Dry, irritated, and every lubricant burns or makes a mess? You're not alone. 91% of women say their libido changes in menopause.Andrea Donsky, nutritionist, author of Nourishing Menopause, 7x published menopause researcher and menopause educator, and co-founder of wearemorphus.com, sits down with Deborah Porteous, co-founder of The Pleasure Pods Company, who hit vaginal dryness in her early 50s and couldn't find a single product that didn't irritate her, ran everywhere, or ruined the sheets. So she and her partner Brian spent two years with a formulator and a team of plant scientists building something better: a 100% plant-based solid that melts at body temperature. Berlin wasn't blockaded — and that changes everything you think. Was Berlin really “blockaded” in 1948? Or have we been repeating a Cold War myth for nearly eighty years? In this explosive episode of History Rage, cultural historian and author Joseph Pearson dismantles one of the most entrenched narratives of the early Cold War. We all know the story: Stalin sealed off West Berlin, starving its people, and the West heroically saved the city through the Berlin Airlift. But what if Berlin was never truly blockaded at all?Drawing on deep archival research and firsthand accounts from Berliners, Pearson argues that the term “blockade” is historically misleading. While ground and rail access from West Germany was restricted, movement between East and West Berlin continued. Civilians crossed borders. Food flowed in. Even Soviet authorities offered rations. The airlift was real — and extraordinary — but the idea of a city completely sealed off is far more myth than fact.We explore:What a “blockade” actually means — and why the word mattersHow ordinary Berliners experienced the airliftThe women who built Tegel Airport in just 90 daysThe terrifying near-misses that could have sparked World War IIIThe propaganda war that turned former enemies into alliesWhy the Berlin Airlift remains a masterclass in geopolitical brinkmanshipJoseph Pearson, originally from Canada and now based in Berlin, specialises in everyday history — the lived experience behind the headlines. His latest book examines the Berlin Airlift through the eyes of civilians and pilots, revealing a more complex, human and politically charged story.Guest Details:Joseph Pearson is a cultural historian and author based in Berlin.Book: The Airlift: Victories, Myths, and the Berlin BlockadeBuy here: https://uk.bookshop.org/a/10120/9781803998220Follow Joseph on Instagram @writing_josephIf you care about Cold War history, post-war Germany, the Berlin Blockade, the Berlin Airlift, or how propaganda shapes memory — this episode will challenge what you thought you knew.Episode recommendations:Episode 219 – Giles Milton on Post War Berlin - https://pod.fo/e/2f6bc6Episode 103 – Katja Hoyer on East Germany - https://pod.fo/e/21793e Follow & Support History Rage

