AI is moving faster than almost any technology we've seen before. But is governance keeping up?In this episode of the ThinkData Podcast, I sat down with Rowan Stewart, AI & Data Safety Product Leader at Transcend, and discussed what happens when organisations rush AI products to market without the right data, privacy and governance foundations in place. Before joining Transcend, Rowan spent around six years at BCG X, helping organisations build and launch new technology. Today, she works with companies including Robinhood, Brex and Groupon as they navigate the increasingly complex world of AI and data governance. We discussed why so many businesses are still treating AI governance as something to solve later, whether regulation really has to slow innovation, what responsible AI actually looks like in practice, and the consequences when businesses get it wrong. We also explored one of the biggest challenges facing startups today: how do you continue moving at startup speed while ensuring the AI products you build are trustworthy, compliant and capable of scaling? In this episodeRowan's journey from BCG X to TranscendWhy companies are struggling with AI governanceWhy governance becomes harder when it is bolted on laterHow startups can move quickly without creating unnecessary riskWhat “responsible AI” actually means in practiceThe role data foundations play in trustworthy AIWhere responsibility for AI governance should sit inside an organisationThe commercial and reputational consequences of getting it wrongWhether regulation slows innovation or can actually enable itHow AI governance is likely to evolve as adoption accelerates

Through Killing Commercial and The Power Producers Podcast, he has trained thousands of producers on how to stop competing on price and start getting hired as an advisor before the insurance transaction ever happens. Here's what we got into:→ Why you have to know how to get hired before the insurance transaction ever exists→ How to use AI to prep for a meeting by predicting the exact questions a CFO will ask you, and the ones you should be asking them→ The mirror technique that buys you time when an objection catches you off guard→ Why "I've been with my agent for 15 years" is a green flag, not a wall→ How David turned a $7,500 account into $387,000 in premium by refusing to sell on price→ Why almost every problem account traces back to bad prospecting→ The shift from transactional producer to trusted advisor, and why AI is forcing this conversation now→ What it really takes to build the next generation of producers, including his own sonIf you're a producer, an agency owner, or someone building a book of business in this industry, this is the conversation that will change how you walk into every meeting. This is Season 3 of Transcend with M, where I sit down with the people who are actually building, leading, and changing this industry from the inside.David Carothers, CIC, CRM, is the principal of Florida Risk Partners, a middle-market commercial insurance and risk management firm. The Seventh Pillar? Why Purpose May Be the Missing Key to Aging Well | Ep. 430

For years, The Aging Well Podcast has emphasized six evidence-based pillars of healthy aging: exercise and physical activity, maintaining a healthy body composition, a healthy diet, not smoking, sleep hygiene, and social connectedness. Together, these behaviors are strongly associated with longer life, reduced disease risk, and improved quality of life. But is there a missing pillar? In this episode, Dr. Jeff Armstrong and co-host Corbin Bruton explore the case for adding Purpose as a seventh pillar of aging well. Drawing upon the SPIES Model of well-centered fitness, the work of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Abraham Maslow's later theories of self-transcendence, and Scott Barry Kaufman's book Transcend, they examine whether healthy aging is about more than preserving function and avoiding disease. The conversation explores aging as a process of transformation rather than decline, the role of Purpose in physical and psychological health, the possibility of lifelong growth in consciousness, and the idea that human flourishing may involve moving toward an ever-receding horizon of wholeness. Together, Jeff and Corbin consider whether Purpose is not merely an outcome of aging well, but an essential ingredient in the process itself. Please, support The Aging Well Podcast by hitting the ‘like' button, subscribing/following the podcast, sharing with a friend, and….Tip Jar! In this episode, I sit down with author, researcher, and consulting hypnotist Angel Millar to explore his fascinating book, The Supernatural Woman and the Male Initiate: Bonded Through Dreams.Together, we journey into the mysterious feminine beings who have appeared throughout mythology, dreams, literature, and esoteric traditions - not simply as muses or lovers, but as protectors, teachers, initiators, and powerful forces capable of transforming a man's character and consciousness. From the Norse fylgja, Valkyries, Morgan le Fay, The Wife of Bath, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, to guardian angels, shamanic dream wives, succubi, fairy beings, Freemasonry, sex magic, and the lost purpose of initiation, we explore some of the strangest and most overlooked corners of the Western mystery tradition. We also discuss whether these supernatural beings are archetypes, independent consciousnesses, or multidimensional intelligences; why true initiation must create a permanent transformation of consciousness; how Christianity changed the Western relationship with the physical body; and why caution and discernment are essential when working with occult forces.Later, we dive into the ancient meaning of the daemon, the true nature of genius, creativity received through dreams, altered states of consciousness, self-hypnosis, hypnagogic visions, and the unseen source of inspiration that sometimes seems to move through artists, musicians, writers, and mystics. An incredible episode... Ojas Oasisâ„¢ - Ayurvedic Wisdom and Healing

