The famed electro house duo open up about their 2024 album and the challenges of touring live. In the mid-'00s, songs like "D.A.N.C.E." and "We Are Your Friends" emerged as stadium-sized anthems during a new wave of electro house that weaved in elements of rock and disco. The architects behind these hits were Parisian duo Justice, AKA Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay. Together with their Ed Banger contemporaries, they rode a craze that took over airwaves and dance floors, alongside peers like label founder Busy P and the late DJ Mehdi. Their first album, Cross, quickly became a classic, helping to establish Ed Banger as the flagbearer for French electro. Justice went on to tour a dynamic live show with spectacular lights and visuals, and later released two more albums before taking an eight-year hiatus and largely disappearing from the spotlight. Last year, Augé and de Rosnay returned with their fourth studio album, Hyperdrama, which features a GRAMMY-winning collaboration with Tame Impala. Referencing indie rock and early '90s hardcore techno, the LP sparked a revived interest in the duo—if you watched last year's Olympics in Paris, 18 minutes of their music featured in the closing ceremony. In this RA Exchange, Augé and de Rosnay talk to Resident Advisor's editor, Gabriel Szatan, about being back on the road and balancing touring with family life, a rhythm that hasn't felt natural to them after so much time off. They open up about dealing with technical issues and making mistakes when performing, despite having played countless iterations of their live shows. The conversation also touches on their earliest influences—like gaming culture and bands including the White Stripes, and how they've cultivated such a dedicated international fanbase. This episode was recorded over the course of multiple backstage conversations. Listen to the episode in full. -Chloe Lula

Julien Magalhaes a préparé cet épisode.
On verra bien… DJ MEHDI "Pocket Piano" JAMIE XX “Dafodil” ARTHUR FU BANDINI "Retrouver le soleil" ALIZAR "Vague bleue" YOA "Le collectionneur" CLAUDE "Baisodrome" SUPERBRAVO "Elli" VLURE "This is not the end" MAÏCEE "Twenty Twenty"

Podcast Overview: A-Trak & Will discuss growing up in limelight, producing versus DJing, sacrifices that come with a music career & his relationship with Kayne. Who is A-Trak: Very few DJs can jump from club sets to high-profile festival performances, to Kanye West's larger-than-life stadium shows with ease. In today's DJ culture, A-Trak holds a truly unique place. He founded 2007's most buzzworthy label, Fool's Gold, with a mission to merge all aspects of club music. The manifesto for this fusion was outlined on his first official mixtape: Dirty South Dance, which set the tone for Trizzy's very own production, each acapella or track re-edited to create something fresh. In a matter of a few months, his signature remixes (for, amongst others, Boys Noize and Simian Mobile Disco) and his original tracks (Say Whoa produced for Nike and released on Kitsune) and a collaboration with Laidback Luke (Shake it down) were gaining support from the likes of Erol Alkan, Busy P, DJ AM, Annie Mac, MSTRKRFT and Boys Noize. BUSY P welcomes Arman into Ed Banger in Montmarte. Born to bring the headbangers, indie romantics, hip hop kids and techno heads together, PEDRO describes the DNA of Ed Banger Records; a place where the integrity and energy of music is felt and expressed in the freshest, sexiest way. There's a certain magic in the air as Pedro shares his belief that “LONGEVITY is the best proof of success.” Alluding to DAFT PUNK for teaching him that “knowing what you want to do is as important as knowing what you don't want to do,” Pedro shares ideas from their synergy working together. Hinting caution to the new youth, Pedro warns “music is not something you swipe, but something you FEEL.” As important as mixing genres and people is, so is understanding the boundaries that lend themselves to the contrast which make them beautiful. Referencing the Beastie Boys 'Check Your Head,' Kraftwerk, Metallica and MC Solaar, Pedro's soundtrack reflects his appetite for questioning standards, pushing boundaries, and then bringing them all together. An old soul but perpetually cool kid, BUSY P waves au revoir to get busy again and Arman steps back out onto the cobbled streets of the 18th arrondissement. https://areweonair.com/busy-p https://www.instagram.com/areweonair/ https://www.instagram.com/armannafeei/

We meet Pedro Winter aka. Busy P, the founder of Ed Banger Records – the label that became the gateway drug for a generation of ravers and that pushed the indie kids onto the dancefloor with the sound of “heavy metal disco”. From the world-beating rocktronica of Justice to the outré electro of Mr. Oizo, from SebastiAn’s legendary remixes to Uffie’s addictive alt-pop, the ‘00s output of the Parisian label is unparalleled. In this episode, Busy P tells Chal about his evolution from teenage skate rat to Daft Punk’s manager, reflecting on the robots’ glittering legacy in the weeks after their split, and explains why the boundless creativity of the late, great DJ Mehdi was so crucial to Ed Banger’s success. Plus: some never-before revealed information about what’s inside Daft Punk’s helmets. Wuh Oh has gained recognition for singles including ‘Saxy Beast’, ‘Softstyle', ‘Zita’, ‘How Do You Do It’, and ‘Pretty Boy’ (remixed by no other than Hudson Mohawke) as well as his remix of Myd’s single ‘Together We Stand’ released via Ed Banger. The producer has recently been working on a plethora of remixes for the likes of Nothing But Thieves, Everyone You Know, Howl & Hum and more, with 2021 also set to bring in some exciting collaborations. The rising artist has already received unwavering support from some of the biggest names in the industry including Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Sega Bodega, Jamz Supernova, Dance System, Busy P, Ed Banger and key tastemaker platforms including i-D Magazine, Wonderland, Dummy, Crack, The Fader, Colors and Mixmag where he was named a ‘One To Watch’ artist for 2020. Wuh Oh has become renowned for his hyper-energetic live sets which see him merge DJing, prodigious keyboard playing and self-styled interpretive dance whilst performing in flamboyant custom-made outfits. Last year, the Glaswegian artist was set to perform at the likes of Glastonbury, Lovebox, Reading & Leeds, The Great Escape and more which have now been postponed due to current circumstances. Most recently he delivered 'Life', a collaboration alongside Belgian modern house selector, The Magician. We want to hear from you! Busy P has influenced multiple waves of dance music. First, he managed Daft Punk from a very young age, when he also met Armand. Then he founded Ed Banger Records and led the charge of French Electro, when he met A-Trak. The trio reminisce on decades of Franco-American friendships, record collecting, and bringing a hip hop and indie ethos to the dancefloor. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Arrêter de danser ? Jamais. Everyone knows the hits but few people know the history. David tells us about his early beginnings as a hip hop, disco and funk DJ. We talk about his days as a promoter in the biggest Paris nightclubs in the mid-90s, where he booked many US DJs and gave early exposure to Daft Punk, Busy P & DJ Falcon before they blew up. Very rare candid conversation with the mega-star. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Busy P. Feat. Mayer Hawthrone - Genie An Exetended Edit / Mix By Mr. Turner https://hypeddit.com/track/y02gw7 Pedro Winter (born Pierre Winter; 21 April 1975), also known by the stage name Busy P, is a French DJ, music producer, record label owner, and artist manager. Winter managed Daft Punk from 1996 to 2008 and currently manages Cassius and artists on Ed Banger Records, a label that he owns and runs. Winter was born on 21 April 1975 in Paris, France. He grew up under the influence of heavy metal, hip-hop, and rock that would later show in his music. He discovered electronic music in 1992 with his brother, Thomas Winter. Shortly after, he started DJing at the What's Up Bar and organizing the events Hype at Folies Pigalle and then Smoker The Palace with David Guetta. Pedro met Daft Punk in 1996 when he was a law student; the soon-to-be-famous duo asked him to be their manager, and he obliged. In 2002, he created Headbangers Entertainment, through which he managed various artists including Cassius. A year later, Winter founded the label Ed Banger Records, a music division that first signed Mr. Flash with the release "Radar Rider", then signing Justice, followed by SebastiAn in 2004, and later Uffie, DJ Mehdi, Mr. Oizo and more. In 2008, he stopped managing Daft Punk to focus on his label and music career as Busy P. For Phoenix's debut album, United, Winter performed on a Rapman synthesizer in the song "Funky Squaredance". His remix single of Fancy's "What's Your Name Again" was a club hit on its release. The music video for this was again created under the Ed Banger Records label. Pedro was married to Nadege Winter, head of public relations at Parisian boutique Colette. His brother, Thomas Winter, an indie and electro house vocalist, is a former tattooshop owner.

"THE DEEP CONTROL" presents a series of podcasts ! Marc de la Haye (Bern / Fribourg, Switzerland) BIO: Marc gave his attention to electronic music such as House and Techno when he started doing radio emissions for a local student radio at Fribourg. After some months in a duo project, he decided to team up with Bronson, Gesang- & Klanglos and Sonidy. They founded the label DIFFIKULT together in April 2015, a House and Techno label which started up as an event label and later became one of the leading labels in the city of Fribourg. Being part of the audience in December 2015 at “Transmusicales de Rennes” was a turning point for Marc. Inspired by what he witnessed at this festival, he started to focus more on atmospheric and shamanistic sounds in his DJ sets. Ever since Marc de la Haye is blurring the lines in-between House and Techno and is step by step bringing his unique style to perfection. Aside his work as a DJ, Marc is the man behind the events and bookings of DIFFIKULT, communication manager of the Duplex Electronic Weekend in Fribourg and part of the committee of electronic music of his favourite club: Fri- Son. Marc de la Haye stands for ethereal, atmospheric and shamanistic Tech House and Techno music in different intensities. He's been booked alongside international artists such as Soukie & Windish (URSL / DE), Busy P, Para One and Boston Bun (all Ed Banger Records / FR). Furthermore Marc has been playing in several clubs all over Switzerland and has been featured in several international podcast series.
