The season is speeding by, and July is turning into August with a couple of notable shows from some of our favorite rockers. Creed is in the midst of its first concert tour in 12 years, which, among other things, is marking the 25th anniversary of its multi-platinum sophomore album Human Clay. Creed performs with 3 Doors Down and Finger Eleven on Wednesday, July 31. Sammy Hagar brings his The Best of All Worlds Tour to Pine Knob on Friday, August 2. Plus Melissa Etheridge shares her many memories about playing Pine Knob, from opening for Bruce Hornsby to her own headlining shows. Finally, we thought we'd remember a particularly historic show. It was Talking Heads final appearance in the metro area, on August 11, 1983.
What's all the fuss about? Wouldn't you like to know! I think you'd also like to know, in this episode we cover internet reviews for Gilligan's Island, a big coffee grinder, a bar named Cheeto, Human Clay by Creed, and Easy Mac. We also pay homage to our dear friend Dear, Abby in a segment. I think I gave away the fuss! Want more party? Check it out at https://www.reviewpartydotcom.com/ !
In this week's episode, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti discusses the writing and recording of Creed's iconic 1999 single, "Higher." This rock anthem soared to the top of the charts, solidifying the band as one of the era's defining acts. Having already achieved success with their debut album, the astronomical rise of "Higher" from their sophomore effort, Human Clay, made Creed a household name. In this episode, Mark tells the story behind the creation of this timeless modern rock classic. Creed not only plans to reunite in 2024, but to do so on a nostalgia fueled “Summer of 99 Cruise”... but we can't help but ask ourselves - why? Is demand for the Scott Stapp fronted group to reunite “higher” than we think, or will most fans NOT embrace a Creed reunion “with arms wide open”? That's what Matt and Zach discuss in the latest episode of “Am I Missing Something?,” a podcast where we analyze popular or unpopular bands, albums, songs or music trends in an attempt to figure out what we seem to be “missing.” The goal isn't to ridicule, but rather to gain a better understanding of what a majority of fans see or don't see in something that Matt and Zach simply can't wrap their heads around. While KISSmas in July is still in effect, there's a lot of rock news still out there to cover with Geekwire! Here's a look at what we're covering this week. Creed is planning a 2024 tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their album Human Clay. Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares says that venues taking a cut of artists' merchandise sales is making it harder for bands to survive. Sammy Hagar says there will never be a Van Halen reunion. Over 30 artists have been announced for the 2024 Monsters of Rock Cruise. Mark Tornillo talks about how he ended up singing for Iron Maiden at a club show four decades ago. A documentary about late Snot singer Lynn Strait is in the works. Judas Priest will officially replace Ozzy Osbourne at the Power Trip Festival. Buckcherry's Josh Todd says rock is no longer dangerous. Richie Faulkner reveals the best piece of advice he ever got from Rob Halford. Eddie Van Halen nearly had a cameo in the third Bill & Ted movie. Jeff Young blasts Dave Mustaine for comments about ex-Megadeth members never "amounting to anything." Mick Mars doesn't want to talk to his Mötley Crüe bandmates ever again. Friend of the show and singer for Dawn of the Rising Ray Coon has a new gig with Angel Black. All that and rock star birthdays, death days, and releases we're excited for. We hope you enjoy Geekwire for the week of 07.19.23 and SHARE with a friend! The match up absolutely no one asked for is here! Two of the most loathed bands of all time go head-to-head on today's episode, with Nickelback's 'All The Right Reasons' facing off with 'Human Clay' by Creed. Despite being always mentioned in the conversation of 'worst bands ever', these two records are some of the best selling albums of all time, so they don't care what anyone thinks. But it's fun to talk anyway. Trigger Warning: This episode contains references to self-harm, domestic violence, addiction and mental health issues. I've been crowned the podcast angel and my first decree is that we must analyse Human Clay's cover art, discuss why Creed are a tricky band to listen to and go deep on Scream 3. Find me a worse film clip than Creed's, What If? I dare ya. Double dog dare ya. Creed were massive. They sold a lot of records. But how does this album hold up? Also, don't worry horny Dads, we've got something special for you. Love always, BDT xoxo

Music Defender welcomes its first guest defender, Matty Conaghan, who takes on the formidable task of defending Creed's "Human Clay." It's an album that guest contributor Damon Lockett calls "Wal-Mart Alice In Chains," and the rest of the MD crew put up strong resistance to the idea that there is anything to redeem at all. Can Matty make the case and take us all higher as we look at "Human Clay" from the vantage point of 2021?

It might not get more polarizing than Creed and this 90s monster song might test Drew and Dave's friendship. Do you think Higher by Creed is a legit hit, or is it a song gone wrong? Higher from Creed was off their album Human Clay which came out in 1999. This song peaked at number seven on the US Billboard Hot 100 in July of 2000 and spent 57 weeks on the chart. This will be a close vote and you the listeners play a big role in deciding this one. Website: Songsgonewrong.com Twitter: @SongsGone Email: sgwpodcast@gmail.com

Creed's Human Clay. An album of contradictions. It's the best-selling album we've ever covered yet it's universally reviled. It's chock full of praise songs yet the band claims to not be Christian rock. It's packed with lyrical moralizing yet Scott Stapp is a mess of a human being, the human embodiment of Florida Man. 20 years after Human Clay's release, lapsed Christians Shay "Sherman" and Lucifer Christmas join Heather and Mike to try to make sense of it all. You'll hear all the stories, from T.I.'s lifesaving blunt to Scott Stapp's manic angel-driven road trip. Let us take you higher, stoppies.
In this episode, Mike essentially declares war on Scott Stapp, but Sam sorta loves him. The two discuss the few merits and the MANY downfalls of Creed's second studio album, Human Clay.
