Well, did we say scientist? I guess we meant nerd. Venom and Marvel's other symbiotes do certainly portray a practice that has been fascinating scientists for centuries, though. Symbiosis and more importantly mutualism is the pinnacle of interspecies relationships, but what is it, what do we know about it and what other interspecies relationships exist. Join hosts Shanti and Danny as we discuss how some species can be so intricately tied together that separation could mean certain extinction for both. ReferencesParacer, S. You either love her or hate her - there's no in between. It's a deep clear water lake with monster fish who feed on herring and Gobies to get so big.If you're like me, you have a certain learned way of catching Lake Simcoe Whitefish. Everyone's got their own style - bottom bouncing baits like the Lunkerhunt Nose Down style bait, the Meegs, a spoon, vibrato or the new craze for plastic gobies. There's a lesson in this video, I promise but when I say it you're going to say it's obvious. I've even spoken about NOT making this mistake numerous times - and yet I made it.See, my buddy Bryan and I figured that because we feel confident with the Meegs, we'd go out - get a few fish on the bait for pix and then play around with some other baits. We woke up early - got to the small parking lot on Kemp before anyone else and walked out under the city lights to a soggy muddy bottom. We marked fish but each one of those fish gave a quick blip ont he screen and disappeared. When that happened - we broke rule one: Never leave fish to find fish.Instead of trying to figure out what those fish wanted, we moved from area to area every hour until we went back empty handed. The plus side is that neither of us like to give up very easily so we made another trip together, this time in the north end of Simcoe. I even scouted the area the day before to make sure I could mark fish. I even brought the AquaVu this time - to make sure we were on rock. Again, we woke up early, got good parking and walked out to the dropoff of a large flat. We worked our confidence bait and bounced bottom all day for fish. Again, we marked fish - quick blips and moved every hour to try and find - quote "active fish". We put in a solid 8 hours and once again - went home empty handed.Monday I went to work and thought about the weekend all day. We did what everyone said to do. We moved to find active fish, we found hard bottom rocky areas and we bounced bottom. We bounced bottom with meegs, lunkerhunts, vibratos (even with a high hook grub) and still nothing. I recall even saying to John, who came out with us - "these are all popular baits known to catch whitefish here, I don't get what we're doing wrong".Tuesday came and I had the day off for an appointment. I had take the rest of the day off and decided to spend the last few hours of the day at the same spot we marked fish at. This time - I wasn't going to break any rules. Here's my rules for fishing - I tend to have more success when I follow them, although these rules are still kind of an in the works project as I pick up new information.Rule 1. Never leave fish to find fish. We moved around too much. There were fish in the spots that we were at and we had not exhausted our options for these fish before moving. Today, I am setting up the hut and not moving from this spot. Rule 2. Fish the entire water column. Don't limit yourself to one single presentation. The other times, we had only bounced bottom. We had locked ourselfs in a closed minded scenario that these fish are ONLY eating gobies and those gobies are on bottom so that's where we should be. This time - I'm going to work the entire column.Rule 3. Fish can sense any change in their environment. This rule was actually stolen from Gord Pyzer from a recent seminar he gave at the Winter Ice Expo. Instead of hooting and hollering with baits -smashing them on bottom, ripping blades - I decided to go a bit more subtle and stick with soft plastics.
