The Monday Night Wars hit a major turning point as Wrestling War Zone returns with JT & Chad breaking down WCW Fall Brawl 1997 — featuring one of the most unique and chaotic WarGames matches of the era. At the center of the show is the highly anticipated WarGames: nWo vs The Four Horsemen, with Curt Hennig's shocking betrayal of the Horsemen completely changing the match and its aftermath. JT & Chad dive deep into the storytelling, psychology, and long-term impact of this pivotal moment in WCW history. Beyond WarGames, the guys also break down the rest of the card, including Lex Luger & Diamond Dallas Page vs. The Outsiders, the continued rise of WCW's midcard and Cruiserweight division, and how the nWo's dominance continues to shape the company heading into the final stretch of 1997. JT & Chad cover: • WarGames 1997: nWo vs Four Horsemen and Curt Hennig's betrayal • The fallout and impact on Ric Flair and the Horsemen • Lex Luger & Diamond Dallas Page battling The Outsiders • Cruiserweight division highlights • WCW's momentum during its peak 1997 run • How Fall Brawl fits into the larger Monday Night Wars Was Fall Brawl 1997 a defining moment in WCW's dominance during the Monday Night Wars? And how well does the show hold up today? Step back into the chaos as Wrestling War Zone continues its deep dive into one of wrestling's most competitive eras. WCW is in Phoenix and Ric Flair has a massively over ally and honorary fifth Horseman in Sir Charles Barkley. In the Main Event, The Macho Man Randy Savage defends the WCW World Heavyweight Champion against Lex Luger as Luger's recent alignment with Jimmy Hart gives him the support of the Dungeon of Doom. Hulk Hogan and Sting are also in the mix. In a meeting of hosses The Giant and Scott Norton slap meat in the middle of the ring. WCW World Tag Team Champions Harlem Heat defend their titles against the American Males. Follow us on Instagram @GetItAgainPodcast Got 2 (or more) words for us?
Halloween Havoc produced one of the most bizarre moments in wrestling as The Yeti helps The Giant destroy Hulk Hogan by furiously humping The Immortal One. With Hogan out indefinitely, the Dungeon of Doom are free to run rampant in Nitro as Lex Luger and Meng team up to take on the American Males and The Shark battles Scott Norton. The Four Horsemen have found a third man as Ric Flair returns to the stable. Sabu takes disco to the extreme as Disco Inferno hopes to just stay alive. The Dungeon of Doom have an insurance policy for Halloween Havoc and it's trapped in a 13-ton block of ice. One of the most infamous debuts in wrestling history takes place during this episode of Nitro as The Yeti joins the fight to destroy Hulkamania. The Main Event picture continues to be overcrowded as Sting and Lex Luger team up against Harlem Heat but with Hulk Hogan, The Macho Man Randy Savage and The Giant all getting involved. The cruiserweights put on another showcase in a tag team match with Eddie Guerrero and Mr. JL teaming up to take on Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko. Shot of Nostalgia: Shuffle continues with your host Acefield Retro, and this week we revisit April 4, 1993, WrestleMania IX from Caesars Palace in Paradise, Nevada. The first fully outdoor WrestleMania. The World's Largest Toga Party. A Roman coliseum theme complete with live animals, trumpeters, and commentators fully committed to the presentation. But beyond the spectacle, this event represents a pivot. This episode traces the road into WrestleMania IX through the March and April 1993 Wrestling Observer Newsletter coverage, capturing a company navigating lawsuits, scrutiny, roster instability, and mounting pressure. Bret Hart entered as WWF Champion. Yokozuna had been elevated as the dominant Royal Rumble winner. Hulk Hogan had returned, but his long term direction was fluid rather than locked in. The structure of the card reflects that instability. Shawn Michaels versus Tatanka opens with an Intercontinental Championship match that creates movement without definitive closure, immediately signaling protection over payoff. The Steiner Brothers versus the Headshrinkers provide one of the night's most cohesive in ring performances, reinforcing how effective the tag division could be when execution was clean. Doink versus Crush leans heavily into character psychology and spectacle, highlighted by the double Doink finish. We examine the originally planned mechanical stunt that was scrapped and what that decision says about the era's emphasis on visual moments. Razor Ramon secures a direct win over Bob Backlund, continuing his steady rise. The Tag Team Championship match between Money Inc. and the Mega