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 6, 2026 51:51

This episode originally aired in 2025 and, as one of our most-loved conversations, we're sharing it again with you today.Sasha and Erin continue the Chakra series with Agnya, meaning “Divine Permission.” This is the sixth chakra, which is considered the master chakra. It is located at the third eye, the space between the eyebrows, where the pineal and pituitary glands are, which is also where the Ida and Pingala nadis originate. The pineal and pituitary glands play crucial roles in regulating hormones, consciousness, and perception.   The Pineal Gland is considered “the seat of the Soul.” It regulates circadian rhythms by producing melatonin which helps regulate sleep cycles, dreams, and altered states of consciousness. Associated with inner vision, intuition, and spiritual awakening, the pineal gland responds to light and darkness, mirroring the duality of perception (Maya vs. Truth). Considered the “Eye of Shiva” in yogic traditions, Agnya Chakra is linked to higher wisdom and deep meditation. Practices like Kriya Yoga, Trataka (candle gazing), and deep meditation activate the pineal gland, enhancing spiritual perception.  The Pituitary Gland is considered “The Master Gland.” It regulates hormonal balance by controlling the thyroid, adrenal glands, reproductive organs, and metabolism. It produces growth hormone, oxytocin (the love hormone), and stress hormones. It governs physical and emotional equilibrium. It also works as the bridge between the body and higher consciousness.  So when you think Pineal Gland, think Inner Vision, Allowing higher perception, deep meditation, and spiritual connection. When you think Pituitary Gland, think Master Regulator, ensuring hormonal and mental balance, helping integrate spiritual experiences into daily life.  Activating the Agnya Chakra (through Ayurvedic herbs, diet and lifestyle, breathwork, meditation, and chanting mantra such as “Om Namah Shivaya”) influences pituitary function, leading to enhanced mental clarity, intuition, and self-mastery.   The Rudra Granthi (or knot of Shiva) gets untied here, allowing access to the inner guru (intuition, a deeper knowing, natural intelligence, a state of clarity). Rudra Granthi is the final energetic blockage that must be untied for spiritual awakening. This knot represents ego, attachment to identity, and intellectual limitations. When untied or dissolved, Shiva-consciousness, or pure awareness, arises. There is no thought here, because we transcend thought. And we can have phenomenal impact on the field, as it gives rise to genius mind and more kundalini shakti moving up.   Agnya brings Prana to the nervous system. So when we are balanced here, we go beyond habit and the causal plane. We have access to deep self-healing and a quantum mind. We receive the energy and knowledge of the timeless dimension, a state of dynamic stillness. Send us Fan MailThis episode is brought to you by Ojas Oasis Ayurveda, Sasha's private clinical practice. Barry delivered a presentation on personal transformation and goal achievement, using the butterfly metamorphosis as a key metaphor to explain how individuals must undergo internal change to reach their next level of success. He emphasized that the greatest obstacle to achieving goals is often not external circumstances but rather the current version of oneself, requiring a shift from making excuses to taking accountability. Barry outlined three key steps for transformation: awareness (identifying current shortcomings and fears), release (letting go of comfort zones and limiting beliefs), and reinvention (creating new habits and behaviors). He shared his own example of transitioning from automated systems to direct phone calls for agent attraction, and referenced Michael Jackson's 1979 manifesto as an example of complete reinvention. Barry challenged the audience to review their annual goals, assess their progress, and focus on becoming the person worthy of achieving higher levels rather than simply adjusting their goals downward.

