A brand-new Disney ship beckons, and Wesley answered the call. Welcome aboard a look at the Disney Destiny's maiden voyage, with sky-high expectations and the magic of a ship that tells its story through every surface. From a shockingly luxurious pre-cruise stay at Pier Sixty-Six with early check-in, poolside setup, and frozen grapes, to a blissfully efficient embarkation at Port Everglades, the tone was set before Wesley ever touched the Grand Hall's carpet. And yes, that Grand Hall hits different: layered lighting, dimensional railings, and a Black Panther centerpiece that feels more regal than fan-service.We dig into the ship's most talked-about spaces. The Sanctum became a go-to spot: open, cozy, and made for lingering. Haunted Mansion Parlor is exquisitely themed, a must-see once; DeVille's dazzles but suffers from early-sailing capacity crunch; Cask and Cannon surprised with great mini churros and pre-dinner vibes. Saga proved versatile for karaoke, game shows, and the standout Marvel comedy show, With Great Power—hosted by the ship's storytellers Gamble and Zayah, and paced like a theme-park live act with clever improv and a cheeky finale. It's labeled 18+, but the tone feels closer to PG-13, raising smart questions about family access and small-venue demand. We also compare stateroom function and storage to earlier classes, share practical packing strategies for a family of five, and talk about how Destiny's design cohesion sets it apart from “floating mall” competitors. The biggest friction point? Hype-driven crowd patterns and adults-only programming that can split families on short sailings. The likely cure is time—and better tools like virtual queues and clearer event labeling. If you love Imagineering details, layered storytelling, and lounges that feel like worlds, Destiny will pull you in. If you're chasing every hot venue, plan ahead, pick your must-dos, and be ready to pivot. Subscribe, share, and leave a review to help fellow Disney cruisers find us—and tell us: which new Destiny space tops your list?----Adventures & Mousecapades is a passion project from Alicea & Nathan Novak - two Seattleites addicted to The Mouse. //The Wire//1630Z October 1, 2024////PRIORITY////BLUF: ISRAEL BEGINS GROUND INVASION OF LEBANON. RECOVERY EFFORTS CONTINUE IN AMERICAN SOUTHEAST. ILA LABOR STRIKE BEGINS.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Middle East: Overnight Israeli forces began their ground invasion of Lebanon. So far, it is unclear as to if this is a limited border incursion or the prelude to a much larger invasion. AC: Sources on either side have not entirely been reliable, and due to the remote terrain in southern Lebanon, it may be some time before an accurate picture of the advance is obtained. Western media sources have claimed that an Iranian ballistic missile strike is imminent, however it's not clear as to how any media source could possibly know this information with any certainty. Similar rumors persist regarding the potential for Iran to send troops to Lebanon to assist in their defense against the Israeli invasion.-HomeFront-USA: The Longshoremen labor strike officially began at midnight, with roughly 45,000 dockworkers and other personnel shutting down logistics operations along the Eastern seaboard and Gulf Coast. As of right now, the following port facilities are most affected by the labor strike: Boston, Delaware River, New York, Baltimore, Hampton Roads, Wilmington, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Miami, Port Everglades, Tampa, Mobile, New Orleans, and Houston.Southeast: Logistical networks have begun to organize more deliberately and aid is beginning to flow into the region as best it can. Roads being impacted or simply no longer existing presents the biggest challenges for rescue and recovery. Price gouging has been reported in many sectors, from fuel to food. Though unconfirmed at this time, truckers are reporting acts of sabotage to their vehicles while parked at truck stops throughout the region. This has allegedly taken the form of slashed tires and tampering with fuel tanks, however it's not clear as to if these incidents are more representative of routine crime or more deliberate targeting of aid shipments.Atlantic Ocean: Tropical Depression Kirk increased to a Tropical Storm overnight, and is expected to become a major hurricane over the next few days. AC: It's too soon to tell if this system is intended for the east coast, however if so this could be a potentially serious complication for the already compromised region.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: Though substantial aid shipments and infrastructure are allegedly on the way, most locals still have not seen many aid efforts from higher than the local level. There are also mounting allegations that higher-level government aid agencies are discouraging the work of Good Samaritans. On the ground, feelings are mixed; higher level aid is desperately called for, but most people know that federal assets will probably just mess up what's already being worked at lower levels. As such, there's a delicate balance at hand which is resulting in conflict: Local volunteers have stepped up where the government has not. However, much more substantial efforts are needed than can be provided by single privately owned helicopters or random citizens carrying one truckload of supplies. However, when state/federal agencies takeover operations and shut out volunteers, they often prove that they can't do much better of a job than the volunteers paying out of pocket for recovery efforts. In short, if formal agencies could take over rescue/recovery efforts and do the job effectively, most volunteers would probably be happy to hand the reigns over to more qualified professionals. However, in most cases the professionals are either not capable of the magnitude of support needed, or are bound up in red tape that is costing lives every single day, thus the emerging conflict. This is resulting in a unique parallel society whereby locals are working independently of formal aid agencies to