Maniacs unfolds through referee bumps, disqualification tension, and spectacle driven pacing. We revisit the reported late reshuffling that removed the originally planned tag title blow off and centered Hogan more prominently on the card. Lex Luger's WrestleMania debut against Mr. Perfect introduces rope leverage controversy and is layered with behind the scenes anecdotes that contribute to the uneven rhythm of the night. The Undertaker versus Giant Gonzalez becomes one of the most criticized finishes in WrestleMania history, prioritizing theatricality over decisive resolution. The championship picture ultimately defines the event. Bret Hart versus Yokozuna is framed as a generational collision until Mr. Fuji's salt interference shifts the WWF Championship. Moments later, Hulk Hogan enters, accepts an impromptu challenge, and captures the title in approximately twenty seconds. With three decades of hindsight, this episode examines whether that closing decision reflects creative confusion or calculated business pragmatism. The Observer context suggests urgency. The optics suggest an audible. The result reshaped Bret Hart's reign, altered Yokozuna's trajectory, and placed Hogan back on top during a volatile moment for the company. WrestleMania IX is remembered for its ending. It deserves to be studied for what it reveals about transition, pressure, and how quickly direction can change when stability becomes the priority. Welcome back to The Lawcast! This time our hosts cover WCW WrestleWar '91, featuring a WarGames match with The Four Horsemen against Sting, Brian Pillman, and The Steiners.Dusty Rhodes has returned to WCW as booker and thankfully livened things up. He delivers what is probably the best WCW show since early 1990. On top of WarGames we also have Lex Luger vs. Dan Spievey for the United States Title, Doom vs. The Freebirds for the Tag Titles, and more.Plus we discuss AEW's Brody King conundrum, WWE Elimination Chamber, Chris Jericho's contract, and what's in the box that was teased on Raw.
Kliq This is back with another 11Soft hangout that starts with Big Kev vs. the concept of "checkout time" and immediately spirals into hotel paranoia, road life rules, and the eternal question of whether your toothbrush has ever been through some things. From there, Kev and Sean pivot to the halftime show discourse, why certain "talking points" become white noise, and Kev's oddly wholesome reasoning for loving physics (because if he's leaving Earth, he's driving the spaceship himself). Then it gets heavier. Kev and Sean get into the Bondi hearing, "gaslighting" vs. lying, and the frustration of watching important information stay buried forever. Welcome back to The Lawcast! This time we cover the infamous Black Scorpion reveal with Starrcade 1990: Collision Course. Of course in the main event Sting battles The Black Scorpion in a Steel Cage Match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Lex Luger challenges Stan Hansen for the U.S. Title in a Texas Bullrope Match. And most of the rest of the show is a terrible tag team tournament.Plus we discuss John Cena's last match, MJF's return, The Continental Classic, Worlds End, and the reveal that Austin Theory is The Man in Black.
The Grand Daddy of them All this is NOT, its WCW in 2000, it's the final Starrcade months before the company shut its doors and this was NOT a great show!! But were still going to tell ya about it anyways!!! Sid vs Big Poppa Pump, Goldberg vs Lex Luger, a show stealing ladder match, ambulance match, bunkhouse match, hardcore match, basically a lot of no rules type matches with different names. And to top it off, the return of Coby Nida to WretroMania Podcast network, who was in attendance at this horrific show 25 yrs ago to offer his brand of perspective!!! On this REMIX edition of What Happened When, it's' the Finger Poke of Doom! It's the "Butts in Seats" comment. It's all here! The reason WCW lost the Monday Night Wars. Not so fast! Even though those two incidents have resonated among wrestling fans for decades, the main reason WCW lost the war is actually all wrapped up in this episode. This Monday Nitro episode sucked! Even though on this show were legendary greats like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Charlotte Flair (as a young Ashley in the ring with her dad), Kevin Nash, Goldberg, Scott Hall, Konan, Diamond Dallas Page, Chris Jericho, Lex Luger, Scott Steiner, Buff Bagwell, Eddie Guerrero and more there were too many long, drawn out vignettes and too little pro wrestling. However, there is an interesting backstory to all this, and it has to do with the ratings when Goldberg finally made it to the arena.