This one turns toward the sacred, though we explore where that either/or framing falls short. We also talk about painter and sculptor Jack Whitten, why Dave stayed with this band instead of moving on (his usual m.o,), and whether, at 63, he's summing anything up.(The musical excerpts heard in the interview are from Dave Douglas's Transcend )—Dig DeeperArtist and Album:Visit Dave Douglas and explore his catalog at Greenleaf MusicFollow Dave Douglas on Bluesky, Instagram, and FacebookPurchase Transcend from Greenleaf Music, Bandcamp, or Qobuz, and listen on your streaming platform of choiceCheck out the debut GIFTS album on BandcampDave Douglas's podcast, A Noise From the DeepThe Band — GIFTS:Rafiq Bhatia — guitarist, composer, producer; member of Son LuxJames Brandon Lewis — tenor saxophonist and composerTomeka Reid — cellist, composer, 2022 MacArthur FellowIan Chang — drummer, composer; member of Son LuxReferenced Works and Artists:Duke Ellington's Sacred Concerts — three landmark works premiered between 1965 and 1973Jack Whitten: The Messenger — the retrospective at MoMA (March–August 2025) that shaped TranscendBooker Little — the trumpeter whose 1960–61 records broke open Douglas's compositional thinkingJaimie Branch — trumpeter and composer, 1983–2022Steve Reich — composer, discussed in the context of minimalism and processBooks:A Poetry Handbook by Mary Oliver — the book on craft that Douglas cites as an analog to his compositional methodTeaching:Dave Douglas at the New School — where he teaches Creating Music Workshop and Advanced Ear Training: Monk and Bach—Dig into this episode's complete show notes at podcast.thetonearm.com—• Did you enjoy this episode? AI adoption is no longer just a policy conversation. For many organizations, the bigger question is how to move faster without creating avoidable risk.In this episode of The Tech Trek, Amir Bormand sits down with Aimee Cardwell, CIO and CISO in residence at Transcend, to talk about responsible AI deployment, the tension between speed and control, and how leaders should think about security, compliance, productivity, and customer experience as AI moves through the enterprise.Aimee brings a rare view across the CIO, CISO, and board lens. The conversation gets into why blocking AI often backfires, how prompt redaction can help teams move faster safely, where companies should draw the line on risk, and why some teams may need to rethink old assumptions about tech debt, code ownership, and modernization.Practical Takeaways• Responsible AI depends on the lens. Security, compliance, business, board, and technology teams may all define it differently.• Blocking employee AI usage can create worse outcomes. People may use shadow tools anyway, or teams may fall behind in productivity.• Prompt redaction and enterprise agreements can give teams room to experiment while reducing exposure of sensitive data.• Moving fast is not the same as releasing half finished customer experiences. Bad AI tools can train customers to distrust the entire interaction.• AI may change how teams think about tech debt, refactoring, and whether some legacy systems should be rebuilt instead of patched forever.Timestamped Highlights00:00 Responsible AI deployment and why the definition changes by role02:35 Aimee explains the CIO, CISO, and board perspectives on AI adoption05:14 Why companies that block AI may create shadow usage and slower teams06:52 Prompt redaction as a practical way to let employees experiment safely10:40 How AI risk changes when the data exposure model is different from traditional insider theft15:10 Why releasing poor AI customer experiences can damage trust21:50 Using shared enterprise prompts to raise the quality of AI output across engineering teams26:20 How AI could change the way teams approach security debt and code modernizationOne Line That Stuck“The conversation has flipped, and it is really how can I get the company to go faster.”Pro Tips• Start by identifying what truly makes your business defensible. Not every asset carries the same risk.• Give employees safe paths to use AI instead of pretending they will not use it.• Build shared prompts with engineering standards, approved tools, and company context so teams do not start from scratch every time.• Ask whether old assumptions still hold. Some decisions made sense when changes were expensive, slow, or risky. AI may change that equation.Subscribe to The Tech Trek for more conversations on how modern technical teams are building, hiring, operating, and adapting around AI, data, platform, product, and engineering execution.#ai #agentic #techleadership #engineeringleadership