Closing Your Business: Managing the Emotional Impact

I Hate Numbers

About this episodeWe often talk about growth, profit, VAT, tax, and better financial control. However, business owners also face difficult moments when the numbers, the market, or changing customer behaviour point in a painful direction. In this episode, we look at the emotional impact of closing your business, stopping a core product, or letting go of a professional dream that no longer feels sustainable. We talk about the early excitement of starting something, the weight of declining sales, the pressure of difficult decisions, and the importance of handling the process with honesty and dignity. This is not a legal checklist for closing a business. Instead, it is a practical and human conversation about recognising what the numbers are telling us, speaking to stakeholders, seeking support, and remembering that a business ending does not make us a failure. What you'll learn in this episodeWhy closing your business can feel emotionally heavyHow changing markets and customer habits can affect sustainabilityWhy the numbers may force a difficult but necessary conversationHow to separate business failure from personal failureWhy communication with staff, customers, and loved ones mattersHow support from advisers, mentors, and family can reduce the burdenWhy business closure can still lead to learning, resilience, and a next chapterWhy closing your business feels personalMost businesses begin with energy, hope, and belief. We invest money, time, effort, identity, and emotion into the idea. Whether it is a bakery, an online shop, a consultancy, a creative practice, or another venture, the business can become part of who we are. That is why closing your business can feel like more than a commercial decision. It may feel like losing part of a dream. It may also bring disappointment, embarrassment, exhaustion, and a sense of grief.“Your value is not defined by a balance sheet.”When the numbers tell the truthSometimes the market changes. Sales may decline for months. Competition may increase. Customer buying habits may shift. A product or service that once worked well may no longer bring in enough money to support the business. We may try new marketing, reduce what we pay ourselves, look again at costs, or hope that the trend will reverse. However, there comes a point when the numbers need to be faced honestly. Our episode on understanding your financial statements is a useful next step if you need clearer insight into what your figures are saying. The emotional cost of letting goMaking the final decision can be painful. Business owners may spend late nights reviewing bank statements, checking reports, and hoping for a different answer. The pressure can affect mental wellbeing, personal relationships, and confidence. It is important to acknowledge those feelings. Closing a business, or ending a product or service that mattered to us, can feel like a bereavement. That does not mean we made the wrong decision. It means the business mattered.A business can fail without making you a failureA business structure can fail for many reasons outside our control. Markets change, costs rise, customers behave differently, and demand can move away from what we originally offered. We should not turn a commercial outcome into a personal judgement. The fact that a business closes does not remove the courage, skill, effort, and learning that went into building it. For more support on this theme, our episode on how to cope with business failure offers a helpful next step.Communicating with stakeholdersOne of the hardest parts of closing your business is telling the people who believed in it. Employees, loyal customers, suppliers, family, and supporters may all be affected by the decision. Clear communication matters. We should speak honestly, avoid blame, explain the reality of the situation, and thank people for their support. This helps us handle the final stages with dignity and respect.People who may need to hear from youEmployees or team membersCustomers who supported the businessSuppliers and professional contactsFamily and loved onesAccountants, advisers, or mentorsHow to cope with the aftermathClosing your business does not mean the whole journey was wasted. Once the immediate emotion settles, we can start to see the lessons, skills, and resilience that came from the experience. We may have learned how to market, manage money, handle problems, lead people, make decisions, and deal with pressure. Those lessons matter. They become part of what we take into the next stage of life or business.Practical ways to support yourselfDo not isolate yourselfTalk to people you trust. Support from family, friends, mentors, advisers, or an accountant can make the situation feel less lonely and more manageable.Get help with the practical stepsProfessional support can reduce the logistical stress. An accountant or business adviser can help us understand the mechanics of winding things down and what needs attention.Give yourself time to recoverThere may be a period of reflection before the next move becomes clear. That pause is part of the process, not a sign that the journey is over. There is a next chapterIt may not feel possible at first, but life does continue after a business closes. The next step might be a break, a return to employment, a new business idea, or a different professional direction. Our episode on Planning Your Business Journey can help you think about business decisions as part of a wider path, not just a single outcome.Related episodesHow to cope with business failureBusiness distress: How to manage itPlanning Your Business JourneyKey takeawayClosing your business can be painful, but it does not define your worth. The decision may mark the end of one chapter, but it can also carry lessons, experience, resilience, and clarity into whatever comes next. What if the church has been asking the wrong question about disability?Too often, disability is presented as a picture of spiritual weakness, brokenness, or a barrier to faith. But when Jesus encounters people impacted by disability, He often does something very different. He highlights their faith, elevates their testimony, and uses their lives to strengthen the faith of others. In this episode, Dr. Chris Hulshof examines the intertwined stories of Jairus' daughter and the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5. By studying these two miracles together, we discover how Jesus used the faith of one woman as a catalyst for another person's faith during a moment of crisis.Along the way, Chris challenges churches to consider how disability is portrayed from the pulpit, in ministry, and in congregational life. Are people with disabilities viewed primarily as ministry recipients, or are they recognized as fellow disciples whose faith can encourage, equip, and strengthen the entire body of Christ? In This EpisodeWhy the language we use about disability mattersHow disability is often portrayed as a hindrance to faithThe connection between Jairus' daughter and the woman with the issue of bloodHow Jesus used one person's faith to strengthen another'sWhy people with disabilities can serve as catalysts for faith within the churchPractical ways churches can create opportunities for meaningful participation and leadershipQuestions every church should ask about disability inclusionKey ScripturesMark 5:21–43Matthew 9:20–22Luke 8:43–48Key Quote"Too often disability is portrayed as a hindrance to faith rather than a catalyst for faith. Along the way, she discovered a deeper truth: success is not just about money or productivity. It is about health, wealth, love, fulfillment, and becoming the fullest version of yourself. The conversation explores the connection between physical health, mental health, identity, environment, and self-worth. Amy and Rodric dig into the importance of self-belief, boundaries, community, and choosing growth even when it gets uncomfortable. This is a thoughtful, inspiring conversation about healing, authenticity, and creating a life that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside. In This Episode, You'll LearnWhat holistic success really means and why it mattersHow health, wealth, and love work together instead of separatelyWhy high self-belief and low self-worth often show up togetherHow identity, boundaries, and consistency shape personal successWhy healing is rarely about one quick fixHow environment affects your physical, mental, and emotional well-beingWhy community and human connection matter more than everWhat it takes to keep growing without dimming your lightHighlights & Timestamps[00:00] What is holistic success? Amy opens with a powerful vision: success should include wealth, health, and love, not just money.[01:00] Meet Amy Lenius and Next Level Nation Amy shares her background in anatomy and physiology, her work in women's health, and how she came into the world of personal development.[02:00] From healing work to speaking and coaching She explains how her own health journey led her to public speaking, education, and eventually partnering with Next Level Nation.[03:00] Who Next Level Nation helps Amy describes the kind of people they work with: highly driven people with strong self-belief, but often low self-worth.[04:00] Why internal ceilings matter The conversation turns to identity, boundaries, consistency, and the invisible limits that can hold people back.[05:00] Rodric's back pain story Rodric shares his personal experience with chronic back pain, surgery, and how healing required deeper work than just physical treatment.[06:00] Everything is connected Amy reflects on how health is never just one isolated issue and why the whole body must be treated as a system.[07:00] The role of environment in health She expands the conversation to include external environment, stress, people, places, and the impact of everyday surroundings.[08:00] Health, mindset, and the long game Amy explains that true healing usually comes from years of consistent, unsexy habits rather than one dramatic breakthrough.[09:00] Business, stress, and emotional health Rodric shares an example of a client whose mental health and business growth were too intertwined to ignore.[10:00] Leaving the city and finding peace Amy and Rodric connect over the benefits of space, quiet, and a slower lifestyle away from constant overstimulation.[11:00] Service and solitude can coexist They discuss how people who crave peace often still feel called to serve others in a meaningful way.[12:00] Building a life you do not need to escape from Amy talks about why so many people are constantly planning trips, leaving home, and seeking relief from the life they created.[13:00] Defining success differently Amy shares her vision of holistic success and why true fulfillment is deeper than temporary happiness.[14:00] How to connect with Amy and Next Level Nation Amy explains where the company shows up online and how people can engage with their free and paid offerings.[15:00] Community, human connection, and live events Rodric and Amy discuss why community is becoming even more important in an AI-driven world.[16:00] Information versus inspiration They reflect on how technology can provide information, but not the human spark that comes from real connection.[17:00] Using AI as a tool, not a replacement Amy shares why AI can be useful, but should never replace authentic human expression and presence.[18:00] Free value and the triple-win philosophy Amy explains how their company approaches coaching, podcasting, and content with a win-win-win mindset.[19:00] The question for the next guest Amy asks the next guest what success means to them.[20:00] Rodric's definition of success Rodric shares his own version of success: freedom, peace, and the ability to live life on his own terms.[21:00] What changed Amy's life Amy answers Rodric's question about what or who changed her life, pointing to illness, healing, and Alan's influence on her self-worth journey.[22:00] The lonely land of growth Amy opens up about how growth can change relationships and why becoming more yourself can feel isolating at first.[23:00] Boundaries, self-worth, and people pleasing She discusses the challenge of setting boundaries and outgrowing dynamics that once benefited from her being small.[24:00] Hard things are not always wrong things Amy pushes back on toxic positivity and explains why discomfort, shame, and loneliness can be part of necessary growth.[25:00] Authenticity and curiosity as the through line Amy reflects on the deeper lesson of the conversation: stay curious, grow, and keep building self-belief.Notable Quotes“What if people could be holistically successful, not just in wealth, but in health and in love as well?” – Amy Lenius “Everything affects everything else.” – Amy Lenius “We attract a lot of people with high self-belief and low self-worth.” – Amy Lenius “Success is subjective.” – Amy Lenius “If it's hard, if it's lonely, you're probably doing something right.” – Amy Lenius “Self-belief is one of the greatest traits you can have for success.” – Amy LeniusConnect with Amy Lenius

