We forced Artificial Intelligence to digest massive amounts of human media and then write its own versions. Everything from The One Show, Game of Thrones, Friends, Songs of Praise and more via movies, fables, adverts, Shakespeare, poetry and, er, gardening tips (and much much more) are all forever ruined by technology. We take the scripts, push them word-for-word into the mouths of actors, and the result is absurdly, joyously - and then absurdly again - hilarious. This is the comedy that conclusively proves that AI is an absolute idiot.Based on materials by Keaton Patti.Forcing A Bot To Write This Show are: Jon Holmes Sarah Dempster Gareth CeredigPerformed by: Isy Suttie James Lance Lauren Douglin Esmonde Cole and Craig Parkinson as The Narrator Olivia Williams as The StoytellerOriginal Music by Jake Yapp. Lyrics: Holmes / Ceredig / PattiProduced and Directed by Jon HolmesTechnical Wizardry: Tony Churnside Production Co-ordinator: Laura GrimshawAn unusual production for BBC Radio 4

Listeners to Five Live's Fighting Talk will know each episode ends with the two highest scorers defending a controversial or unpopular opinion in order to win the episode. So, in that vain: Martin Kelner knows nothing about radio and deserved to be paid less than a horse. Of course he knows nothing about radio. He's only spent the best part of half a century in the industry. Radio 2? Radio Who more like! So what if he introduced Caroline Aherne and Jake Yapp to us? Victoria Wood was absolutely right to walk out on his interview with her. And Edouard Lapaglie has carried him for years! Actually, that might be a Defend the Indefensible too far. Martin is, as Foxy puts it, radio royalty. So we insist you be upstanding while listening to this episode. There's strong language and we must warn you that this episode includes the funniest story ever told on this podcast, so spare undergarments may be required.   See Martin's Tweets here: https://twitter.com/martinkelner Hear Extra Time with Martin Kelner on TalkSport, Friday and Saturday nights from 1am. Martin's books 'Sit Down and Cheer - A history of sport on TV' and 'When Will I Be Famous - Travels through the dark side of show business' are available to buy now. And his new book, 'Screen Break', will be available in mid-2023 so keep an eye out for that.

Regular co-host Molly is taking a break so in part 1 of today's episode, Holly is joined by the brilliant Jake Yapp to discuss the worst vegan meals they've been served, following the news that a business class passenger was given a banana as a pre-ordered vegan breakfast. We conclude that bananas are not worth the effort, a risotto is never an acceptable replacement for a roast dinner and that vegan celebrity Pamela Anderson is not Jake's biggest fan. In part 2, we meet Lina Ambruleviciute, club secretary for Vegan Runners UK. Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to Epi319 of Succotash. And thank you for making us your destination for this period of listening that you are currently embarking upon. This show started 11+ years ago as a way to feature comedy people and their podcasts, which we here at Succotash have been calling "soundcasts" as a way to attempt to separate the medium from the dead format known as the iPod that it is named for. As time went on, the soundcast proliferated in a way that is still quite surprising at times. More's the merrier, more for show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon and myself to choose to listen to, take snippets from, and ultimately present a few of them to you, the listener. If this is the first soundcast that you've ever listened to I'd like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing us. I've got 3 clips to share with you, but first: I'd like to point out that last week in Episode #318 of Succotash, Mr. Hershon brought you a quadrilogy of clips from soundcasts that contain comedy AND sports, namely Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson, Sportsfeld, The Grade Cricketer (that included guest commentary from our friend Jason "Jabs" McNamara (The DHead Factor, Boganwood) from Canberra, Australia), and View from the Cheap Seats. It is the first time in this show's history that it has featured an all-sports-related soundcast lineup, and I found it to be actually quite an interesting listen. You can find that episode in our show archive at www.succotashshow.com or pretty much wherever you might listen to soundcasts in your own personal future. The clips I will be sharing with you this week are from the soundcasts called Jake Yapp presents: Not Today, Thank You, Strong Songs, and Trashy Trashy. I feel like this episode is loaded with feminine energy, but I'm not sure that I am the best person to evaluate that. I will let the listener decide. This episode is sponsored by Henderson's Pants new Pushover Pants, the perfect trouser for those who feel a mite unbalanced. CLIPS Jake Yapp Presents: Not Today, Thank YouA once-daily-now-occasional podcast featuring Jake Yapp, as seen and heard on Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe, Radio 