You can't erase the betrayal. You can't undo what happened. And you can't force yourself to forget the fact that someone you loved broke your trust. But that doesn't mean the betrayal has to define the rest of your life. In this episode, I talk about the idea of “include and transcend” and how it applies to infidelity recovery. Healing after being cheated on is not about pretending it never happened, suppressing the pain, or trying to go back to who you were before. It's about reaching a point where the betrayal is included as part of your story, but it no longer becomes the lens through which you see yourself, your relationship, your past, or your future. We'll also talk about one of the hardest parts of betrayal trauma: holding conflicting truths at the same time. Maybe there was love and betrayal. Maybe parts of the relationship were real, and parts were deeply distorted. Maybe this chapter changed you, but it doesn't have to become your whole identity. If you're struggling to move forward after infidelity, and you feel like the betrayal has taken over your mind, your emotions, or your sense of self, you can book a free strategy call with me to talk about what it would look like to finally move past this at the deeper level.

Dr. Spencer and Karl Nadolsky sit down with David W, a nurse practitioner and one of the actual patients enrolled in the Triumph 1 retatrutide phase 3 trial, to break down the data that was just presented at the American Diabetes Association conference and explain why everyone in obesity medicine is paying very close attention. In this episode they cover what retatrutide actually is and why adding glucagon agonism to the GLP-1 and GIP dual agonism of tirzepatide creates a meaningfully different drug with direct effects on liver lipid metabolism, insulin sensitivity, blood pressure, and fat catabolism that you do not see with semaglutide or tirzepatide alone, what David's personal experience in the 12 milligram arm looked like from dose escalation through steady state including the GI side effects that faded by month seven and the heartburn that a low dose PPI fixed quickly, how David went from 240 pounds and a BMI of 35 down to 167 pounds by the end of the trial representing roughly 30 percent weight loss which is right at the trial average, what the Triumph 1 obesity trial found at 80 weeks with the nine and 12 milligram doses delivering nearly 26 and 28 percent average weight loss respectively and almost half of patients on the highest dose losing 30 percent or more, why the 104 week extension data showing patients who stayed on 12 milligrams reaching 30.3 percent average weight loss is being compared to bariatric surgery outcomes, what the Transcend type 2 diabetes trial showed with average A1C dropping to 5.9 percent on the 12 milligram dose in patients who were on no other diabetes medication, why the 41 percent triglyceride reduction and 20 percent LDL reduction are particularly interesting given that the mechanism appears to involve multiple pathways in the liver that tirzepatide and semaglutide do not touch, what the 70 percent reduction in WOMAC knee arthritis pain scores and 60 percent reduction in sleep apnea events mean for patients who have been told their only option is surgery, how Spencer plans to use retatrutide clinically once it is approved and which patients he thinks are the right candidates, why the gray market research peptide version currently circulating is something both doctors strongly advise against, and what Triumph 2 and Triumph 3 are measuring and when that data is expected. Most people fail not because they lack talent, but because they lack the durability to survive the process. Whether it's in the gym, the boardroom, or at the dinner table with your family, life is going to punch you in the mouth. The question isn't whether you'll get hit—it's whether you've built a character that is Hard to Kill.In this episode, we're breaking down the "Hard to Kill" philosophy. It's more than just being physically capable—though being able to run, jump, and protect your family at a moment's notice is a non-negotiable. It's about developing the character traits of a pro.  We dive deep into:• Physical Sovereignty: Why being a "hard to kill" human starts with your physical capability.• The Business of Durability: How to build a professional life that can withstand any market punch.• The Father & Spouse as a Pro: Applying the "Steph Curry Principle"—doing the small, boring, repetitive work behind the scenes to achieve excellence in your relationships.• Developing Grit: Why the "little shit" you do every day is the only thing that separates the amateurs from the elite.Ready to Transcend? > If you're a high-performing professional ready to stop "surviving" and start becoming impossible to break, let's talk.APPLY HERE

