Caring for the poor is very much a part of God’s heart, the heart of the Jewish faith, the heart of the Christian faith. Jesus makes it part of what it means to come follow Him. Now, there are lots of things that it means to follow Him, but helping the poor is one of only two things that is uniquely attached like this to what it means to follow Jesus. We can and should ask, 'Am I following Jesus if I am not helping the poor?'

The Word of God is clear with many examples of the mandate to give to the poor. Jesus did not come to earth to take your money and give it to those who do not have; He came to destroy the works of the devil. Let's look at this area with a fresh, Biblical worldview. “Jesus said, ‘Whatever you have done to the least of these My brethren you have done to Me.' CMM provides the principles of wise stewardship and accountability to verify the trustworthiness of our frontline servants of the Lord and ensure proper accountability so our Partners know their funds are wisely deployed.
What does the Bible have to say about poverty and giving to the poor? I want to have a God-honoring attitude on this matter, but to be honest, as a new Christian I've been confused by some of the differing opinions and ideas I've heard. Do you consider this kind of activity to be an important part of the Christian life?
BE SPIRIT FILLED
Poor does not always have to mean financially poor. Some people are poor when it comes to time, energy, or love. As leaders, we should always be looking for ways to give and share with the poor. Proverbs 28:27 tells us... 27 Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.
Deuteronomy 15:11
What does it mean to be genuinely generous and why would Jesus have to teach us about it?
Today is our first annual special benevolence offering. This offering is solely designed and designated for the poor; those who are less fortunate. We have been studying about giving to the poor over the past six weeks. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/myfaithfam/support
Over the past several weeks we have been preparing ourselves for something that we have never done. We are preparing ourselves for our first annual benevolence offering. An offering designed and designated to directly benefit the Poor - those that are less fortunate. We have been looking at some scriptures that talk about giving to the Poor. Asking ourselves do we give to the poor, and when do we give to the poor? And then last week we asked ourselves do we care about the Poor? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/myfaithfam/support
**John 12:1-6 (NKJV) 1 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead. 2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him. 3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. 4 But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's [son,] who would betray Him, said, 5 “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it. Not that he cared for the poor. People who take issue with churches that teach what God says about money and prosperity are aligning themselves on the wrong side of the table. Seems like there are some people at FFC that don't like how much we talk about it. The first murder (sin) was over an offering. You could say Judas murdered Jesus over an offering. So guard your heart when it comes to the subject of prosperity. John 12:5 (NLT) “That perfume was worth a year's wages. It should have been sold and the money given to the poor.” Should the church give to the poor? But that's not the issue here. Jesus was constantly giving to the poor. **John 13:29 (NKJV) For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus had said to him, “Buy [those things] we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor. The issue was that he was a thief. God says of His children that are not tithing that they are robbing Him. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/myfaithfam/support
I want to begin talking to you over the next few weeks about Giving to The Poor. On December 12 we are going to have a special offering to benefit the poor. It will be our first annual Special Benevolence Offering. The goal and idea of this offering is simply to benefit those that are less fortunate. We have Faith Projects. These are things that we are believing for and as a result sowing or saving towards. And rightfully so, we should always have Faith Projects. Now, our Faith Projects are directly and indirectly self benefiting. Do you know what I mean by that? For example, we are currently saving seed to sow into other churches while we believe for the harvest of our own debt free facilities. This Special Benevolence Offering is also indirectly self benefiting. What? We are going to sow into the poor specifically for their benefit. However, because we are giving to the poor it is also indirectly self benefiting. You just can't beat God giving, no matter how hard you try. The more you give, the more He gives to you. You can see the evidence of what I am saying in these foundational verses. Proverbs 19:17 - He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given. NLT - If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD— and he will repay you! ESV - Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed. NIV - Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done. CSB - Kindness to the poor is a loan to the LORD, and he will give a reward to the lender. Do you really think that the Lord is one for one in this verse? No way! When He does something it's not according to our standards, it's always "according to His riches in glory." So let's just say you will be rewarded. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/myfaithfam/support

This lesson covers many of the Scriptures that speak of meritorious almsgiving - that giving to the poor brings about the blessing of Yahweh on a person's life, most specifically in the after-life (at the resurrection of the righteous). The Scriptures are plenty and clear on this subject, but systems of religion have kept us, nay scared us, away from believing that something we do earns a reward.

We discuss the continuation of King Benjamin's address to his people. King Benjamin teaches his people the doctrines taught to him by his father and what he learned from an angel of The Lord. He teaches that all are beggars to The Lord and that we should impart of our substance to the poor and those in need. We discuss that even though we are commanded to give to those in need, sometimes we may not feel inclined to do so. Is that okay? Can that be of the spirit? Let's not not make a habit of not giving and its always better to air on the side of generosity and giving rather than not giving. Finally, we discuss the atonement and the request of the people to be forgiven of their sins, and King Benjamin's intent that they be called the people of Christ. We are spiritually begotten of Christ and become his sons and daughters through the atonement as we accept Him.

It’s understandable- but, here’s some encouragement as well as a new insight. Listen and be Blessed. #Giving #LessFortunate #Christians

Okay so today we continue covering the Giving to the Poor and Prayer Section of Matthew 6! Here we get to cover “The Lord’s Prayer” or the “Our Father” depending on your first exposure to this prayer. When Jesus instructs us how to pray, (the ONE thing His Disciples asked Him to teach them) you better believe what He shares is going to be impactful. While most of us probably have this prayer memorized, I encourage everyone to try to listen to it with new ears and be open to what God wants you to glean from it. Jesus challenged the rich young ruler to signal his whole-hearted commitment to God and to God’s people by abandoning his idolatrous attachment to his wealth, and giving to the poor. Jesus challenges us to cede to his kingly rule those areas of our lives that we ringfence, and to give ourselves to service of his kingdom as a sign of our commitment.