4 and 6Music. Our clip hails from the episode that dropped on October 7th, 2020, with guest Ellen Rose entitled "Game Saves". Interestingly, there is no mention of Ms. Rose in the show description, nor is there any additional information about her…so I looked her up! According to a page on youtube.fandom.com/wiki/Icklenellierose she is listed as an "English YouTuber best known for being a host of Outside Xtra, as well as being a former host of Xbox On." Strong Songs Music: it's good. On each episode of Strong Songs, host Kirk Hamilton takes listeners inside a piece of music, breaking it down and figuring out what makes it work. This soundcast features the type of granular approach to music analysis that, as a lifelong music nerd, I appreciate a great deal. I took a clip from the August 11th, 2022, show entitled, "Help Me" by Joni Mitchell. (Host's note: I have listened to a few episodes of Strong Songs" and had been looking for an excuse to clip the show for our show. Thankfully, this episode I have clipped for you happened, and I could not resist the urge to clip this show any longer, as this is one of my all-time favorite songs!) Trashy Trashy I first featured a clip of Trashy Trashy's 3rd episode way back in August of 2020 and now, they have reached their 100th episode, and are steadily sailing ahead to their 200th, one would presume. Over the last 2 years, this soundcast has become one of my weekly regular listens that I try to make a point of getting to when it drops, usually on Monday of every week. For those who have never heard it before, the description says: "A podcast for garbage people by garbage people. We cover trashy news stories. Hosted by Cassandra Cardenes and Erika Curry. This clip, featuring dog parks and their people, is from their episode 101, from August 8th of 2022, titled #NOTALLDRESSING - In which, its episode description is a repeat of the previously mentioned SHOW description. It also includes their social media links, and a series of links to all of the news stories they are sourcing for this particular episode, including the weekly inclusion of a "Dumpster Fire of the Week" story. And that completes your journey through the selected bits of audio that other people took the time to commit to a more-or-less permanent format, that I have taken the time to commit to an additional more-or-less permanent format, that you have taken some of your time to listen to, and I am very grateful for that. I am grateful for a great many things of late. I am grateful for the friends and family that I both have had and, through the recent nuptials of my brother, I now have. Or…I also have…now… Something like that. It was an amazing time seeing many people I had not for 20-30 years perhaps. It was amazing food and the ceremony was both very moving and succinct. I'm grateful that my parents were able to attend a marriage of their child, in their lifetime. I'm grateful for the furiously expanding amount of perspective that time and life has brung, and is bringing to me. I can even say that I am grateful for the soundcast as a format. I don't know if any of my assorted audio content post-2002 would have even existed as it does had it not been for the soundcast. Much of it does directly because of the soundcast and because of other soundcasters sharing it with their listeners over the last significant portion of my life so far. So, I can only close by saying "Thank you" to all involved, and to remind you that next week there will be something else for you to listen to: Epi320. It will most likely be hosted by Marc Hershon and will feature his interview with Christine Blackburn, friend of Succotash and host of the longer-running-than-our-show, Story Worthy, as well as the Story Smash soundcast game show, AND the brand new soundcast My Life in Three Songs! So…if you enjoyed this, and somewhere out there in "The rest of YOUR life" - land someone should happen to ask you if you heard anything interesting or good lately, and we spring to mind…by all means tell them so. It's what we mean when we ask you to please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner

"Dublin Trilogy" novelist and former comedian Caimh (CK) McDonnell shares his sitcom set aboard a ferry, a pre-Fleabag Fleabag and a comedy about what happens when multiple timelines meet. Offcuts performed by: Jake Yapp, Darrell Maclaine, Kenny Blyth, Lizzie Roper, David Monteith and Rachel Atkins. This episode contains strong language. Caimh McDonnell is the internationally bestselling author of the Dublin Trilogy which is set in his hometown. His debut novel 'A Man with One of Those Faces' – a darkly comedic crime thriller – was published in 2016 and nominated for best novel at the 2017 CAP awards. It went on to spawn the increasingly uncountable Dublin Trilogy (five books and counting) and the McGarry Stateside series, which have been translated into several different languages and optioned for television. He also writes ‘The Stranger Times' series of books under the name of C.K. McDonnell which has been described as "a celebration of how