Jesus is a leader who is not only wise, but also loving and compassionate. #daybydaylw Interested in learning more about becoming a devoted follower of Christ? Go to follow.lifeword.org! ~~~ As we think about David, and even as we glance into the future at Solomon, we are left longing for someone who can fight our battles, like David does, but also someone who can rule with wisdom like Solomon did from time to time. And we are left in our angst until Jesus comes along, who claims a devotion, and authority and power greater than David had, and says that wisdom greater than Solomon's was present in Jesus Himself. Those are all words and big talk, but does he really deliver, and not just every now and then, but always? Yes, Jesus does that very thing! In facing temptation, He overcomes, proving His absolute devotion to God and His word. In taking on death, He proves his power and authority by coming back from the dead. In teaching, he proves his wisdom as greater than Solomon's. So much so that Paul says that it is in Christ that all the treasures of wisdom are stored. Friends, what we are learning in this text is that we all need and desire a leader, a King. And we can search the world high and low and find some good men who have some good qualities, but they, like David, will fail. They will grow tired. They will get worn down. They will give in to temptation. They will indulge their own fleshly appetites at times. They will give way to passivity and worldly wisdom, which brings with, sometimes sudden destruction, but inevitably an erosion of what is true and good and beautiful. You can't be that king. You can't be that king for yourself; you can't be that king for your family; you can't be that king for this church. We need a greater One, a better One, a perfect One, a wise One, a devoted One! And you know what is great about this ONE. He restored the relationship between you and Himself, but not because He was tricked or coerced. Restoration is brought to us because of His LOVE for his people. HE grants full restoration. He doesn't bring you close just to keep you away from him. He doesn't bring you close to Him just to keep you at arm's length. He fully restores, brings you into his own house, as it were. Come to Him Today! Trust Him Today! He is the Only One who can save you, who can lead you in righteousness, who can restore you, who can heal you! He is the only one who can take a stony, vengeful, angry Absalom heart and melt it down and give you a new heart, new life. There will be no cold, distant embrace and kiss of formality. There will be a party, a celebration, the running of a Father to embrace his long lost son. So come to Him today! His heart has not stopped going out for you. He is calling you, commanding you to repent and come to his throne like a beggar.

In Mark 14:24 Jesus said to them, "This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many. Jesus is establishing the Lord's Supper in which we remember the shedding of Jesus' blood in His dying on the cross for our sins and we also look forward to His second coming. This is not an act which can do anything to save us or contribute to it but the drinking of the cup is a picture of the shedding of His blood.  Jesus was putting the New Covenant in place in which those who trust in the shed blood of Christ by His dying on the cross, being buried and rising the third day would become a Child of the King (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). We who have believed in Him for salvation should celebrate this fact of all that He did for us to forgive our sins and remember that He is coming again. Those who have not trusted in Him should trust Him now. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Have you trusted Him as your Savior? He can Save you if You ask Him based on His death, burial, and resurrection for your sins. Matthew 26:27-28 says And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. Jesus is establishing the New Covenant whereby people no longer go to a priest to ask for forgiveness of sins, but to the Great High Priest Jesus who died for all of our sins and in our place so that we might go to heaven.  This cup of water mixed with wine symbolized Jesus' shedding His blood on the cross for our sins. His dying on the cross was sufficient to forgive us and save us because as He was dying it says in Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. God was pouring His wrath out on Jesus for our sins.  Jesus died for OUR SINS. Right before Jesus died He said it is finished.  That means our sin debt has been paid in full and when we come to Jesus and ask Him to forgive us of our sins and save us we can become a Child of God. Have you done that?  If so thank Him today for who He is and what He has done for you.  If not, trust Him TODAY. All the Signs Point to Him Today’s reading is John 2 - 4 and is being read from the New Living Translation.  The signs are all pointing to him. There’s the sign at the wedding feast - He turns water into wine.  And here we see the sign of the healed boy. Simply at the Word of Jesus, a boy is healed. The fever is gone, the prayer is answered.  Christ is what all the signs are pointing to. And even at this season, when we celebrate the advent of Jesus, may these days we have lined up in front of us this Christmas week, remind us that he has made all the signs point to him.  He is our wedding feast. He’s the one who gives us wine for our water.  He’s the one that answers our deepest heart cry and offers us healing for our children.   There are many more signs in this Gospel.  May our hearts be open to all the signs.  They are all pointing to him.  May we have eyes to see and hearts to receive.

A daily devotional exploring the names of God in scripture. Our website http://alittlewalkwithgod.com. Thanks for joining me today for "A Little Walk with God." I'm your host Richard Agee. Today we look at God's name Jehovah-Yahweh. They are one and the same, the first a Christian transliteration of the latter. Scripture Genesis 2:4 This is the detailed story of the Eternal God's singular work in creating all that exists. Devotional Yahweh, the name God called Himself when Moses asked who he should tell the Israelite sent Him. Meanings attributed to the name “He Who Makes That Which Has Been Made” “He Brings Into Existence Whatever Exists” other interpretations have been offered by many scholars. Written as a tetragrammaton, four letters YHWH without vowels Reminder to never say His name because of its sacredness Later transliterated to Jehovah by Christians Adonai was the spoken name of God One of the seven names of God that should never be erased We hear the name Jehovah fairly often, Yahweh not as much, but they are the same Transliteration on one to the other beginning in ancient Israel God, the one who makes that which has been made He is the creator of all things If it's been made, He is the one who brought it into existence We might think we are creative, but Yahweh created the creative mind Nothing exists without Him Today, think about God's name, Yahweh. What does His creative name mean to you? What has He created for you and in you that you can give thanks and glorify Him for it What has He brought into your life that you recognize come from Him Reexamine your life and see how Yahweh has made possible every good thing in your life He who makes that which has been made; He brings into existence whatever exists Good descriptions of the God we serve He is the one worthy of our worship If you want to learn more about my church, you can find us at SAF.church. Grace Baptist Santa Clarita: Service Podcast

Today is Christmas Day, and the 4th Sunday of Advent. We’ve studied through the great themes of God’s plan of redemption as they swirl around the birth of Jesus, the Messiah. In Matthew 1, we read that the birth of Jesus meant that God was now in our midst. The prophet Isaiah foretold that the virgin would bear a Son, and His name would be called Immanuel which translated means “God with us.” Certainly the idea that God would dwell among men was something that has filled the minds of mankind ever since that day. But if we really stop to think about it, is it really a good thing? Isn’t the presence of a holy God dangerous? Throughout history mankind has actually tried to run away from the presence of God. Psalm 2:1-3 describes the fact that, for the most part, humanity has wanted to sever itself from any accountability to God. In what sense then was the very presence of God on earth something to cheer? Wouldn’t the holiness and power of God pose a great risk to those who sought to live for themselves in rebellion against Him? Today we take the time to look at the real purpose behind the Incarnation. We will find that the presence of God is dramatically wonderful, but only for those who recognize that their very best option is to turn from their selfish, wicked ways to follow Jesus Christ. This was the angelic message on that first Christmas night, when they boldly declared “glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” May our God be pleased with us on this wonderful Christmas Day.
