In this episode, UROONCO PCa chief editor Dr. Giancarlo Marra interviews Prof. Mary-Ellen Taplin from Dana–Farber Cancer Institute in the United States, on the results of the PROTEUS trial. The PROTEUS trial is a phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluating the benefit of adding apalutamide to standard androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in men with high-risk, localised prostate cancer undergoing radical prostatectomy.They discuss the rationale, patient selection and the results of this trial (dual primary endpoint), as well as the impact of the results on clinical practice. « On est très attachés au côté très nature, authentique, du lieu. J'ai toujours dans l'idée qu'il ne faut pas perturber le décor. On est là pour s'y insérer au maximum. »La famille de Myriam est installée sur l'île du Levant depuis 1954. C'est son grand-père, Gaëtan, qui tient un magasin de retouches pour la marine à Toulon, qui découvre pour la première fois l'île en 1954. Sa mère Denise a 14 ans et son oncle 10 ans. Sous le charme de l'île, ses grands-parents décident de reprendre le restaurant la Paillotte jusqu'en 1958. Ils achètent en 1957 la maison des Bouchat qui deviendra, après quelques aménagements, l'Hôtel Gaëtan, et qui ouvre ses portes en 1957. Il fait partie des premiers hôtels implantés sur l'île. C'est donc la 66ème saison de l'hôtel au sein de sa famille. Un établissement dont Myriam et sa famille s'attachent à perpétuer l'esprit authentique et rustique dans la tradition des médecins Durville qui créèrent ici la cité naturiste Héliopolis en 1931.Avec Myriam, on a parlé de transmission, de famille, d'authenticité, d'âme, de madeleine de Proust, de tendance, de naturisme, de nature et de fraternité. Quelles sont les maladies liées à l'eau ? Comment les traite-t-on ? Comment les prévenir ?   ​​​On parle souvent d'inégalités en termes d'accès à la santé dans cette émission : il y a évidemment la question des soins, du plateau technique, du financement des traitements. Mais en amont, il y a aussi les questions les plus simples d'hygiène et de prévention des infections : l'accès à l'eau potable et à l'assainissement. Eau de Treignac: The Purest Water in France Nobody Has Heard Of | Food Tour de FranceEau de Treignac — the extraordinary natural mineral water from a source above a village of 1,389 people in the Corrèze — is one of the most remarkable and most overlooked food products in this entire series. Today's Food Tour de France episode finishes in Ussel, deep in the heart of the Corrèze plateau, and tells the full story of a water that filters for fifteen years through granitic sand soil in the Millevaches regional nature park before emerging from its source at a constant temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius with a dry residue of just 20 milligrams per litre — among the lowest mineral content of any naturally occurring water in Europe. En Syrie, après des années de sécheresse, c'est cette fois l'excès d'eau qui frappe les agriculteurs. Dans le nord-est du pays, les pluies diluviennes tombées en Turquie ont conduit à l'ouverture des vannes de plusieurs barrages sur l'Euphrate. En quelques heures, le fleuve est sorti de son lit, inondant des centaines d'hectares de cultures et des dizaines de maisons près de Deir ez-Zor. Un épisode qui rappelle aussi la dépendance de la Syrie à son voisin turc, qui contrôle depuis des décennies l'essentiel du débit de l'Euphrate.  De notre envoyée spéciale à Deir ez-Zor, Sous les pieds d'Houssam, il ne reste que de la terre. Une terre sèche, craquelée. Difficile d'imaginer qu'il y a quelques temps, ces champs étaient complètement inondés. « Toute la récolte est partie avec l'eau, se désole Houssam. Tout ce qui devait nourrir nos enfants cette année a été emporté par l'Euphrate. C'est de plus en plus dur. Le gasoil est trop cher. Comment va-t-on se relever de ça ? Quand ce n'est pas l'inondation, c'est la sécheresse. » En quelques heures, près de 500 hectares de terres agricoles ont été engloutis. Les eaux ont détruit plusieurs stations de pompage et emporté les ponts flottants qui reliaient, sur l'Euphrate, les deux rivages. Désormais, pour traverser, pas d'autre choix que de prendre un bac. «​​​​​​ Je fais l'aller-retour tous les jours pour aller travailler. C'est un vrai coût, dénonce un habitant. Chaque traversée nous coûte deux dollars. » L'Euphrate n'a pas seulement avalé les récoltes. Il est aussi entré dans les maisons. « Toute la boue est entrée dans la maison, témoigne Ahmad. Le carrelage est détruit. » Ahmad et Rania venaient tout juste de rentrer après des années d'exil. Leur maison, construite près du fleuve, avait été occupée pendant des années par la 4ᵉ division du clan Assad. L'ensemble avait été pillé. Ils venaient de tout réparer… « On a peur que ça recommence », confie Rania. Le couple pourrait partir, mais pour aller où ?, interrogent-ils. Et pour Rania, une seule responsable, la Turquie. Le fleuve prend sa source en Turquie. Et c'est là-bas, en amont, que les barrages construits par Ankara contrôlent l'essentiel de son débit. Hassan cultive ces terres depuis trois générations. «​​​​​​​ Le fait que la Turquie retienne de l'eau a des répercussions jusque sur nos puits. Quand le niveau du fleuve baisse, celui des eaux souterraines baisse également, souligne-t-il. Et nos puits, peu