If you're a fan of guitar-driven rock music, the days of Hendrix, Page, and Halen are long gone. Nowadays, the guitar is rarely front-and-center - and if is, it's usually in the form of a reverb-drenched wall-of-sound or this week's latest grunge homage (don't get me wrong - I'm all in on the grunge revival!). But if you stumbled upon English psych rockers Wolf People and their 2016 record Ruins, you were treated to a collection of guitar riffs so beefy that I'd say guitarists Jack Sharp and Joe Hollick deserve a seat at the table amongst the greats of yesteryear. Truly a gem from the last decade, join us as we dive deep into the fuzz and fury of Wolf People. Their home in Bithlo was in a state of disarray, as the home had been burglarized while they were gone. A number of items were missing, including a collection of coins Jack had, and his guns. Days later, Jack called his wife at work and told her that a gun he had hidden in his room had disappeared, this being the final conversation they would have. A day later, Jack and his friend/neighbor Fred Tate would be found on Sharp's property, murdered execution style with a shotgun. Questions remain and both families have been seeking closure for the longest time. THIS IS PART OF THE SEASON ONE REWIND, WHICH HAS BEEN REMASTERED, RETOUCHED AND EDITED FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT! FolkCast: the podcast that brings you the worlds of folk, folk-rock, singer-songwriter and roots music. In this edition of FolkCast we sing a couple of songs of the merry, merry month of May, we go to Gracelands, we wonder where the time has gone, we visit the court house to hear our brother speak, before not visiting Denver. Then we get wild in the country. It could be England, it could Ireland, it could be Wales … or it could be Transylvania! We go on a bug hunt with a flying Yeti and hear an Insanely Mental Instrumental with a mammoth title. There’s a song by a Victorian postman, and there’s a song about a Victorian miner. And then we break it all down and pack it all away with the final journey of a 1969 split screen camper van. That’s our bill of fare: we’ve got folk, folk-rock, singer-songwriter, roots … and hardly any country music!