In today's episode, I'm talking about how to help someone who is grieving or going through a lot. I had a powerful moment from a recent Good Movement workshop, where one simple exercise (listening without trying to fix) felt surprisingly hard.Honestly, that makes sense. So many of us have been conditioned to respond with solutions, encouragement, or perspective. When someone is grieving or struggling, though, those responses can unintentionally feel dismissive instead of supportive.I hope this episode allows you to rethink how we can show up for others and for ourselves. Being seen, heard, and cared for in those moments is where the REAL healing begins! If you're ready to go deeper and do this inner work for yourself, I'd love to connect with you. You can schedule a free 30-minute call with me to talk about what 1:1 Good Movement Guidance could look like for you. Have you ever thought of how you relate to desire? You likely work with it in 1 of 2 ways:You suppress it…Or chase it blindlyEither leads to a mess.In this episode of Engineering Emotions & Energy, Justin breaks down something deeper—The Art of Desire.Recording from Corfu, Greece, after time in Rome, he shares a powerful realization:Desire has been used throughout history to control people, shape behavior, and maintain power…But what if desire isn't the problem? What if it's actually one of your greatest tools—when you learn how to work with it?Key Points & TakeawaysWhy desire itself is not wrong (even the “weird” or uncomfortable ones)The difference between:Weaponized desire (control, suppression, manipulation)Artful desire (creation, connection, expression)How history (Rome, the Vatican, modern systems) has shaped what you think you're “allowed” to wantWhy suppressing desire doesn't eliminate it—it distorts itThe truth: you can want anything… it's how you express it that mattersHow to move from:unconscious reaction → conscious creationThe shift:from “Is this allowed?”to “How can I express this without harm—and maybe even create something beautiful?”The Core InvitationYou don't need to become someone who “wants less.”You become someone who wants better… more consciously… more creatively.