profonds, d'environ dix mètres, se retrouvent à sec. » Lancé à la fin des années 1970, le vaste programme hydraulique turc compte aujourd'hui sur le Tigre et l'Euphrate quelque 18 barrages. Leur gestion alimente depuis plus de 30 ans les tensions avec la Syrie et l'Irak. « La Turquie a toujours utilisé l'eau pour régler ses problèmes politiques avec ses voisins. C'est arrivé, par exemple, lorsque la Turquie a eu des différends avec l'Irak, car l'Euphrate traverse aussi l'Irak, poursuit Hassan. Ils font pression en réduisant le débit, jusqu'à ce que l'eau qui arrive soit très faible. » Le long de l'Euphrate, les paysans répètent tous la même chose : l'eau ne suit plus les saisons, mais les décisions. Après quatorze années de guerre, il va falloir réussir à relancer l'agriculture, avec un fleuve dont ils ne maîtrisent pas le cours. Les vagues de chaleur ne pèsent plus seulement sur notre quotidien. Elles deviennent aussi un véritable risque économique. Selon une étude du cabinet Sia Partners, les canicules sont désormais le principal risque climatique pour l'industrie lourde européenne : fatigue des salariés, manque d'eau, perturbations des transports... le changement climatique s'impose désormais comme un enjeu majeur de compétitivité pour les entreprises. Avec les records de chaleur observés ces derniers jours en Europe de l'Ouest et une grande partie de la France placée en vigilance orange canicule, les conséquences économiques du changement climatique deviennent de plus en plus visibles : tel est le principal enseignement d'un rapport publié par le cabinet Sia Partners. Pour le secteur industriel, le climat fait désormais partie des variables qu'il faut gérer au quotidien, au même titre que le prix de l'énergie, les tensions géopolitiques ou encore les difficultés d'approvisionnement. L'étude s'appuie sur l'analyse de 365 sites industriels répartis dans toute l'Europe appartenant à des secteurs stratégiques comme la sidérurgie, le raffinage, le verre, le ciment ou encore l'ammoniac. Les chercheurs ont évalué leur exposition à plusieurs risques climatiques : vagues de chaleur, stress hydrique, inondations fluviales et submersions marines. Le constat est sans appel : dès 2030, près de 300 des 365 sites étudiés seront fortement exposés aux vagues de chaleur. Une fonderie, un site sidérurgique ou une cimenterie fonctionnent déjà avec des fours dépassant le millier de degrés. Pourtant, ce ne sont pas les équipements qui souffrent en premier, mais bien les femmes et les hommes qui travaillent autour. Dans ces installations, les températures sont déjà très élevées. Les épisodes de chaleur extrême augmentent donc la fatigue des salariés et les risques d'accidents, réduisent les performances, et obligent parfois les entreprises à modifier les horaires de travail, à ralentir leur cadence, voire à interrompre temporairement leur activité. À l'arrivée, les conséquences sont directes : ces sociétés produisent moins, vendent moins et deviennent moins compétitives. La chaleur entraîne également un autre problème majeur : le manque d'eau. L'industrie lourde en utilise d'importants volumes pour refroidir ses installations. Or les canicules s'accompagnent souvent de sécheresses. Certaines usines doivent alors réduire leur activité faute de disposer des ressources nécessaires au fonctionnement de leurs systèmes de refroidissement. Une industrie dépend de matières premières, de routes, de voies ferrées, de ports ou encore des grands fleuves européens. Si une sécheresse réduit la navigation sur le Rhin, si une inondation coupe une ligne ferroviaire ou si un port est paralysé, c'est toute la chaîne industrielle qui est perturbée. Même une usine qui n'est pas directement touchée par la chaleur peut voir sa production s'arrêter parce qu'elle ne reçoit plus ses approvisionnements ou ne peut plus livrer ses clients. Pour Sia Partners, le défi est désormais double. Les industriels doivent poursuivre leurs investissements pour réduire leurs émissions de CO2, mais aussi adapter leurs sites aux conséquences du réchauffement climatique : mieux gérer l'eau, protéger les infrastructures, revoir l'organisation du travail ou encore sécuriser les chaînes d'approvisionnement. En clair : le changement climatique est devenu un véritable enjeu économique. Et demain, les entreprises qui auront le mieux anticipé ces nouveaux risques disposeront d'un avantage compétitif sur leurs concurrents.

Simon Porcher est économiste et il vient de publier "Nous sommes faits d'eau", un livre qui part d'un paradoxe intéressant à savoir que même si l'eau est rare, mais elle ne coûte presque rien et par conséquent, c'est impossible pour nous de le réaliser. Dans cet épisode, nous parlons de tout ce qui touche à l'eau, du plus intime (peut-on boire l'eau du robinet sans risque, faut-il un filtre, l'eau chaude est-elle dangereuse) au plus vertigineux (pourquoi les grands lacs du monde rétrécissent, comment des États s'accusent de voler la pluie de leurs voisins, pourquoi l'eau pourrait devenir la ressource géopolitique du siècle qui vient).J'ai questionné Simon sur les fausses bonnes idées autour de l'eau en bouteille, sur les méga-bassines et leur effet rebond, sur le cycle de l'eau qui se dérègle avec le climat, et sur ce qu'on appelle l'empreinte eau, celle qu'on porte sans le savoir dans chaque jean, chaque verre de vin, chaque steak.
