The sermon shed light on how the truth in Christianity is embodied by Jesus Christ. As you read this verse, consider how you understand and embody the truth of Jesus in your own life. What does it mean to you that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life? Day 2: Reading: John 8:12 Devotional: The sermon delved into the image of Jesus as the light of the world. Reflect on what it means to follow the light of Jesus and to be free from the darkness of sin. In your life, where do you see the light of Jesus guiding you? How can you better align your path to follow this divine light? Day 3: Reading: John 6:32-35 Devotional: The sermon explained Jesus as the true bread from heaven, which nourishes our spiritual hunger. Consider the voids in your life that only Jesus can fill. How can you deepen your spiritual nourishment by seeking Jesus, the true bread of life? Day 4: Reading: John 15:1-5 Devotional: Today's reading focuses on Jesus as the true vine. Reflect on the sermon's discussion of our need to bear fruit for God and our dependence on Jesus as the true vine. What fruit are you bearing in your life? How can you cultivate a deeper dependence on Jesus to grow and bear more fruit? Day 5: Reading: Colossians 1:15, 1 John 5:20 Devotional: The sermon ended with the powerful assertion of Jesus as the true God, the image of the invisible God. As you read these verses, contemplate the implications of this truth. How does knowing Jesus as the image of the invisible God affect your understanding of God and your faith journey? How can you align your life more closely with this ultimate truth?

Message for 10/01/2023 "Jesus is the Truth" by Justin McTeer. *All verses are NLT unless otherwise noted* Mark 2:5-12 - Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.” 6 But some of the teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to themselves, 7 “What is he saying? This is blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!” 8 Jesus knew immediately what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you question this in your hearts? 9 Is it easier to say to the paralyzed man ‘Your sins are forgiven,' or ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk'? 10 So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said,11 “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” 12 And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming, “We've never seen anything like this before!” The One The Word The Way The Truth The Life John 14:6 - Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 5:24 - I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life. John 17:17 - Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth John 16:13a - When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth… 3 John 1:3-4 - Some of the traveling teachers recently returned and made me very happy by telling me about your faithfulness and that you are living according to the truth. 4 I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth. John 8:44b - He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. Romans 12:2a - Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. 1 Corinthians 13:6 NASB - it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; Ephesians 6:13-14a - Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth Matthew 7: 24-27 - “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn't obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” Matthew 11:29 - Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Do something Matthew 7:12 - Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. Worry is pointless Matthew 6:25-34 - That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don't worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?' 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. 34 “So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today. Philippians 4:6-7 - Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Feed your spirit Matthew 4:3-4 During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.' Think “me first” Matthew 7:1-5 - Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. 2 For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. 3 “And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own? 4 How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye?5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye. Forgiveness is freedom Matthew 18:21-35 - Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” 22 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven! 23 “Therefore, the Kingdom of Heaven can be compared to a king who decided to bring his accounts up to date with servants who had borrowed money from him. 24 In the process, one of his debtors was brought in who owed him millions of dollars. 25 He couldn't pay, so his master ordered that he be sold—along with his wife, his children, and everything he owned—to pay the debt. 26 “But the man fell down before his master and begged him, ‘Please, be patient with me, and I will pay it all.' 27 Then his master was filled with pity for him, and he released him and forgave his debt. 28 “But when the man left the king, he went to a fellow servant who owed him a few thousand dollars. He grabbed him by the throat and demanded instant payment. 29 “His fellow servant fell down before him and begged for a little more time. ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it,' he pleaded. 30 But his creditor wouldn't wait. He had the man arrested and put in prison until the debt could be paid in full. 31 “When some of the other servants saw this, they were very upset. They went to the king and told him everything that had happened. 32 Then the king called in the man he had forgiven and said, ‘You evil servant! I forgave you that tremendous debt because you pleaded with me.33 Shouldn't you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?' 34 Then the angry king sent the man to prison to be tortured until he had paid his entire debt. 35 “That's what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.” Life is hard John 16:33 - I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” Matthew 5:10-12 - God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. 11 “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. 12 Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way. John 8:31-32 - Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

This week we look at how 'Jesus is...' is the Truth. In our current society its not popular or encouraged to have a 'the' of anything, let alone 'the truth'. Yet Jesus declared that's who He was. Si Mills shares insights around what Jesus was suggesting when making that statement and the life altering reality of what it means. Love, Light, Truth, The Word, Jesus, God....all synonymous terms that CANNOT be divorced from one another. Jesus is The Word. Jesus Is The Truth. Jesus Is the Light. God is Light. God Is Love and since Jesus is God...that means Jesus Is Love. It's not a just an old song by Lionel Richie and The Commodores! It is Biblical fact and truth! He is the True Light. Light is a person. Love is also a person, but both light and love are the same person and that is Jesus!

What is truth? It's more than a series of facts! This week, Ps Ashley Bennett continues our series ‘Jesus is' by exploring how He is the Truth. Jesus isn't just claiming the facts about him are truth, He is claiming He IS truth!
Recap Title: Do All Roads Really Lead To God? Series: Discovering The Real Jesus Key Text: John 14:6 Key Message: As we continue our series ‘Discovering The Real Jesus' studying the New Testament book of John, we come to chapter 14 and another of the seven ‘I am' statements of Jesus. John 14:6 records one of the most famous sayings of Jesus, as He proclaims to His disciples ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' Now these few words of Jesus are considered some of the most controversial words He spoke. As we consider whether all roads really do lead to God, Jesus claims that He alone is ‘the way, the truth and the life' are of huge significance. For if they are true, they have eternal implications for each one of us. Jesus is the way (Matthew 7:13) You Can't Be Saved By Your Own Efforts You Can't Be Saved By The Law You Can't Be Saved By Anyone Else Jesus Is The Truth (John 15: 1-2, 6; Hebrews 12:11) Cutting off Cutting back Jesus Is The Life (John 15:5, 8, 16, Acts 11:26) Abundant fruit Lasting fruit Apply Jesus Is The Way So many people have lost their way in life. Maybe you feel you've lost your direction. Jesus shows us the way to live. He shows us which direction we should go in. (Matthew 7:13) Jesus says there are two paths: one path leads to life and one to death. As much as there is a path to eternal life, equally there is a path to destruction, and many are on it. You Can't Be Saved By Your Own Efforts (Ephesians 2:8-9) Perhaps you've thought that if you do enough good deeds or try to live a good life, that'll be enough to please God, but good works alone won't bring restoration with God. Also, You Can't Be Saved By The Law (John 5:39-40) The Jewish leaders were so caught up in trying to live out every tiny detail of the law that this legalism only hardened their hearts and blinded them to the fact that Jesus who was speaking with them was the only way for them to come into real relationship with God. You Can't Be Saved By Anyone Else (Acts 4:12) (John 14:7) Jesus declares that ‘If you really know me, you will know my Father as well', saying that the only way to have a relationship with God the Father is through accepting Jesus His Son: you cannot reach the destination of God by any other path. And Jesus's claim that He is ‘the way' is what sets Christianity apart from all other religions. Some religions believe in one god, some in many gods and some in no gods. Jesus makes this claim that He alone is the way to the only living God, we have to understand what that means and then decide what we're going to do about it. Do you know that you are on the right path? Don't just assume that you are now because you were in the past. Have you gotten lost along the way or come off the right path? Because Jesus is the only way. Jesus Is The Truth Just as Jesus declared that He is the way, He also said He is THE truth. Jesus powerfully declared that all truth is found in Him. Not a version of the truth or one of many relative truths. Not even that He is someone who could show us how to find the truth, but that He Himself is the total embodiment of all truth. (John 1:14) Truth is not something but rather someone that we know, and that person is Jesus Christ. (John 8:32). The only truly free people in the world are those who have accepted Jesus in their lives. (1 Timothy 4:6-7) We have to guard our minds against being captured by the latest fashionable thinking, or things that just sound spiritual, and hold tight to the truth of Jesus which is found in the Word of God, the Bible. It is so important to know what you believe and that your beliefs are shaped by the teaching of the Bible, not by modern culture, media and an education system that is often very anti-God.(John 16:13-14) The Holy Spirit brings revelation and teaches us through the Word, which is why it is so important that we pray and invite Him to speak to us as we read the Bible each day. Do you know that Jesus is the truth? You may know something close to the truth, or maybe you're living far away from the truth of Jesus. But truth is Jesus therefore you need to follow Him, and know His words. Jesus Is The Life John consistently writes that Jesus is the life because it's true! Many people wrongly think they have to give up the good things of life in order to follow Jesus. But God came and lived among us so that we can have fullness of life! (John 10:10) God doesn't just want you to be alive: He wants you to enjoy life in abundance. You cannot have real satisfying life without Him. But with Him you can have the best life both on this earth and for eternity afterwards in Heaven. And do you know His life? Do you know about Jesus or do you have the life of Christ in you.
May 8, 2022 - Len W Wyatt We've probably all heard the statement, "then you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free." What does it really mean? And, what does it tell us about Jesus? Find out in this study of John 8:31-59.
Truth isn't relative—because truth is a person, Jesus. He said that he's the way, the truth, and the life.

“Again, you have heard that the ancients were told, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall fulfill your vows to the Lord.' But I say to you, take no oath at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God, nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet, nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Nor shall you take an oath by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black. But make sure your statement is, ‘Yes, yes' or ‘No, no'; anything beyond these is of evil origin." - Matthew 5:33-37
