Anthony Years episode. And just like last time, we are joined by local Solid-State assassin and good friend Ty Palmer to discuss what is all of our favorite designer from this era.  For a guy that designed some of the best-selling games of all time, during the pinball's peak era you would think that there would be a lot more known about this legendary pinball designer, but sadly there isn't.On this episode of the show, we try to piece together all the little arcane bits of data and information that we have collected over the last 18 months, to try and shine some light onto this unsung hero of the industry.Warning: Adult language is used by adults in this episode.Support the show

Your host, Raman Sehgal, discusses the pharmaceutical and biotechnology supply chain with Victor, covering: Falling in love with medicinal chemistry and ending up experiencing the culture shock of North East England! Why Victor fell in love with working on a variety of projects at CROs/CDMOs The benefits of solid state chemistry and its value in pre-clinical formulation development The starting story of Solitek and the decision not to take the easier path to becoming consultants His views on the market outlook and how the application of AI will impact the development pathway Victor obtained his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Seville in 1998 before moving to the UK, where he built most of his professional career. Originally trained as a synthetic and medicinal chemist, he began his career at High Force Research and Medivir. He later transitioned from drug discovery to early development, marking the start of his journey in solid-state science at Pharmorphix. There, he progressed to Projects Director and later Site Manager, playing a key role in the company's acquisition by Johnson Matthey from Sigma-Aldrich. Victor then spent five years as Head of Physical Sciences at Almac, leading one of the largest solid-state teams in Europe and providing pharmaceutical companies with expert support in crystallisation, polymorphism, and material characterisation. After more than 20 years in the UK, Victor returned to Spain to co-found Solitek, continuing his mission to deliver solid-state and preclinical development services to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. He currently serves as Operations Director, driving the company's growth and innovation in the field. Please subscribe, tell your industry colleagues and join us in celebrating and promoting the value and importance of the global life science outsourcing space. We'd also appreciate a positive rating! We're talking about a simple technology that can fundamentally reshape the energy industry by transforming electricity more efficiently and with way less physical space than what's been done traditionally.Take an EV charger, for example. You need to get the exact electricity flow right. Usually, that would take a few parking spaces' worth of transformers. With DG Matrix, you can do it with a simple power stand smaller than your refrigerator. This is still the case even if you've got solar, batteries, or other distributed resources all mixed in together. They can handle all the streams of electricity in and out. It's clear the industry is loving this too. Shoot us a Text.Happy hump day, auto industry! Today, we're covering how BYD is integrating premium autonomous driving tech into its entire lineup of cars. Plus Hyundai is getting in on solid-state EV batteries and Youtube is more popular on TVs than on phones.Show Notes with links:Chinese automaker BYD is going all-in on autonomous driving as it ramps up its challenge to Tesla's EV dominance. BYD announced that its "God's Eye" self-driving tech, featuring autonomous overtaking and remote parking, will be standard across all models. The ultra-affordable BYD Seagull, priced at just over $9,500, will also receive high-level autonomous features. The automaker's stock hit an all-time high following the announcement, climbing 4% on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. From the Daily Pushback Email team: “The price gap is staggering. BYD's smart-equipped Seagull? $9,555. Tesla's cheapest China-made model? $32,000. Ford's entry-level Mustang Mach-E? $39,995”“Affordability and reliability move units—and Chinese EVs are delivering both at a pace that should make U.S. automakers nervous. Two out of three new cars sold in China this year will have some level of self-driving tech, according to industry estimates.”Hyundai is making a major move in the EV battery race with its upcoming all-solid-state battery pilot line. The advanced tech, set to debut in March, could significantly boost range, charging speeds, and energy density, positioning Hyundai as a leader in the evolving EV landscape. The company is investing over $9 billion in EV battery development over the next decade, including LFP, NCM, and all-solid-state options.Hyundai aims to mass-produce all-solid-state batteries by 2030, with prototype EVs featuring the technology expected this year.General Motors and other industry leaders are expected to attend the opening ceremony, signaling growing partnerships.Other automakers are racing to develop solid-state batteries, with Honda revealing a solid-state pilot line of EVs last November, and Toyota aiming for commercialization by 2027-2028.YouTube is officially more popular on TVs than on phones, with over 1 billion hours of content streamed daily on television screens. As YouTube solidifies its dominance in streaming, new features continue to blur the line between traditional TV and digital video.YouTube remains the most-watched streaming service in the U.S. for the second year, according to Nielsen.Platform updates include an improved TV layout, interactive features, and the ability to watch Shorts and live streams on TV.YouTube TV has surpassed 8 million subscribers, while YouTube Premium and Music have exceeded 100 million (including trials).CEO Neal Mohan emphasized YouTube's role in reshaping television: “The ‘new' television doesn't look like the ‘old' television.”Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

Join Dave, Scott and Stephen and I as we catch up with the latest going ons in the Haste The Day world. We talk about the bands latest single, Burn, and resigning with Solid State, and how all of that came to be as well as what the guys are looking for at this stage in their careers. We get a bit heavy and talk about the ending of the band and subsequent reformations over the years. What it was like to deal with the back and forth nature of having the band be in and out of their lives. The guys open up about the struggles of being labeled a "Christian band" and the hardships they faced having to live up to others perceptions of who and what they were supposed to be. We look back on "Attack of the Wolf King", hear some funny memories recording "Meet Me Half Way" and how it was dealing with that record not performing well then versus how the perception of that record has changed in the decade since its release. In this episode, Dr. Xi Dou, co-founder and CEO of Hytzer Energy, discusses the current state and future potential of solid-state batteries (SSBs). He highlights their advantages, including higher energy density, much higher power density and intrinsically improved safety compared to traditional lithium-ion and other solid-state batteries, and explains the scientific and manufacturing challenges that hinder solid-state battery's commercialization in general. The conversation touches on the root causes of thermal run-away mechanism in conventional lithium-ion batteries and highlights why solid-state batteries address this safety issue; cost reduction potential, with polymer-based SSBs being more compatible with existing production lines. Dr. Dou also outlines key market applications with stringent safety requirements and demanding performance, such as flying taxis and premium electric vehicles. He further describes ongoing innovations, including advanced designs of lithium-metal anodes and anode-free batteries. He concludes with insights into future advancements, including batteries with energy densities exceeding 500 Wh/kg, and the readiness of large-format SSBs for commercial applications. Gibson has never been known for their amps. Though we may revere certain models, they pale in collectability with those made by Fender of the same era. After years of slow amp sales, Norlin, the owner of Gibson from 1969-1986, decided to start a new amp division under its own name, Lab Series. To design the new line, they turned to another division they owned, Moog, and they were tasked with making a transistor amp that sounded like a tube amp, and looked traditional, yet cutting-edge circuitry. Today, we look at the Lab Series line, and go through the unique features that made this a favorite for B.B.
