Defectors from the ‘New Right' say that sexism is a feature, not a bug of modern-day conservatism.New York Magazine's Sam Adler-Bell published The Young Women Leaving the New Right, detailing the experiences of conservative women who say that rampant misogyny within the space is pushing them out of a community they helped build. From demanding that women stay home and out of public life to advocating for the repeal of civil rights law - some conservative women have reached their limit. But host Brittany Luse wonders: will this change of heart stick in the voting booths? Or is this just more of the same?To answer that question, Brittany is joined by Editor at Large of the 19th and NABJ President, Errin Haines. Errin helps unpack the link between the ‘new' and ‘old' right, white women checkered political history, and how searching for community can sometimes lead people down dark paths. After 8 years, 900 beers, and more movie debates than we can possibly count…this is it — the final episode of Beer and a Movie. Our last film — the one we could not end without reviewing — is The Legend of Billie Jean: the definitive film review of this underrated masterpiece and our love letter to Corpus Christi, the city where BaaM was created. The takes on Billie Jean get surprisingly heated For the beers, we keep it meaningful. We start with Martin House Brewing's Peace Be the Journey — a toast to the 8-year journey we've all been on together. Then Joe pulls out something truly special: Barreled Souls Brewing's Honey Pot, a gift from Dave over a decade ago, saved for exactly the right moment. And because it's the last one, we lean into it. We talk about what Beer and a Movie might've looked like if COVID hadn't changed everything, shout out the many recurring guests who became part of the fabric of the show, and take time to say a genuine thank you to everyone who listened, supported, and shared a beer with us along the way. Carlos is here to help send us off the right way, and in a perfect bit of full-circle timing, Joe's long-dreamed-of guest finally makes an appearance: Dave's wife, Errin, with a surprise pop-in that feels like it was always meant to happen. It's the end — so we let it be. One last conversation, one last round, and the only way we knew how to go out. PS: Fair is fair.

Dieting and emotional eating often go hand in hand. Emotional eating is often a response to deep-rooted emotions such as trauma, stress, anxiety, or depression, while dieting is the most common approach used to combat emotional eating. When dealing with uncomfortable feelings, it can be difficult to sit with them. We often try to escape from them by self-medicating with food, exercise, shopping, or anything that gives us instant pleasure, which drifts us away from our fitness goals. Fitness and health are not a simple equation of dieting, exercise, and food as we perceive. The true solution to achieving long-term health and wellness lies from within. Understanding your emotional triggers, how they shape your behavior, and working on your transformation is key to making lasting positive results. It is only when we take an honest look at ourselves and connect with our inner selves that we can truly make progress in achieving our goals. In this episode of Fall in Love with Fitness, Errin Smith shares with me her journey, how her emotional eating and dieting created havoc in her body, and how she transformed her life. Learning how to work on our emotional triggers and build a healthy relationship with food without dieting and demonizing some food groups. Topics Covered: 0:02 Breaking Free From Diet Mindset and Self-Image Constraints 1:45 Emotional Eating and Suppressed Emotions from Childhood 3:52 The Emotional and Physical Struggles of a Fitness Influencer 13:15 Erin's Journey Through Extreme Diets and Food Relationships 21:31 The Pressure of Perfection and Worthiness in California 22:40 The Impact of Diet Choices on Gut Health and Wellbeing 31:40 Finding Inner Peace and Leaving a Toxic Environment 35:07 Transforming Health Through Real Food and Mindful Living Key Takeaways: Emotional eating is not about food: Errin emphasizes that the root of emotional eating lies in unmet emotional needs rather than dietary choices. Impact of diet culture: The conversation sheds light on how societal standards and diet trends contribute to disordered eating patterns and self-worth issues. Significance of self-acceptance: Finding peace with oneself is crucial, as Errin notes the transformation that occurs when you start "craving yourself."