This is Paul and this week on The Joy of Cruising Podcast, I am delighted to welcome Bill Raffel now of Fort Lauderdale. I say now of Fort Lauderdale because when I wrote about Bill and his wife Rosie several years ago, they lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I wrote about Bill and Rosie's story in my first cruising book, The Joy of Cruising amzn.to/2EAMddF, in a section called “Cruisers Like You and Me...Sort Of.” This section, a reader favorite retained in each book of The Joy of Cruising Trilogy, follows the theme of “ordinary” cruisers with extraordinary stories. And then I wrote about Bill and Rosie again in my second cruising book, Cruising Interrupted amzn.to/3seFU8y in a section called “The Passionate Cruisers of The Joy of Cruising...What Are They Up To Now?” So, of the approximately 75 or so fascinating cruisers I wrote about in The Joy of Cruising Trilogy, Bill and Rosie are among the few I can count on one hand that I wrote about twice! I said now of Fort Lauderdale because when I wrote about Bill and Rosie several years ago, they lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Like me, Bill is a cruise geek! He told me one of the main reasons they moved to Fort Lauderdale “was to be near the multiple ports and of course the weather… We live along the inlet between the Ocean and Port Everglades, and I take photos of all the ships as they sail away. I post the photos in numerous Facebook groups where the people on the ships can see themselves as they sail away. For example, photos from Royal Caribbean cruise ships are in the “Royal Caribbean Cruisers” Facebook group.” Amusingly, when I reached out to Bill to schedule him for The Joy of Cruising Podcast, he said, ‘…if you think your listeners would find my cruising life interesting.' I responded, ‘Bill, I saw fit to write about you in two books so they will either find your cruising life interesting or question my judgment!” Interesting? Bill and Rosie have been on 81 cruises. Alaska four times, Panama Canal four times. Add to that Africa on a three-week Safari, Australia to scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef, and Hawaii and a whole lot more but I'll let Bill tell you.Support the show

Discover the convenience, comfort, and the scenic beauty that unfolds during this rail adventure.Sandy quickly dispels the myth Brightline goes to Disney Springs.  The train starts at MCO in it's private terminal in front of the new terminal C.  Hear about how easy and relaxing this travel truly is.  While it is not a time saver overall in the trip to Port Everglades, it does not deal with possible traffic jams and is an enjoyable ride.   All seats offer regular power and USB outlets plus a spacious tray table.  For no extra fee, you can select a full size table to sit at as well.   There is also an option to upgrade to first class with larger seating areas and snacks/drinks included.Unlike when flying, there is no need to arrive at the terminal more than 20 minutes early.  Not only is security a breeze, while your bags are scanned, you are welcome to bring beverages and snacks with you.The Brightline terminal is spacious and bright.  It includes a family play area and the largest family restrooms we have ever seen.    On board you can easily walk up and down the extra wide aisle with wiggly little ones.   The onboard restrooms including being all hands free are about 4 times the sizes of an airplane lavatory making it super easy with young ones.On arrival in Fort Lauderdale there is a shuttle to the port or airport as well as first class passengers get free Uber within 5 miles of the terminal.  Overall, not only is this an easy way to get to the new port, it is a fun and relaxing experience!#BrightlineAdventure #disneycruiseline #TrainTravel #OrlandoToFtLauderdale #RailwayExploration #FloridaJourney #porteverglades #TravelConvenience #ScenicRailViews #FloridaRailways #TravelTips #ModernTransportation #SleekTravel #BrightlineExperience #TravelPodcast #ExploreFlorida #EffortlessJourney #RailwayComfort #ConvenientTravel #FtLauderdaleArrival #SeamlessTravel

Under the agreement, Swan Hellenic commits to provide its fleet for use as “ships of opportunity”, enabling the foundations' scientists to gauge the health of our Blue Planet in its most remote and pristine regions, including Arctic, Antarctica and Africa coasts, where the Swan Hellenic fleet is, of course present for several months every year.In late 2021, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU mandated the Commission to accelerate Ocean and Water health conservation and restoration worldwide. The resulting EU Mission is a coordinated effort to pool the necessary financial, scientific and operational resources. The three organisations were among the first in the world to endorse the Mission Charter, which aims to create a sustainable, carbon-neutral, circular blue economy that plays a key role in achieving climate neutrality, since the oceans are major carbon sinks, protect biodiversity and foster economic prosperity, being expected to generate €2.5 trillion per year by 2030. The Mission 2030 targets include a 30% reduction in marine microplastics and the deployment of EU carbon neutral, circular blue economy