Welcome to another episode of Astrology Investigates - the second series from your Astrology Aunties Christina Rodenbeck and Sally Kirkman alongside their regular monthly astrology updates, Astrology Talk. In Astrology Investigates Christina and Sally turn detective and use their astrological lens to investigate a new topic each month by answering a question. This month's question is ‘what do retrograde planets mean in my birth chart?' When it comes to birth charts, nearly everyone will have at least one planet in retrograde—it is a pretty common cosmic occurrence. Most people have heard of ‘Mercury Retrograde,' and associate it to when things are going very wrong! Well actually, retrograde planets are often mistakenly believed to be weaker or functioning improperly; when in fact, they may be more potent or intense, acting on a more internal level. So what should we do in that case? And what about the other planets? What impact do those have and what does it mean in terms of how we should react and behave? 2GG Podcast: Guys Bathrooms Having A Hospitality Bowl PART 1 by Two Girls and a Guy
Welcome to 2024's first episode of 'Astrology Talk Investigates!'In this episode, hosts Sally Kirkman and Christina Rodenbeck discuss the question, ‘What does Frankenstein tell us about the future now? Hmm, you might be thinking, ‘what can we learn from a book written over 200 years ago?', but few works have had the lasting impact of Mary Shelley's gothic masterpiece, Frankenstein. A product of its author's profound imagination, the novel not only offers a cornerstone of English literature but also proves itself as an enduring astrological marvel. Mary Shelley, a woman deeply interconnected with the intellectual and philosophical movements of her time, was born under a very distinctive astrological sky. Notably, her birth chart features Pluto at 29 degrees Aquarius on the midheaven, a placement that has resurfaced in contemporary times, echoing the resonant themes of her work in current times. Understanding the influence of Pluto, known in astrology for its association with transformation, death, rebirth, and the deeper shadowy facets of existence, is pivotal to grasping the relevance of Mary Shelley's life and her iconic creation. Her story was penned during a period when Pluto last journeyed through Aquarius. Much like Shelley's era, we find ourselves now on the cusp of another Plutonian era in Aquarius, igniting discussions on the recurrent themes of innovation and the potential hazards they present to mankind. This episode is another insightful trip analysing a topic through the lens of the stars - happy listening! How empowered do you feel when it comes to your pleasure? In this week's episode of the #LiveWellBeWell podcast, we're speaking to Bibi Brzozka. She's a VITA certified Love, Sex and Relationship Coach, Holistic Sexuality International Speaker and Energetic Lovemaking Guide. After 15 years in Finance and Banking, she took the leap and embarked on a personal growth journey into sexuality and experienced her first full-body orgasm at age 35. We loved this episode as it's all about empowering ourselves to tap into intimacy, teaching us how to improve our relationships as well as our pleasure - whether solo or partnered. This episode as well as Bibi's courses on her website are focussed on opening your heart and mind on this topic, connecting them to the experiences we have and want to have and also, to our pleasure. It's also about changing our sometimes skewed mindsets from the social narratives we're fed and instead, encouraging conversations around these topics which are often seen as “taboo” or “awkward” even when between close friends and partners. Bibi shares advice and tips around recognising and undoing any shame you might feel around this topic – a common issue for a lot of us. We discuss conscious sexuality, what it is, how to explore it and also reframe what sex is. We'll also discuss orgasms, the different types there are, tips to help you achieve full-body orgasms, and the pleasure and intimacy that goes beyond orgasms. Do you have self-love practice? Great if you do, but if you don't, don't worry as we'll also discuss how we can create those practices - we've got you! It all starts with the self, right? Finally, we also learn how we can improve connections with our partners, tips for bringing up what can sometimes feel like awkward conversations with partners, and how to articulate wants and desires to them, as we go through some exercises with Bibi. After this episode, you will definitely have tools that will help you to take control and feel empowered when it comes to your pleasure. Happy listening! How stressed are you right now? It's January so chances are you've been stressed about something already. Do you know what your stress triggers are or do you just know when you've reached your peak stress levels? Don't worry, chances are you're not alone in that. We've brought back a guest from a previous episode on our series to talk about the s-word. Mithu Storoni is an eye surgeon and brain researcher-turned author. She is interested in how the brain responds to uncertainty and performs under pressure. Her first book, "Stress-Proof", is a science-based guide to optimising brain health and mental resilience and she's currently working on her second