This Journey's End tried to be an emotional Crusher, but it just ended up being a Disaster. They really needed to Troi (Pic)harder. The Emergence of this episode, devoid of Inner Light, will get no Redemption. A very Dark Page in Enterprise history. There will be no Justice for this Too Short a Season, though it should be A Matter of Honor. This is The Price we pay when Yesterday's Enterprise isn't given its Devil's Due. This Final Mission is corrupted by a Future Imperfect, leaving an Identity Crisis and a tarnished Legacy, from which Terry Matalas will learn all the wrong Lessons. The crew of the NX-01, at least The Survivors, In Theory, should be the subject of Hero Worship, not just Relics, A Matter of Time until they become The Outcast. Time for The Big Goodbye. Also The Outrageous Okona, I guess. Oh, this is supposed to be an Enterprise Podcast. What a Conundrum. Oops. Here's episode 100. This week hosts Brett King and Katie “Miss Metaverse” Schultz join a returning guest Thomas Frey to talk about the state of the future. In our last session Thomas gave an excellent demonstration of futurist thinking in real time. But in this week's show we get Thomas talks about how AI, climate and conflict are already impacting us. He also opines on the likelihood that if you are not working with AI you'll likely be replaced by someone who is. Once again he shows us why he's Google's highest rated futurist speaker.
Thomas Frey is who you will undoubtedly find when you do a Google search on “futurist speaker”. Having shared the stage with many A-listers, Frey has earned that moniker. But his true skill demonstrated repeatedly in this week's episode is taking an event or innovation and the extrapolating the future. In this episode we see him do that in real time. It's a unique glimpse into the futurist process. The YouTube channel has over three quarters of a million subscribers and provides a wealth of information. He also hosts the podcast, Future Imperfect. In 2012, he was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for service to the economy. Jason has a brand new book due out on July 18th 2023, Leading the Rebellion: Questing to Succeed in Work and Life Welcome to Rock, Paper, Swords, Chief Judge Kingsley! ;-)
Then let the story really begin in 1968, though it has little to do with May. By chance it opens in January of that year, and it really concerns me rather than the world of political events, though these are always on my mind, as they were always on my mind. Future Imperfect: The Past Between My Fingers... (2021), Adrian Rifkin's short Bildungsroman sets beside each other the fault lines of events and moments recalled without a diary with the verification and sometimes undermining effects of new research of materials, the recovery of what was known, what might have been known, and what was merely probable, as if this were a history of the history of art. Adrian Rifkin speaks to Pierre d'Alancaisez about the uses of radical pedagogy, dreams, art history, and the economy of memory. Wagner and the Teletubbies also feature. Adrain's performance Hypotheses and Loving Contradictions at Haus der Kunst, 2017 The White Pube

Host Meg Wolitzer presents stories by the incomparable Margaret Atwood, drawn from our archives and a live performance evening hosted by the author. “There Was Once” is a brief satire about the art of writing and the importance of free speech. It's performed by René Auberjonois, Zach Grenier, and Jane Kaczmarek. “Widows,” performed by Ellen Burstyn, is a delicate and ironic tale in which a recently widowed woman becomes accustomed to her new role. And Atwood is in full dystopian throttle in “Freeforall” where reproductive rights have become a matter of life and death. The reader is Becky Ann Baker. Both “Widows” and “Freeforall” have been published in Atwood's new collection Old Babes in the Wood: Stories. Portions of Atwood's onstage talk with fellow writer A.M. Homes are also featured.

In your mind's eye, picture wild coastline, giant rivers, farms and ranches, redwood trees and forest lands stretched across 20,000 square miles, including millions of acres of federal land. 40% of the state's natural runoff water, including a lot of the water that feeds farming in the southern part of the state. This area makes up 11.5% of California's land but it's home to less than 1% of the state's population. The North Coast, as it's defined in California's Fourth Climate Change Assessment, stretches over 20,000 square miles and includes six counties: Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, Lake, Trinity, and Siskiyou. This episode explores how climate change is projected to affect life in the North Coast region.

Riker will have to grow old eventually people, let's get it over with. Here the crew jumps 16 years into the future but Riker's son recreates the Enterprise slightly imperfectly. Peace with the Romulans? Ferengi ensigns? Marrying a simulation? Well, in sci-fi, anything is possible. The writing here goes out of its way to feel original, and the performances by Frakes and guest kid Chris Demetral as Jean-Luc Riker. Too bad Tomalak couldn't figure out what to do with his hands. Spoiler Alert! Worf had a secret baby with K'Ehleyr and thought right before a tense moment of negotiation between the Klingon Empire and the Federation was the best time to lay it on him. Then she has the gall to be murdered for figuring out he was discommendated because of something Duras' father did. How rude! Picard is asked to pick the next leader of the Klingon Empire for some reason, and everything works out in the end with a nice cold plate of revenge. Isn't interstellar politics grand?
