Mike Knox is an unsung hero of the Philly rap scene. A figure in the game since 1997 he saw the entire scene develop from Beanie Sigel & Major Figgas to present day. He's had his hand in a multitude of moments that helped push Philly rap forward to what it is today. On this episode he joins us to discuss his entire history in rap, how he forged a brotherhood with 50 Cent & Tony Yayo, the formation of G-Unit Philly (Reed Dollarz, Chic Raw were early members?), his toxic relationship with Tone Trump, his ups and downs with Philly Radio legend Cosmic Kev, breaking artists like Guordan Banks, his relationship with Meek Mill and so much more. He also discusses all his rap beefs FOR THE LAST TIME with explosive new details (sorry Gunplay) and breaks down why Pistol Pete from Terror Squad was A HUGE PROBLEM!! MK tells his life story in vivid detail for close to 3 hours and issues a STERN WARNING TO WACK 100 to stay out of the way of anyone from Philly!! This is BY FAR his greatest interview ever!! R&B/Soul recording artist Guordan Banks is our special guest in this week's podcast episode #132 which is the final episode of the season. Guordan shares a sincere and candid conversation about his journey in the music industry in addition to delivering a conscientious perspective about Black music in general. His journey includes starting an independent artist career in Philly, developing a small label/team and going on to release his hit single "Keep You in Mind" which hit the #1 spot on Billboard radio charts. Guordan provides extremely valuable information about how to organically increase the longevity of a song, the importance of slowly building a music career and the importance of playing in small markets in order to fully expand music promotion. Listeners will gain a wealth of useful information about the current state of R&B/soul music and the importance of being authentic as an artist in today's music industry. On this episode I had the pleasure speaking with PR industry leader Michelle Huff Elliott to talk about losing and gaining business, pivoting the conversation, PR Fees and more. A Baltimore native who took Los Angeles by storm in 1999. With a Bachelor’s degree from Bennett College and a Master’s degree in Marketing from LaSalle University, Michelle began working with the big boys right from the start as the International Marketing Director for Virgin Records. Where she worked with such icons as: Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, the Neptunes, Kelis and the Rolling Stones. Soon after, she moved to New York City to become the In-Store Director of Events for Donna Karan After proving herself as a major force in her field, Michelle decided to go back to her roots and conquer the entertainment industry. In 2002, Michelle decided to take the entrepreneurial path and start her very own company HUFF Events & PR, a full-service event planning and media relations boutique firm specializing in the entertainment, sports and fashion industries. She has managed events and strategic publicity campaigns for such clients as: Usher’s the Neptunes Alicia Keys’, U.S. American Bowl Half-Time performance, AIDS Institute’s New York City World AIDS Day Fundraising Gala and much more.