book, ‘Hyperefficient' due in 2024. In this episode we discuss what stress is, how to recognise it in yourself, how to know what your stress triggers are and we also discuss how some people's personalities are better suited to stress. Regardless if that's you or not, stress affects each of us differently and we all have different tolerance levels. However, what is common for everyone is that it can take a toll on our physical and mental health, and we now know it can contribute to the development of chronic health conditions. Hopefully after this episode you'll feel less stressed after learning some tips and advice on how to understand, recognise and manage your own stress. This episode is sponsored by Natural Cycles. Are you one of the 3.5 million people in the UK impacted by infertility? With egg-freezing becoming more popular, it can be hard to know what information to trust. That's why we have invited Dr Larisa Corda, an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and one of the UK's leading Fertility experts, to join us on this week's episode of the Live Well Be Well Podcast to discuss all things fertility. With egg-freezing on the rise (even before Jennifer Aniston's recent news around the topic), there is a lot of information and misinformation out there not just about this but about fertility in general, so we wanted to do a podcast and lay (excuse the pun) it all out there. Are you considering having a baby in the near future, or are you single and not sure of your options? If so, this episode is for you! We'll discuss the process of egg-freezing, how an orgasm can play a vital role in ensuring a healthy pregnancy, the mental health aspect of fertility, and how men can and should be included in the conversation. We'll also cover overall health and how it can impact fertility, debunk myths and misinformation and discuss IVF. Tune in to learn more about your options and what you can do now to help with fertility. Catch the full episode now. Lab grown meats, Deliveroo and a ‘grab and go' mantra, has become our current food system. Yet, has our demand for this food culture, due to our demanding lives and increasing population, led to damaging effects on our health as well as a damaging effect on our planet and overall food system? We hear of the importance and worry of the extinction of animals but are we as aware of the extinction of our foods? Did you know we could eat some 300,000 plant species yet we eat a mere 200 species globally, and half our plant-sourced protein and calories come from just three: maize, rice and wheat. Or that there are 1500 types of banana, yet globally we mass produce only one - The Cavendish? Our ancestors weren't eating eggs and avocado on toast, fish and chips or mountain burgers, so what were they eating and how did we get to the foods we eat today? In today's episode of the #LiveWellBeWell Podcast we speak to journalist, author and presenter of the BBC Radio 4 Food Programme, Dan Saladino. Dan's love of food traditions and discovery of something called “The Ark of Taste” - an international catalogue of endangered heritage foods is what led him to writing his book, “Eating to Extinction.” You might be thinking, so what if we only eat one type of banana, does it matter if we lose a type of cheese produced in Albania or a type of corn grown in Mexico? Well yes, because it means we're losing biodiversity within the human food chain which has already had a big impact on our gut microbiome and our wider health, mentally and physically. In this episode we hear amazing stories from Dan's travels all around the world as he meets farmers, scientists, producers and indigenous communities who are defending food traditions and fighting for change. We learn how our change in taste has evolved over the years, how historical events have impacted the food we eat today, processes and traditions we've lost but also how technology is helping to keep some of those traditions alive. We also discuss the relationship between the problems in our food systems and our health and the importance of diversity, not just in our diets but in agriculture, and the impact it is having on our own health and the planet's. www.livewellbewell.io#LiveWellBeWell Host: @sarahannmacklin | www.sarahannmacklin.com Brought to you by: @be_well_collective | www.bewellcollective.co.uk The Live Well Be Well Podcast produced by: The Podcast Guys

Being happy, is surely what most of us want, right? We're all on our own journeys to achieve it, but is there a real science behind it that we could all follow? That's what we discuss with Paul a behavioural scientist at LSE, who has been called the Professor of Happiness having written books including Happiness by Design” and “Happy Ever After”. Paul's work focuses on the measurement of happiness, its causes and consequences and the implications for public policy. He was appointed Chief Academic Advisor to the UK Government Economic Service on Economic appraisal aka he advises governments on behavioural science and wrote the questions that are being used to monitor happiness in the UK. We explore how finding the one, having more money, education and career success is in fact not the route to happiness and why. How single, childfree women are happiest and actually how it is the balance of purpose and pleasure is of utmost