AJ Styles was the backbone of TNA Wrestling. Without him in the early days, Total Nonstop Action may not have been as popular as it was. AJ Styles was the one constant in the company, and you knew if he was on the card you would get a phenomenal match! When his contract expired at the end of 2013, it was time to renegotiate. All he wanted to stay in the company was the same amount of money he was getting paid. TNA Management couldn't afford that AJ Styles left the company. However, AJ Styles, working on a handshake deal, would work until the January 9th, 2014 episode of Impact Wrestling. At this time, AJ Styles was TNA World Champion, however, Magnus was also TNA World Champion by winning a tournament. On this episode, the 2 champions go head to head to crown one Undisputed TNA World Champion. AJ Styles and Dixie Carter agreed that that match would be a NO Disqualification Match. AJ knew that Dixie and her group “Dixieland” would try to cost AJ the belt and get him out of the company. Dixie Carter also knew that AJ had friends in the company, so she set up a bunch of backstage attacks and different matches to get rid of all of AJ'S friends before the main event. One of the biggest moves in pro wrestling history was when TNA Wrestling moved to Spike TV. This happened right after WWE Monday Night Raw left Spike TV to return to the USA Network. TNA Wrestling had never been on national television before so this was a gigantic step for them. The very first match is AJ Styles vs Roderick Strong. The fans voted on the TNA Wrestling website that the very first match on the debut episode was to feature AJ Styles. This really set the pace for the 60 minute adrenaline rush. One thing that TNA did a really good job was making the X-Division very important. One big match we get is Petey Williams vs Alex Shelley vs Chris Sabin. They let them go out and kill it. Raven was the NWA Champion, however there was controversy in Canada as Jeff Jarrett would beat Raven. We are wild and young! We have just begun! Mr. McMahon announced 3 weeks ago that WWE ECW was no longer going to be on TV. In its place was the “Next Evolution Of WWE!” This new show was called WWE NXT and it would feature current WWE Superstars as Pros and current FCW wrestlers as Rookies. Chris Jericho is the newly crowned WWF Undisputed Champion after defeating The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night. The Monday Night Raw featured Chris Jericho defending his championship against Stone Cold Steve Austin in a steel cage match. Just as Stone Cold was going to win Booker T slammed the cage door into his face allowing Jericho to win. Now we look back at the infamous Supermarket Brawl between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Booker T. As Booker and Vince McMahon arrived in the building Ric Flair gave him a skybox. Stone Cold showed up dressed as a firefighter and chased Booker out of the building. As Booker was getting away he stopped at the Green Frog Grocery Store. Stone Cold followed him inside and Austin opened up a can of whoop ass in one of the greatest segments of all time. "Lord of the Ring," the Feb 18th, 2010 episode of TNA Impact Wrestling. Hulk Hogan presents Abyss with his WWE Hall of Fame ring, declaring that it will make Abyss stronger than Hulkamania and a god among men. This moment not only solidified Abyss as a top contender in the company, but also marked the beginning of a powerful alliance between Hogan and Abyss. This partnership saw the two wrestlers work together to dominate the TNA roster, with Abyss becoming a key player in Hogan's faction, Immortal. AJ Styles, under the mentorship of Ric Flair, beats up the new number one contender and 8 Card Stud winner, The Pope D'Angelo Dinero, and leaves him laying in the ring. This idea of AJ Styles being the next Ric Flair was not well received by the fans as AJ Styles was already a top guy in the company and the face of TNA Wrestling. Also in one of the most infamous moments in TNA Wrestling history, Samoa Joe was kidnapped by NINJAS. After the kidnapping, Samoa Joe was taken off TNA Impact TV, and when he was brought back, the storyline was never mentioned again. This was a major disappointment for fans as it was a bizarre and uninteresting storyline that came out of nowhere and had no real purpose or resolution.
