It's the most wonderful time of the year: the South Side leg of the Crosstown Classic. Our neighbors to the North head down to Guaranteed Rate Field this weekend for a three-game set that will be sure to thrill the masses. Our beloved White Sox look to claim the coveted Crosstown Cup, something I'm not sure even exists any longer, at least physically. Though the history of the intra-city rivalry has been filled with cheap jabs and sneers from both sides of town, we've definitely noticed that things are a little different this year. Joining in on this observation and adding further insight is our friend Sara Sanchez, from our sister site Bleed Cubbie Blue. There are plenty of frustrations on both sides of town, but for different reasons. Sam and Janice discuss the feast-or-famine trends with the White Sox offense, while Sara lambasts the Cubs front office for a horrendous trade deadline. It's been a while since a good ol'-fashioned Crosstown trade; the trio examines Craig Kimbrel, Codi Heuer, and Nick Madrigal, as well as a brief retrospective on the José Quintana trade. Where does Madrigal fit into the Cubs' infield, and the Cubs' future? Has Kimbrel been misused on the South Side? Sara weighs in, having watched plenty of Cubs and Red Sox baseball. What's at stake for both ballclubs in this series, besides the collective mental well-being of both fan bases? In the spirit of friendship, Sam, Janice, and Sara share what they love about the other side of town. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Happy five-Year anniversary of Chris Sale's attempt to join Project Runway! On Episode 4 of The Estrogen Power Hour, join Colleen, Chrystal, Janice, and Keelin to celebrate this storied moment in White Sox history, as well as other uniform comments and what we want out of the trade deadline. Chris Sale doesn't make it work. Colleen gives a rundown on the Chris Sale Jersey Slicing of July 23, 2016 (and mixes up 1974 and 1976). Janice asks the important question of “What type of knife is in the clubhouse that you could use for this?” (stay tuned for a MythBusters-style Patreon episode). If there are pictures from the incident, send them our way. 2016 was a fever dream. The girls talk about why the 2016 season was wild AF including jersey cut-ups, the LaRoches, a team of Some Guys, Angels legend Adam Eaton, and separating Robin Ventura the Player from Robin Ventura the Manager. Chrystal still makes fun of fans for this season, which is honestly well-deserved. Uniforms, uniforms, uniforms. The EPH speculates whether starting pitchers actually do get to pick the uniform on their day. They also try to determine if there is a curse on the City Connects and whether they are good-looking uniforms or just ugly. Colleen's Conspiracy Corner. Colleen drops a conspiracy theory that Tony is the Manchurian Candidate and Miguel Cairo is managing. She's also expecting a cease-and-desist from the White Sox any day. Satire, joke, or dumb? Normalize telling men they aren't funny. If you have to say it's a joke, it isn't funny. Punching down isn't funny. Chrystal has the best recommendation for how to deflect said “jokes.” Speaking of bad jokes ... Attendance jokes are classist. The South Side isn't a monolith, and attendance jokes are boring. People have jobs, jabronis — not everyone can go on Monday night. Janice and Keelin also point out that Wrigley Field is marketed as a tourist attraction by the city. Pay the man. The Estrogen Power Hour fully supports signing an extension for Carlos Rodón. They also support paying players in general, as they discuss the 1994-95 strike and remind you to tip the workers at Guaranteed Rate Field because they're working hard to feed your drunk bodies. Trade Deadline Wish List. A second baseman, a reliever, and maybe a catcher. Yasmani Grandal was seen jogging, so maybe not a catcher. Mostly a reliever and a second baseman, because we definitely need those most of all. Sports, sports, sports, sports. Fear the Deer, watch the White Sox, or do both at once. Fraley robbed Isaac Paredes of a game-ending homer with one out in the ninth, reaching well over the left-field fence to make the catch, then threw to first for an inning-ending double play. After both teams scored one run in the 10th, Fraley gave the Mariners a 5-4 lead with a one-out RBI single in the 11th. Blue Jays 6, White Sox 2 – Grichuk homers, Blue Jays beat sloppy White Sox 6-2 Randal Grichuk hit a long home run and the Toronto Blue Jays took advantage of a season-high four errors by Chicago as well as a bases-loaded walk to beat the AL Central-leading White Sox 6-2. Grichuk hit a 451-foot drive leading off the