importance, when it comes to happiness. Topics we cover: What is happiness? How is it measured? Is happiness a choice? Social Narratives Is happiness subjective? Four common myths of happiness Past experiences Purpose vs pleasure How can we design our environment to impact happiness? How can we retrain our mindset around happiness? What does LWBW mean to Paul? Across 8 episodes of our debut podcast series Unlearn to Learn, we've established that obesity is nothing if not a complex disease. Studies have shown that obesity is multifactorial and everything from socio-economic factors to poor mental health can contribute to the increase in cases over the years. With its pinpoint precision and set of diagnostic tools, modern technology has allowed researchers to explore how genetics play a role in the cause of obesity, advancing our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of weight gain and regulation tenfold. In this episode, the final episode of Unlearn to Learn, we'll be taking a closer look at the relationship between obesity and genetics with Professor Sadaf Farooqi. Sadaf joins Alexander to discuss how genetics and biology can interact with other factors, such as environment, in increasing a patient's risk of obesity. They also explore the science behind the leptin hormone and its relationship to weight regulation. Behavioural modification and lifestyle adjustments are the first step in treating obesity. Whilst these are important in treating obesity, it is difficult to achieve or sustain the process of weight loss, especially long-term through these alone. Pharmacotherapy has quickly surfaced as an alternative therapeutic approach to intensive lifestyle intervention; essentially bridging the gap between behaviour changes and more intense treatment such as surgery. In this episode of Unlearn to Learn, we'll be delving into the world of Pharmacotherapy with Dr Caroline Apovian. Caroline joins Alexander to discuss what FDA approved medicine is currently being used to treat obesity, as well as some of the benefits and risks associated with drug treatment. As always on the podcast, they'll debunk some common myths surrounding obesity medication before analysing the science behind it and examining the relationship and potential causality between multiple different drugs and the disease itself. In today's society, we've cultivated an ethos of instant gratification. Life is fast-paced. The role that nutrition plays in both preventing and treating obesity is crucial. Nutrition is a critical part of both health and development. Better diet and nutrition have shown to improve health, immune systems, lead to less lethargy, and more consistent energy levels and life longevity. Whilst the causes of obesity are varied and involve a complex interplay between dietary factors and various internal genetics and external exposures, the role of nutrition is key not only for obesity but for our overall health. In this episode of Unlearn to Learn, we'll be talking about nutrition and the dietetic assessment. Through this, we'll touch upon a bespoke form of treatment labelled ‘personalised nutrition' and go on to look at the different types of diet out there, as well as the dietitian's role as part of a multidisciplinary health team. In this episode, Honorary Consultant Dietitian Mary O'Kane from Leeds Teaching Hospitals joins Alexander to discuss how various psychosocial issues and factors can affect weight, as well as eating behaviours and disorders. Unlearn to Learn is back! We rejoin the series with episode 4, focusing on bariatric surgery; why and when it's necessary, what the procedure involves and what patients can expect following surgery. To discuss this and more, Alexander is joined by Dr Lilian Kow. Dr Kow is an Associate Professor and the Clinical Director of Gastrointestinal surgery at Flinders University in South Australia. Bariatric surgery is a complex procedure to treat a complex disease. Dr Kow has visited bariatric clinics all over the world and advised and trained surgeons in the treatment and support of patients who have the surgery. Lawfare founder Bobby Chesney and Lawfare contributing editor Steve Vladeck, both of the University of Texas Law School, host the National Security Law Podcast, a weekly deep dive on national security law topics. In this second edition of a Lawfare-edited National Security Law Podcast, Bobby and Steve had a particularly useful conversation about the legal issues surrounding John Bolton’s role in the impeachment trial and about important developments in the military commissions that have been overshadowed by events in Washington. Two logistical points: We have edited this podcast down to the most substantive exchanges between Bobby and Steve. Also, this podcast was recorded on Wednesday, January 29, and thus the conversation occurred before the Senate's vote on Friday to block witnesses in the impeachment trial.
As part of Lawfare's continuing coverage of the killing of Iranian Quds Force leader Qassem Soleimani, we are bringing you an edited version of the latest episode of the National Security Law Podcast, in which Bobby Chesney and Steve Vladeck discuss the legality of the strike and what this means for the future of U.S.-Iranian relations. We edited the podcast down solely to focus solely on the discussion of Soleimani.