truth really can be stranger than fiction" The former professional stand-up comedian and TV writer has performed all around the world, had several well-received Edinburgh shows and supported acts such as Sarah Millican and Gary Delaney on tour before hanging up his clowning shoes to concentrate on writing. His TV writing work has seen him work on some of the biggest topical comedy shows on British TV and has earned him a BAFTA nomination. We are back with a spicy episode and this week the Vegan Life Podcast delves into the Thai cuisine where coconut, galangal and vegan shrimp paste are life. Jake Yapp is joined by Napat Chawsoun who runs a vegan cafe and hostel in Northern Thailand, and comes from a family who works in food locally. Napat has a great grasp of Thai cooking and food anthropology. Kip Dorrell is a food writer, Thai food enthusiast and founder of Messy Vegan Cook blog which mainly consists of authentic Thai recipes and Jajah Totienchai is the founder of the vegan restaurant/bakery chain, Veganerie which is hugely successful in Thailand. From beginning to end, this episode is packed with information about Thai culture. Jajah starts off the episode telling us how Thai food is different regionally; for example, in the south of Thailand the food is very spicy, in the centre it is milder and sweet, whereas in the east the flavours are very sour. Jajah also shares with the podcast the Jain way of living and how it is different to general veganism. We get a 101 on soy sauce from Kip and learn everything we need to know about coconut milk. For example did you know that there is a head and tail to coconut milk? No we didn't either! And presumably you have been cooking coconut milk wrong all these years. Napat shares a revelation about a shrimp paste substitute that involves a very popular ingredient that we Brits love to be divided on. There are many more surprises throughout the episode; with one from Kip, as she explains that marinating is a myth and shares a top tip on how to penetrate flavour into your food. We end with Kip explaining that a lot of non-nationals go to Thailand on holiday and ask for food to be cooked how local people would traditionally eat it. You've been warned – you'll be getting a spicy meal! We hope you've enjoyed your virtual trip to Thailand this week; if you try any of the tips or recipes from this episode, be sure to let us know.

1950s New York. At the headquarters of NAR National American Radio, their star newscaster is found dead in an abandoned studio. Was he murdered? His tie is still round his dead neck, caught in the mechanism of a new-fangled video tape machine. Should we put the blame on the VTR, or was he the victim of something or someone more sinister? Journalist (and also podcaster) Mason Lane travels through the archive to hear the playback, and, though it seems so long ago, rewinds a cold case, despite how far it has already gone. ......................................... An apartment. An intruder. A bloodstain on a carpet. The sound of a crescendo. But how did this culminate in Annie's doom? In truth, we can probably blame that on the intruder. But how did he (if it was a he) get through the window? And what made the sound? And why was the criminal hairless? And why did Annie run under a table? How high was this table? And is Annie Ok? Are you ok, Annie? Journalist (and also podcaster) Mason Lane investigates. ......................................... A man is shot six times by a man (another man) on the run. But why? And who are they? And why are the trees whispering? The night is heavy and the air, unlike one of the men, is alive, as journalist (and also podcaster) Mason Lane ventures into it to uncover a mystery, a mystery in which people are dead, and where the trees have begun to sing. It's the story of a desperate fight, a lost riddle and, possibly crucially, the silhouette of a gun. ......................................... Chicago. A cold grey morning. A kid lies face down in an alleyway with a gun in his hand. To be clear, he's dead, not just asleep. But what led him to here? To Chicago. To the alleyway. To his death. The first one is easy, he grew up here, in the ghetto. The second two form the mystery which journalist (and also podcaster) Mason Lane sets out to solve, as he delves beneath the underworld, into the under-underworld, of a classic crime-ridden cold case. .......................................... Journalist (and also podcaster) Mason Lane sets out to solve perhaps the biggest mystery in the history law enforcement. There's a confession (“I shot the sheriff'), an outright denial (“But I did not shoot the deputy”) some seeds, and a bucket with the bottom fallen out of it. Is the bucket important? Yes. Are the seeds important? Also yes, although maybe not as important as the bucket. He visits the scene of the crime to speak to surviving officers, witnesses, and those who accused the accused of gunning down Sheriff John Brown in what may or may not have been a classic case of a crime of self-defence. ..........................................