What if the problem is not that we are weak? What if the problem is that we are carrying a slot machine in our pocket all day?In this episode, Ronnie and I start with a memory from the 90s: logging into AIM, checking who was online, getting bored, riding bikes, finding friends, playing basketball, and somehow ending up at Cherry Hill until it got dark. That world was not perfect. But boredom still had a job.It pushed us outside. It made us curious. It made life feel unscripted.Today, the family computer lives in our pocket. It is always on. And it is no longer just asking who is online. It is showing us what people are eating, where they are traveling, what they are remodeling, what they believe, and what we should want next. That is why Ronnie and I got rid of our iPhones six months ago and switched to minimal phones. In this conversation, we talk about dopamine, attention, boredom, anxiety, social media, delayed gratification, and what started to come back after we removed the constant cue from our lives: more reading, more presence, more time with our kids, more thinking, and less noise. This is not a lecture about being perfect. It is a story about realizing that the device was not neutral. And maybe the life we are looking for is hiding on the other side of a little boredom.Topics covered:Why phones are so addictiveHow dopamine and cues shape behaviorWhy boredom is not the enemyWhat happened after we got rid of our iPhonesThe link between screen time, anxiety, and attentionWhy delayed gratification mattersHow to design your environment for a better life

It's why there wasn't an episode last week. This isn't my story to tell, so I can't talk about details, but I wanted to share the context I'm in.This episode is about how life throws curveballs at us, and how the work we do in quieter moments supports us when we're facing the bigger stuff. You'll hear:Why this experience has been the most beautiful painful reminder of why compassionate self-enquiry mattersHow our humanness still shows up even when we have the tools - old patterns reassert themselves, we get triggered, we think 'I thought I didn't do that anymore'Why holding all of that with compassion gives us the spaciousness to choose our next responseThe moment my brain went completely offline mid-sentence (a sign of holding a lot right now)How self-awareness with self-compassion can be our greatest toolLastly, I want to share a gentle reminder: if you're facing something hard right now, hold space for yourself, resource yourself, reach out to people who can support you - it is this that enables us to resource and support others. If this activates anything for you, if you'd like to connect, if you'd like to hear more about the supportive spaces for exploring how to navigate change for yourself, you can get in touch here https://www.hennyflynn.co.uk/contact or sign-up to receive my emails where I share more of this beautiful work https://hennyflynn.kit.com/Settle in, and see where the episode takes you. With loveHenny x ★ Support this podcast ★

I want to be transparent about why: "flavor" can sometimes be a generic term that masks undisclosed synthetic compounds, which is why the app flags it. In this case, Jenn confirmed that the flavor used is organic and that every component is naturally derived, disclosed to her, and vetted. The app is doing its job of flagging a potentially risky ingredient, and this disclosure is the brand doing theirs. What does it really take to build a sustainable nonprofit or social sector organization? In this solo episode, I share a simple but powerful metaphor that's been sticking with me: most organizations are trying to cross a bridge that is only half built. You have the mission. You have the programs. You're doing meaningful work. But something is missing between that work and the consistent funding needed to sustain it.I walk through the Clarity–Impact–Funding (CIF) Model, a practical framework I use to understand why so many organizations struggle with sustainability, and what to do about it.In this episode, I cover:Why “working harder” is not the solution to funding challengesThe difference between outputs and outcomes, and why it mattersHow to define clear, focused outcomes that align with your programsWhat strong evidence of impact actually looks like (beyond a few stories)Why funding should not be treated as separate from your program workHow to connect your impact to what funders are actually looking forThe real goal behind all of this work: building trustAt the core of this episode is a shift in mindset. When funders ask for data or reports, they are not just asking for information. They are asking whether they can trust your organization to deliver meaningful results.I also share a practical next step: a free CIF Scorecard to help you diagnose where your organization may have gaps across clarity, impact, and funding, and where to focus first.