communities.Costa partners with bioLNG powered truck to supply Costa Firenze in northern Europe Costa Cruises has signed an agreement with LC3 Trasporti to start using bio-LNG-powered trucks to transport supplies needed by its cruise ships. The collaboration between the two Italian companies will officially begin on May 19, when the Costa Firenze ship will call for the first time in the port of Kiel, Germany, from where she will depart weekly until mid-September to offer seven-day cruises to the Norwegian fjords. The supply of goods needed by the ship, such as some types of food, beverages, and technical supplies, will be transported from Costa Cruises' warehouses in Genoa to Kiel using LC3 Transport trucks powered by bio-LNG, the liquefied biomethane obtained by refining waste from the livestock industry. The use of this alternative fuel for the road transport of goods will cut CO2 emissions by almost 90 percent, and particulate emissions by almost 100 percent as compared to a conventional Euro VI diesel vehicle.Holland America Line's First Grand World Voyage Since 2020 Successfully Concludes after 128 Days, 57 Port Visits and 34,651 Nautical MilesHolland America Line's 2023 Grand World Voyage concluded today at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 128 days after it departed from the port Jan. 3, 2023. Setting sail from Sydney on 22 October for the 2022-23 season, the award-winning Celebrity Eclipse will be making her debut in the region with a series of curated 3-to13-night itineraries across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.NCL Celebrates full relaunch of 17 ship fleet Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), is celebrating the completion of its Great Cruise Comeback with the sailing of Norwegian Spirit, the 17th and final ship in its fleet to return to service.NCL's return to service after a 500-day pause began with Norwegian Jade's 25 July 2021 sailing from Athens (Piraeus), Greece. Since then, the Brand has systematically relaunched its ships around the world, welcoming guests and crew members aboard its award-winning vessels.Norwegian Spirit, which is sporting an extensive bow-to-stern USD$100 million revitalization, departed 7 May 2022, and will be sailing through the deep blue South Pacific, visiting eight ports in 12 days, with departures commencing from Papeete on the beautiful Island of Tahiti.Norwegian Spirit will then debut in Australian waters for the very first time on 22 December 2022 for her inaugural local sailing season, visiting ports across Australia and New Zealand, marking NCL's return Down Under after an almost three-year interval.During her renovation, Norwegian Spirit now showcases 14 brand-new venues and is now quite unlike any other ship sailing in Australian waters. She boasts a doubled-in-size Mandara Spa complete with Thermal Suite including steam room, sauna, shower experience and luxurious heated-tile loungers; a luxe Ibiza-inspired adults-only pool retreat called Spice H20 that transforms into a cocktail lounge and open-air nightclub in the evenings; and an NCL guest-favourite, Bliss Ultra Lounge, where guests can enjoy a nightcap or dance the night away.A smaller ship at 268 metres long and 10 decks tall, Norwegian Spirit offers a unique intimate onboard atmosphere yet still provides all the amenities travellers know and love from NCL. Guests will find 14 dining options to choose from, each with no set dining times, tables or dress codes; from table top entertainment at Teppanyaki and fine French fare at Le Bistro to contemporary Italian at the all-new Onda by Scarpetta.Taste Testing time' on P&O Cruises Australia's Pacific ExplorerIt is ‘taste testing time' for the crew on P&O Cruises Australia's Pacific Explorer as the flagship is prepared for its return to cruising on May 31 with its four-night round trip cruise to Brisbane. And if guests are excited about the beautiful food that will be on offer, they can be assured that the crew love it too. With an array of new dishes on the menu, the restaurant teams are sampling the taste and, very importantly, the vibrant look of the culinary delights soon to be experienced on Pacific Explorer. In a busy ship's galley, instant recognition of new dishes is vital to a smooth operation and to get delicious meals to guests' tables as efficiently as possible. With the main restaurant Waterfront along with specialty restaurants such as Angelo's and Dragon Lady and The Pantry outlets serving thousands of meals each day, it is easy to imagine what a complex task it is.stralia's Pacific ExplorerViking Takes delivery of newest shipViking today announced it has taken delivery of the company's newest ocean ship, the Viking Mars. The delivery ceremony took place this morning when the ship was presented at Fincantieri's shipyard in Ancona, Italy. The Viking Mars will now make her way to Valletta, Malta, where she will be officially named on May 17, 2022—Norwegian Constitution Day—by her ceremonial godmother, Lady Fiona Carnarvon, the Countess of Carnarvon. The ship will then sail itineraries in the Mediterranean, Scandinavia and Northern Europe before repositioning at the end of the year for voyages around Australia and New Zealand. For years Viking has offered a variety of ways for its guests to experience life at Highclere Castle, which is the home of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon. Highclere Castle is known as the filming location of Downton Abbey, and Viking became a household name during its sponsorship of the celebrated series MASTERPIECE through the years Downton Abbey aired. Viking Executive Vice President Karine Hagen worked closely with the