Danny and Debo are immediately back as they realize they have miscounted the number of episodes they have done and need one more before we can gear up for episode 300! Join us for all the fun! MBF Episode 299 - The Fake Razor Ramon.(mp3)
The year is 1996 and WWE is trailing behind WCW, fueled by their mid-year acquisitions of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash and their involvement with the nWo. While it would be a good year and some change before WWE would have their own fired up acts like Stone Cold Steve Austin and DX, WCW ran away with the wrestling business, something no one has done before, or since for that matter. Not one to lay down and roll over when it comes to the wrestling business, Vince McMahon, with advice from ace scum lawyer Jerry McDevitt, sought to disrupt WCW's success in a lawsuit claiming WCW was using WWE's IP in Razor Ramon and Diesel whenever Scott Hall and Kevin Nash would appear on TV. Normally this would have just been a silly lawsuit, except in an effort to prove it, WWE announced the returns of Razor and Diesel in the fall of 1996, only to only deliver in name only. Twitch.tv's Shay (@imaShayWoods) and TVMBLE (@tvmblez) return to the podcast to watch the debuts of "Razor Ramon" and "Diesel", watch them challenge the British Bulldog and Owen Hart for the tag team titles, discuss Criss Angel being a magical cuck, and talk about the time Shay and TVMBLE switched places at a convention in 2019. All that and more on a wild episode! Welcome everyone to 1997! In this episode of Wrasslin' Raw, the boys ease into 1997 like an old man easing into a warm bath. Owen Hart and Mankind help to smooth the way, but Furnas and LaFon taking on Fake Razor and Fake Diesel settles things back into reality. The debut of Shotgun Saturday night got interesting when Marlena flashed the crowd, Shawn Michaels continues to dig at Bret Hart whenever he can, and Vader shows up for his match and DOGS IT. Stop shitting up the place!
A WWF TV show targeted at adults that aired late on Saturday Night sounded like a great idea, however, Shotgun Saturday Night was not it! Coming off of episode #1, the WWF was hyping up an unveiling of "Sunny's Sexy Home Video." The entire night is teased with rumors of who could be in the explicit tape with Sunny. When we get to finally see the film, it is revealed that it is Tickle Me Elmo's older brother Fondle Me Elmo! In what could only be described as bizarre, Sunny does indeed fondle Elmo. We also get another moment that misses the mark. Todd Pettengill sings a duet with The Honky Tonk Man. There are two problems with this, The Honky Tonk Man's mic doesn't work and he can't sing either. It might go down as one of the worst things in this era of pro wrestling. The Sisters of Love were arrested in New York for solicitation. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are in WCW, but that doesn't stop the WWF from using the names Razor Ramon and Diesel. Speaking of The Bad Guy, the boys talk about the greatest wrestling theme songs of the late, great Scott Hall. It's not just the Executioner going downhill! In this episode of Wrasslin' Raw, the boys put aside their reservations and sit down to examine In Your House 12: It's Time. This Pay Per View has matches featuring Marc Mero and Hunter Hearst Helmsley, a tag team championship match featuring Fake Razor and Fake Diesel, and Bret Hart taking on Psycho Sid for the championship. We also get a surprise ECW match, or at least something that looks like one!
In 1997 the WWF pulled the plug on the fake Razor and the fake Diesel. They were sent to the USWA following the the 1997 Royal Rumble where they would stay until their blow-off "Loser Leaves Town" match in the summer of 1997. But it was the inclusion of Vince McMahon into this story that is the most head scratching moment of the entire feud. Today, we look at that promo and the rise and fall of the fake Razor and fake Diesel team.
Oh my god oh my god oh my god! In this episode of Wrasslin' Raw, the boys view one of the most notorious and influential episodes in wrasslin' history- Pillman's Got a Gun! Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brian Pillman take storytelling to the next level, while the Sultan and Alex “the Pug” Porteau take jobbing to the next level. The Wildman Marc Mero and Fake Razor have a terrible match, and we get to see everyone giving up on the Stalker's gimmick at the same time. Join Team Pug!
On today's episode, Timothy Styles and "Cut Throat" Cody Hancock discuss the big maing, Ridge Holland, Big E, the NWO, the importance of self value, Taz, Kurt Angle, and Fake Razor. Week 61 and we are building on the Hollywood Hogan and Rowdy Roddy Piper feud with a couple of good things happening on the 11/4/96 edition of Nitro! We got the main event of Lex Luger and Booker T with Sting making an appearance in the rafters. After the match we get a phone call from Eric Bishoff regarding negotiations with Piper and then we end it with a Hogan promo burying Piper. We move to that same nights RAW and it gets a little more entertaining. Weaved throughout the show is Stone Cold making his way to Brian Pillman's house, eventually getting there and all hell breaks loose! Plus we have a very unforgettable main event of Fake Razor vs. Marc Mero, but this one is worth tuning into just for the Stone Cold/Pillman greatness! Follow us on Twitter: @bangdangpodcast @podcastdang @routeddesigns
Week 68 and we are on the go home show for WCW and Starrcade 96! We start with the 12/23/96 Nitro where we have a Hogan promo bashing Piper, the main event of Rick Steiner vs. Jeff Jarrett and then we end the show with another Hogan promo. This time, Bischoff comes out dressed as Piper before the real Piper comes out and all hell breaks loose! Unfortunately we had to watch RAW as well so we get the main event of Bret Hart vs. Fake Razor. Meh.

