild a library to the structure I need takes a lot of time and tagging and I simply do not have that luxury at the present time. But here I am, travelling overseas, facing lounge downtime, flight downtime, hotel room downtime, all those little quanta of Solace conducive to trying to redefine where I would like to be musically should life settle down a tad. My current headspace is progressive, ambient, trance-like and possibly harder-like in the near future. Playlist is approximate due to library corruption just when I had closed the set. The format is based around one or two keys, starts around 120 bpm to go to 136 and brings you down back to 122. A few on-the-fly edits, a very cheeky mashup I will get in trouble for (Rick Astley trancified really ;) and yes a bit of true trance..