Carnarvon family to develop Privileged Access Pre/Post Extensions that feature the estate, including the highly-rated Oxford & Highclere Castle and Great Homes, Gardens & Gin extensions, both of which are available for guests on select river and ocean voyages.Lady Carnarvon has also welcomed viewers to Highclere Castle on Viking's award-winning enrichment channel, Viking.TV. In her ongoing series, At Home at Highclere, Lady Carnarvon offers virtual Privileged Access to the historic home and its grounds. In the past two years, she has led more than 20 virtual tours and offered glimpses of life at her home. Additionally, Lady Carnarvon has served as godmother to a Viking Longship, the Viking Skadi, which sails Viking's popular itineraries on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers. The delivery of the Viking Mars comes as Viking continues to mark its 25th anniversary. In January 2022, the company launched Viking Expeditions and its first purpose-built Polar Class vessel, the Viking Octantis; in March 2022, the company named eight new European river ships during a special event in Paris. By the end of the year, Viking will have also welcomed a second identical expedition ship, another identical ocean ship, and new purpose-built vessels for the Nile, Mekong and Mississippi rivers. The Viking Mars is the newest ship in Viking's award-winning ocean fleet of identical sister ships. Please give us that 5-Star Rating and Review on Apple Podcasts and share this episode and the link www.cjevolution.com to your family and friends.  A big shout out and THANK YOU to all the brave men and women who serve in the First Responder Community. Please be safe and come home safe to your family and friends. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved.  As a first responder you and feel things on a daily basis that most people will never experience in their lifetime. This requires special treatment and care for our first responder community. This is what the team at FHE - Shatterproof for First Responders do on a daily basis. Their goal is to make our first responders better so they can continue to be their best for their families and communities. If YOU or someone you know is suffering please reach out to FHE Health -Shatterproof for First Responders @ 844-939-0985 or me @ 303-960-9819.  You are not alone. You are never alone.  As a retired law enforcement professional of many years I saw things on a daily basis that eventually started to bother me. Most first responders do and your emotions will come out sooner or later. As a police officer I was in my bubble. Surrounded by other cops all the time. But, as time went on and as I became friends with other members of the first responder community: paramedics, firefighters and dispatchers I started to realize and learn that we are all suffering from the same things, if we are suffering. Isolation, depression, addiction issues and suicidal ideation were reoccurring themes.  My next guest is going to bring you the Fire Fighter / Paramedic perspective on health and wellness for our brave heroes in the fire fighting / paramedic communities.  Jason Smith is on the show. Jason is the President of IAFF Local 4321 for Broward County FL. President Smith joined Broward County Fire Rescue in 2003 and has served county residents and visitors in every service area. He began his career as a  Firefighter/Paramedic and then rose through the ranks as an Acting Driver, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief and even Assistant District Fire Chief. Since the beginning of his career, President Smith has been diversified in all areas of the county, including Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, and the Special Operations Command. President Smith has also been the Planning Section Chief at the Sheriff's Emergency Operations Center as well as being part of Presidential details.   President Smith started his union involvement in 2001, when he joined the IAFF local 3080. As a dues paying member in good standings, he attended meetings and was a part of the union body process. In 2003, he joined local 3333 and in 2005 was assigned his first position as Sergeant of Arms. This position allowed him to mentor, engage, and watch the union executive board (eboard) conduct business. After the resignation of a staff representative, President Smith was voted through the eboard to hold that vacant seat. Since then, he has held all positions within the eboard. In 2019, President Smith decided to run for President and ran unopposed.  As Vice President, he was able to represent members in various cases including internal affairs, grievances, union negotiations, and labor management. President Smith oversaw the FIRE OPS 101. This opportunity allowed him to demonstrate to elected officials what the fire service is about. In his continuing devotion to serving the community, President Smith has also been on education advisory boards and is currently on the Florida Retirement System (FRS) committee as a union representative in hopes of achieving reinstatement of benefits to members affected in 2015.  President Smith is also a licensed pilot. He has graduated with an Associate degrees in Emergency Medical Services and Fire Science Technology, a Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, and a Master's degree in Emergency Management from Walden University.    You can find Jason here:   https://www.linkedin.com/in/jason-smith-ms-01a93946/   http://www.bcfire.com/index.cfm?zone=/unionactive/officers.cfm    Email:  JSmith@bcfire.com   Stay tuned for more great episodes on The CJEvolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick
