Happy Going! We're all getting punchy heading into the weekend, as if the weekend will be a breather for any of us. David Waldman effectuates our weekending KITM, and I facilitate that with this summary, I hope. Donald K. Trump pardoned a corporation, yet has not appointed a horse to Senate, which might be more of a late term thing. Polytheism seems to be wearing thin in Trump/Musk circles, with Elon Musk's pride goething before his fall. Thou shalt bow down thyself only onto Trump in Cabinet meetings. Road Trip After Hours w/ WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and Host Mac Davis
Teddy Long invites us into the unfiltered world of professional wrestling, bringing decades of ringside experience to a conversation that spans from Hall of Fame revelations to backstage brawls that never made it to television. The wrestling legend shares his genuine excitement about Lex Luger's upcoming WWE Hall of Fame induction, offering a refreshingly positive perspective from their years working together. "I never had not one problem out of Luger. He was always nice to me," Teddy reveals, providing contrast to Luger's own admissions about his difficult past. When our discussion shifts to current WWE storylines, particularly the John Cena heel turn and WrestleMania buildup, Teddy defends WWE's methodical approach: "They turned him heel. Now you got suspense. People are wondering now what's next." His old-school perspective on patient storytelling stands as a thoughtful counterpoint to today's faster-paced entertainment expectations. The most riveting moments come when Teddy pulls back the curtain on genuine locker room altercations, recounting how Road Warrior Hawk and "Dr. Death" Steve Williams once locked themselves in a room to settle their differences physically – a stark reminder of wrestling's rougher past when disputes were handled differently than today's corporate environment.Whether you're fascinated by wrestling history, curious about today's product, or simply enjoy unfiltered conversations with legendary personalities, this candid discussion with Teddy Long delivers authentic insights that only someone who lived through wrestling's most transformative eras could provide. Join us for stories you won't hear anywhere else, told with the straightforward honesty that has made Teddy a beloved figure in professional wrestling.Send us a text

Episode No. 695 features artist Cannupa Hanska Luger and curator Ken Myers. The Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University is presenting "Cannupa Hanska Luger: Speechless," an examination of the complications of colonial histories from an Indigenous perspective. "Speechless" particularly focuses on how narratives, myths, and histories are constructed through the concept of the cargo cult, which developed as a result of Western military campaigns that delivered supplies to foreign lands inhabited by Indigenous peoples. These cults formed around the provisions that were delivered by the imperial forces (such as radios), the very groups that were colonizing Indigenous lands. The exhibition was curated by Apsara DiQuinzio and remains on view through July 6. Concurrently, Luger's work may be seen in the 16th Sharjah Biennial, "Breath(e): Toward Climate and Social Justice" at the Moody Center, Rice University, and in "Indigenous Identities: Here, Now & Always" at the Zimmerli Art Museum, Rutgers University. Luger is an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes of Fort Berthold and is Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara and Lakota. His work, across a wide range of media, extends cultural awareness and enables action. His work has been presented in solo or two-person shows by the Public Art Fund, New York; the University of Michigan Museum of Art; the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, Mass., and more. Works discussed on the program include: A single-channel version of Luger's Future Ancestral Technologies: New Myth, 2021; Luger's extended Mirror Shield project; and Luger's Uŋziwoslal Wašičuta installation series, which celebrates the Transportable Intergenerational Protection Infrastructure (TIPI), 2021-. Myers is the curator of "Painted with Silk: The Art of Early American Embroidery" at the Detroit Institute of Arts. "Painted with Silk" looks at how US schoolgirl embroideries made from the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries helped build and extend ideas around nation, gender, class, and religion. It also includes contemporary embroideries by Elaine Reichek that repurpose the form of earlier embroideries and investigate their constructions of gender, class, and race. The exhibition is on view through June 15. Instagram: Cannupa Hanska Luger, Tyler Green.

As shoppers are sacrificing themselves at America's remaining retail stores and half-closed shopping malls in their holy quest for suspect bargains, Bob and Greg celebrate another BLACK FRIDAY by smoking lots of weed and watching BLACK FRIDAY (1940) in this surprise mini-episode. BLACK FRIDAY is a batshit cross between a Universal monster movie and a Warner Bros gangster flick. It stars BORIS KARLOFF as a well-meaning but appropriately mad scientist who transfers the brain of a mobster into the body of a kindly English professor from an upstate New York college (Stanley Ridges??? in a dual role). BELA LUGOSI is underused as a Hungarian mob boss, but a little bit of Bela is better than no Bela at all. Don't try to make too much sense of this one. Just vape and enjoy the craziness from Curt Siodmak, who wrote the Universal monster classic THE WOLF MAN the very next year. Bob and Greg also talk about the new SALEM'S LOT on Max, as well as A RETURN TO SALEM'S LOT (1987) where iconoclastic director SAM FULLER (40 GUNS) stars as a Nazi/vampire hunter--or I should say "NAZI KILLER." Yeah, Sam Fuller, staking Nazi vampires and shooting them with a Luger he took off a slain SS officer. Four stars. This episode was recorded totally spur of the moment, so we couldn't round up the full cast. Please let us know if you want us to do more of these mini-eps. Come back next month for our NOSFERA-TWO CHRISTMAS where MATT ZOLLER SEITZ joins us to pair weed with the 1922 and 1979 versions of the vampire epic in anticipation of the release of Robert Eggers' new version CHRISTMAS DAY. A lot of news and noteworthy shows are either around the corner or in our rear-view mirror, Creative Team fans! We are going to discuss them all in length! We got Bash in Berlin coming up for the WWE and we just witnessed an epic All-In at Wembley Stadium from AEW. Ron and Cole give their thoughts and predictions on these events. From there, it's time to get in our time machine and rewrite some history! SummerSlam 1993 was supposed to be the culmination of Lex Luger's meteoric rise to the top of World Wrestling Federation. Though he came out victorious, it was by disqualification, and the title cannot change hands via disqualification. A handful of months later, Luger just never got back to that spot again. Today, The Creative Team will right these wrongs and discuss what they would have done post-SummerSlam 1993 in a special Take it up with Creative! Tune in now

Recorded August 2022. This episode of WCW Monday Nitro is one of Nick's top wrestling shows ever. He recounts how he recorded the replay of this show on VHS, in addition to some other adult-oriented items on that VHS. Hey, we were coming up on WCW's adult-themed pay-per-view, Road Wild, so why not? Lex Luger would beat "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan for the WCW Championship on this night, and even though he only held the title for five nights, this show still has one of the greatest moments in wrestling due to many factors. Also, Ted DiBiase joined the Steiner Brothers after leaving the nWo, Curt Hennig and DDP are in the midst of a heated feud, much like Lee Marshall and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, and so much more on this episode of Nitro. -- Follow us on Twitter/X [@_piccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio] You can subscribe to The Straight Shooters on the following platforms: [Apple Podcasts] [Spotify] [iHeartRadio] [Amazon] [Audacy] [TuneIn Radio] [Pandora] and wherever else you get your podcasts! shooterspod.com Exclusive Patreon content: [patreon.com/shootersradio] Facebook: [The Straight Shooters] --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/shootersradio/support
Your Stupid Minds is back! Did you know it's the Olympics? We have a special Olympic-size episode for you, with Dolph Lundgren's 1994 film Pentathlon! Eric Brogar (Lundgren) is an Olympic pentathlete competing for East Germany in the 1988 Olympics. For those of you who are normal, the pentathlon consists of five events: swimming, shooting, horseback riding, fencing, and running (the modern pentathlon has replaced horseback riding with some Ninja Warrior parkour stuff). Brogar wins the gold to spite his evil and abusive trainer Heinrich Müller (David Soul), who is also a big wig in the Stasi, East Germany's secret police. Also to spite him, Brogar defects in the sloppiest way possible at the Seoul airport and runs onto the American team bus. In retaliation, Müller murders Brogar's dad, and then the Berlin Wall falls two months later. Brogar is depressed, and spends the next four years in Los Angeles drinking, smoking, and watching a tiny little television while somehow maintaining perfect muscle tone and body fat ratio. He works at a greasy spoon and his boss John Creese (Roger E. Mosley) discovers he's a gold medalist, and immediately starts training him so he can cash in on endorsement deals. You know, all those million dollar Nike sponsorships pentathletes are known to receive? Müller is now also a neo-Nazi and travels to LA to raise funds for a terrorist attack on a local Holocaust museum peace rally, but upon arriving he learns that Brogar still exists and lives in town. Since this is the go-go ‘90s and he thinks he can have it all, surely he can perform this grisly terrorist attack and satisfy his personal grudge at the same time, right? After a bike-by Luger shooting at the beach, Brogar escapes to his girlfriend's hideaway cabin (possibly the same cabin from the 3 Ninjas movies) but Müller and his goons find him. He's kidnapped and taken to the Holocaust museum so he can watch a rabbi explode on a tiny TV inside the terrorists' van. Can Brogar escape and stop the attack, which conceivably is the only possible reason why he would be there? You'll have to listen to find out!
In this episode of Wrestling War Zone: The Monday Night Wars, JT Rozzero & Chad Campbell dive into the Monday Night Wars from 4/28/97! They catch up on their personal lives for a few minutes and then get into a Flair & Piper shooting back at the NWO, Luger & Giant continuing to roll, Meng on the warpath, Brian Pillman's prayers, Rockabilly sputtering out, a classic night of Raw including the surprise return of Jim Neidhart and much more. So sit back, settle in and join JT and Chad as they work their way through the one and only Monday Night Wrestling War era!
“Don't slate broccoli” The panel of peril stub out their cigarette, cigar, and pipe under the heel of their cowboy boot and head into a convenience store that is showing this week's film, Loaded Weapon 1 (Gene Quintano, 1993), for some reason. Detectives Colt (Emilio Estevez) and Luger (Samuel L Jackson) are the prototypical chalk + cheese = dynamite buddy cop team. Colt is a tortured soul who dines on microwave burritos and laments the loss of his precious dog Claire. Luger is the family man who dines on take out pizza ‘round the table with his ‘loving' family. Can they unravel the mystery of the Wilderness Girls cookies, and discover General Mortars (William Shatner) and Mr. Jigsaw (Tim Curry)'s wicked plan? Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ET5XJqPAW0 ********PLOT SPOILER ALERT******** The dastardly duo is seeking a microfilm that contains the recipe to disguise delicious cocaine as delicious cookies. As schemes go, it's a bit of a doozy, and Mortars has no compunction about sending helicopters and bazookas and men dressed as girl scouts after his enemies (and eating piranhas). Just what did the panel think of this week's movie, pray tell? How can they improve upon the Mortars' cookie-laundering plan? And who will be christened this week's most diabolical? https://twitter.com/diabolicalpod https://www.instagram.com/diabolicalpod/ https://www.facebook.com/diabolicalpod Email diabolicalpod@gmail.com
Its July and July used to mean Bash Time! Join Shawn and his co-host from The Shit Take Keith and the Backbone of the Backbone, Logan Crosland as they live watch the Bash 88 from Baltimore from July 10,1988. Shawn's live experience at the show, Nikita with hair, Arn and Tully's last big show, typical Shawn Sting and Tommy Young hate, Jim Cornette in a straightjacket above the ring in a cage, the ridiculousness of the Triple Cage Gimmick and logic, Dusty at an all time physique peak, the out of nowhere Ron Garvin turn, Luger's wedgie, the awful finish to the main event and so much more. Oh yes and lots of wrestling history lessons and trivia between the three throughout the show. This is a fun listen so watch along with us!
The Rock throws shade at Juventud Guerrera on Raw, and Juvi replies by delivering a People's Elbow on Kidman - petty but still fantastic. The Raw main event features Chris Jericho vs The Rock, while WCW presents Hogan & Flair vs DDP & Luger in Nitro main event.

On September 6, 1943, 28-year-old World War II veteran Howard Unruh ate the breakfast his mother made him, then armed himself with a Luger pistol and walked calmly through his Camden, New Jersey, neighborhood, shooting everyone in sight. He told police afterward he'd had a kill list of specific people he'd felt had wronged him, but by the end of his 12-minute rampage, 13 would be fatally wounded, three of them innocent children.
