Ever wondered how you can make your business work when you only have a tiny audience online? I have. When I first started my business I was desperate to build my audience on social media. I threw myself headfirst into training focused on growing my followers, thinking that I could only achieve success if I had thousands of them. But guess what…it doesn't hinge on that! This week's guest is a PRO when it comes to this subject. Ina Coveney is a business coach and host of The Global Phenomenon Podcast. She helps up-and-coming online coaches monetize their tiny audience through organic lead generation strategies before they invest time and money in audience growth. Ina reached 6-figures in her business before ever cracking 1,000 followers on any of her platforms, and her mission is to help coaches do the same. When we think about engagement it comes down to likes, shares and follows. In reality, these may be feeding the algorithm, but it's the real engagement that counts – the stuff you can control. Conversing in comments. Jumping into the DMs with true, organic conversation that isn't just focused around selling – that's where you get the opportunity to get to know your followers better. And don't forget that offers matter! It needs to be clear to your audience what you can do for them, and they need to see you are delivering on your promises. In this episode Ina shares her wisdom on; >> The value of getting to know your followers – even the lurkers! >> Sales coins: engagement vs content >> Starting non-icky conversations with your followers >> Avoiding the ‘feed friendzone' >> Types of engagement that give the biggest bang for their buck! It takes time to delve into your follower list and truly engage with the people within it, but when you give so much time to content creation, your engagement needs to match that to truly get the best out of it. Why not start a habit of engaging today? Enjoy the listen! -------------------- Find Ina over on Instagram and check out her 100 Engagement Post Ideas: 100postideas.com -------------------- I'm currently looking for 2 ambitious coaches who want to get clarity on their brand messaging so they can attract ideal clients in the next 30-90 days. If that's you, DM me on Instagram (@iamjo.ingram) the word "CLIENTS" and I'll share the deets. -------------------- If you love listening to Goals With Soul, please leave me a 5* review on Apple Podcasts - it's the way that word is spread so more people can tune in - thank you! xo
It's not about growing the audience. It's about getting to know the audience that you already have and see what you can offer them. –Ina Coveney You don't have to build your audience for your business to thrive. If you've been struggling to grow your audience or growing it but not seeing the results you want, you'll want to listen to my conversation with Ina Coveney, a business coach who helps entrepreneurs with a small audience get clients. After years in corporate, she quit her job to start her own business. We talk how she actually left, about the flop of her first course, her start in helping people leave corporate jobs, and her pivot to helping entrepreneurs who are already committed build their businesses without building huge audiences. As part of all that, we dig into ideas about what you should or “have to” do and listening to your own intuition. Ina says that online business isn't that different from in-person business — we just don't know how to start conversations online. If you've ever been cold pitched in a DM, you know about people starting conversations that don't feel good. What if you could learn to start conversations that DO feel good online? What if you could turn that into a successful business? We talk about: Translating an in-person business to the online world Knowing your ideal client (and that it's not everybody who follows you) How to connect by continuing a conversation instead of starting it Having a conversation and getting to know people without making a pitch Making social media super easy with repurposing and simple post types and how to be consistent, even when your energy isn't Continuing to move in the direction your intuition tells you to go, even if the destination keeps changing BIO Ina Coveney is a business coach and host of The Global Phenomenon Podcast. She helps up-and-coming online coaches monetize their tiny audience through organic lead generation strategies before they invest time and money in audience growth. This isn't about creating an avatar. It's looking at people who are following you (or maybe even people you are following) and seeing who feels like they might fit. Don't overthink it. Just go with your gut. Then start a conversation. See where it goes. Some people may love what you do but not be a great client. That's OK. CONTINUE A CONVERSATION. Instead of starting a conversation, you can continue one somebody else started on social media. Comment on or message somebody about something they posted. Don't think of it as getting a client, just as having a conversation. CREATE SIMPLE SOCIAL POSTS. Pull a tip or quote from something you've already written. Pick an image and write a great caption. Find a post you shared a while ago and use it again. Create 5–10 and then schedule them.

Do you have what it takes to become the NEXT GLOBAL PHENOMENON? Are you putting in work so you can yield the fruits of your labor? In this segment, Ina Coveney gives five tips to get you started in the right direction. 1. Remember the only way to fail is to QUIT. Just stick it out 2. Stop investing in things your business doesn't need right now. Look at your business and figure out what your business needs right NOW. Then invest in that 3. You have to be making $$$ money. Building your brand is not a job or company. It just makes you a marketing department 4. It's time to look at engagement in a different way than you have been taught. Think of engagement differently - engagement is how many conversations you have initiated the last week 5. Have FUN with it. Don't go and copy what other people are doing. What comes from your heart?