JR and Mikey dive into the dark days of the WWF and In Your House 12: IT’S TIME!! It’s time for Sid to defend the WWF Championship against Bret “The Hitman” Hart! It’s time for Carny Vince to dance with Flash Funk! It’s time for Jim Ross to defend the hilarity of the Fake Razor and Diesel! It’s time for Gord Abdul-Gretzky to join the Nation of Domination! It’s time for The Undertaker to battle Terry “Bam Bam” Executioner in whatever the hell an Armageddon Rules match is! It’s time for Steve Austin to jump everyone from behind! And it’s time for Shawn Michaels to take all the drugs and do guest commentary and take bumps. But it’s not Vader Time. All that and how the Mean Street Posse has an in with the Greenwich gossip circles on the latest TLD.
A very strong PPV that saw Sid take down Bret Hart in the main event - thanks, in part, to a surly Shawn Michaels on commentary. Flash Funk makes his PPV debut, Fake Razor & Diesel get a title shot against Owen & Bulldog ...Stone Cold does a few run-ins...Terry Gordy as the Executioner ends up in the river beside the arena during his Armageddon Rules Match v the Undertaker...
Episode Thirty Seven - Fake Razor and Fake DieselThe worst of the Monday Night Wars has finally arrived. In desperate times, desperate men do desperate things and after waving goodbye to Scott Hall and Kevin Nash and then seeing them revolutionize the business of WCW, Vince McMahon waged first a legal battle over the likeness of his characters being portrayed down south, and then to top the desperation, he repackaged the Razor and Diesel characters and handed them to two other men! What could possible go wrong from here? Confusing heel/face dynamics and even stranger claims to a tag team title shot, this is a sleeper episode as we long dive into the history of the gimmick and the "highlights" of their time in the costumes! Putting "fake" in front of a name is bound to work....right? Somebody had Better Call Creative!

Season 6 - Episode #52: Fake Razor Ramon and Diesel This is one of the most insane behind the scenes stories in WWE history. So Kevin Nash and Scott Hall left for WCW and started kicking the WWE's butt. So Vince decides to use the Razor Ramon and Diesel gimmicks again but with new people. It was a complete insult and a disaster but somehow led to the WWF/E winning a lawsuit against WCW?! Find out how they pulled that off in this episode! WCW Monday Nitro has taken the lead. The kids who worshiped Hulk Hogan are now teenagers and young adults wanting something more edgy. WWF isn't yet fully committed to taking the product in a new direction. An upstart more mature company is getting noticed and fans are treating them as an equal alternative to WWF. All of this comes to a head September 22, 1996 from the CoreStates Center in the home of Extreme - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!15,000 of the hardest to please wrestling fans on earth showed up for the tenth installment in the In Your House series. Kevin asks Matty Treats if he is one of those fans. As usual we comment on what the front row is doing and, wait a minute! They don't work here! Why are ECW wrestlers Tommy Dreamer and Sandman along with Paul Heyman sitting in the front row? We talk about wrestlers that appear but don't have matches, like the legendary Fake Diesel and Fake Razor. Discussion of Jim Cornette's wrestling talent. Rodeo Sunny appears. Jim Ross begins his heel turn. Mankind is in phenomenal shape. Kevin makes too many anime references. Then we talk about one of the most violent matches we've seen since this podcast began and how it matches up with our nostalgic memories. All of this plus our trademark match breakdowns, wrestling history, side stories, and bad jokes.Tonight's matches include: Savio Vega vs. Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw (with Uncle Zebekiah) in a Caribbean Strap Match. Jose Lothario vs. Jim Cornette. Owen Hart and the British Bulldog (with Clarence Mason) vs. The Smoking Gunns with Sunny (WWF Tag Team Champions). Mark Henry vs. Jerry "the King" Lawler The Undertaker vs. Goldust (with Marlena). Shawn Michaels (WWF Champion) (with Jose Lothario) vs. Mankind (with Paul Bearer). The Retro Network's own Kevin Decent (@MaskedLibrary) along with his two best friends “Sweet” Matty Treats (@MattyTreats) and Matt “the Educator of Excellence” are revisiting the WWF's In Your House pay per view events over the course of the worldwide quarantine.