second inning. Toronto rookie Alek Manoah threw five solid innings in his third major league start and the Blue Jays won despite another strong outing by Chicago's Lance Lynn. The White Sox were sailing along with a 2-1 lead after Lynn struck out nine over seven innings. But a shaky bullpen and poor defense spoiled things for Chicago. Toronto scored three runs in the eighth and tacked on two more in the ninth. Cubs 3, Padres 1 – Pederson, Arrieta lead Cubs to 3-1 win over Darvish, Padres Joc Pederson and Sergio Alcantara homered, and Jake Arrieta threw five strong innings for the Chicago Cubs, who beat former teammate Yu Darvish and the San Diego Padres 3-1 to take two of three. The Cubs beat the Padres five times in six games in a 10-day stretch, including a three-game sweep at Wrigley Field last week. Darvish retired the first nine Cubs batters before Pederson hit a towering home run to right-center field leading off the fourth to tie the game at 1. Pederson mimicked Fernando Tatis Jr.'s stutter step as he approached third base on his trot. It was Pederson's seventh. Alonso's implied that the balls are friendlier to hitters in a year when a number of top pitchers are about to hit free agency, and vice versa. MLB – White Sox return to 100% at Guaranteed Rate Field on June 25 The Chicago White Sox will return to 100% capacity at Guaranteed Rate Field starting with a June 25 game against Seattle. The announcement comes five days after the Chicago Cubs said they will move to 100% at Wrigley Field for their June 11 game against St. Louis. That's better, isn't it?We can all agree that the start to the season has been less than enjoyable for the White Sox, but this weekend was closer to what the team advertised this spring.A victory over the Indians on Tuesday before Wednesday's snow out paired with a three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers this weekend has the White Sox on a four-game winning streak has Chicago on a four-game winning streak and just 1.5 games behind Kansas City for the top spot in the AL Central.Friday saw the White Sox jump all over old friend Dane Dunning for five runs in the third inning before Dunning was chased in favor of the bullpen. Dunning, who was traded to Texas in December for Lance Lynn, allowed five runs on eight hits in 2.2 innings of work on Friday night.Dylan Cease was underwhelming at best for the White Sox on Friday night, allowing two runs on three hits while walking three and striking out five in 3.1 innings of work before Evan Marshall allowed another three runs in his 1.2 innings of work.An RBI-double by Yermín Mercedes, an RBI single by Nick Madrigal, and a home run by Yoán Moncada helped secure a win in the latter innings for the White Sox.After a pitcher's duel on Saturday that ended in a walk-off 2-1 win for the White Sox, the stage was set for a potential sweep of the Rangers at Guaranteed Rate Field on Sunday afternoon.Michael Kopech -- starting in place of Lucas Giolito -- was masterful on Sunday. The 24-year-old right-hander was only slated for three-to-four innings on Sunday but ended up going five for Tony La Russa and the White Sox.Kopech allowed one run -- a solo homer to David Dahl -- on four hits while striking out ten and walking none in a winning effort. Kopech is now 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 15.2 innings of work this season. Kopech made his first four appearances out of the bullpen but has since started a pair of games for the White Sox.In his two starts this season, Kopech is 1-0 with just two earned runs allowed on five hits with 14 strikeouts and one walk.Of course, Kopech was asked in the post-game media availability whether or not he would prefer to be a stater after his second consecutive starting outing."Yeah, of course, I want to go out there and pitch every fifth day," Kopech said. "But I just want to pitch for a team that wants to go out there and win."Michael Kopech wants to be a starting pitcher once again. Heck, by performance alone, he's earned it. But don't expect Kopech in the regular rotation any time soon. The White Sox will continue to be cautious with Kopech this season. The White Sox plated eight runs in the first three innings of Sunday's ballgame, including a two-run homer by Jose Abreu, and that would be enough for the Whits Sox to secure a win and a sweep over the Rangers. The White Sox will have an off day tomorrow before opening a three-game series with Detroit on Tuesday at Guaranteed Rate Field. Lucas Giolito will take the ball in game one as the White Sox (12-9) search for their fifth straight win.If you enjoy White Sox Daily, please consider a subscription.