Overwhelm isn't new. It's human. That idea sits at the heart of my conversation with Dr. Max McKeown—strategic advisor, keynote speaker, and author of SuperAdaptability: How to Transcend in an Age of Overwhelm. From the very start, Max challenges the notion that we're living through a uniquely chaotic moment, arguing instead that overwhelm has always been part of the human condition. What follows is a thoughtful, recursive conversation about loops, space, nuance, and the difference between doing productive things and actually living productively. We explore how humans adapt consciously, why systems need slack to function, and how upgrading the way we upgrade ourselves may be the most important skill we have.Six Discussion PointsWhy the “age of overwhelm” isn't temporary—and never really wasThe danger of confusing productivity with productivenessHow loops shape our behavior whether we notice them or notWhy space is essential for adaptation in systems, work, and lifeThe role of nuance, humility, and reason in conscious changeWhat it means to “upgrade your upgrade” through metaplasticityThree Connection PointsSuperAdaptability: How to Transcend in an Age of OverwhelmMax McKeown on LinkedInProductivenessThis conversation is less about answers and more about awareness—about noticing the loops we're already in and choosing how we engage with them. Send us Fan MailAsher is a spiritual entrepreneur, human connection coach and Rabbi in Southern California. His story began at home as a young child where all seemed well from the outside. As the youngest by nine years, he felt a horrible sense of abandonment. His loneliness was compounded by his father's prominence as a rabbi and community leader where the pressure to appear as role models was insufferable. This resulted in a childhood eating disorder and drug use by age 14.Asher was 33 when he lost his multi-million-dollar business, with the resulting bankruptcy destroying what little self-worth he had as a provider to his family – he had hit rock-bottom. Asher found his road to recovery through the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous, where despite the circle of anonymous faces, it was truly the first time in his life he felt the power of shared human connection through service to self and others. The experience marked the debut of an odyssey of self-discovery, trading ego for vulnerability, and leaving the pursuit of pleasure for the pursuit of meaning. Asher decidedly dedicated the rest of his career to helping others help themselves “restore wholeness” in their lives.Armed with a renewed sense of self, profound life experience, and entrepreneurial passion, Asher founded Transcend in 2008, building an internationally recognized recovery community. Now sober twelve years and counting, Asher has counseled hundreds of men and women and built a renowned reputation where he is recognized by his three hallmark pillars of recovery: Accountability, Community, and Unconditional Love.https://a.co/d/gbVDgp9http://Ashergottesman.comhttps://www.instagram.com/theasherg?igsh=bjhpMW50OWYyeWh3-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------https://wig-guru.com - Use Code 'Brainstorm' For 10% Offhttps://www.thevillagerecovery.org/Email: Brainstormwithsony@gmail.com-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For more Brainstorm go to...Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2aPCiuzsIoNKYt5jjv7RFT?si=67dfa56d4e764ee0Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/brainstorm-with-sony-perlman/id1596925257Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@brainstormwithsonyInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/brainstormwithsony

Just one honest conversation with a stranger at a local pizza restaurant and the belief that women deserved a community built on real relationships, not transactions. In this episode we talk about what it really means to build something that lasts. Why the women who succeed aren't the ones who network harder, they're the ones who stopped performing and started connecting. What new insurance producers are still not being taught. And why community isn't a nice-to-have. It's the infrastructure.I also share something personal in this episode that I've never talked about publicly before. This one is for every woman who has ever been the only one in the room and wondered if she belonged there.

Transcend the limits of time and space to send healing to your past, your future, and the sacred Peace Grids anchored across the Earth. Key Insights * The Infinite Bridge of Light: Distance Reiki (Enkaku Chiryo) operates through the HSZSN symbol, creating a bridge of light that dissolves the "logical" barriers of miles and years. It proves that love and healing have no boundaries. * Global Stewardship: By connecting to established Peace Grids, from Mount Kurama to Jerusalem, to Hawaii, you contribute your personal intention with a collective intention for global stability and hope. * Heal Your Past, Ping Your Future Self: Sending Reiki to past versions of yourself isn't just a memory exercise; it is an energetic intervention that softens hard edges and releases burdens your nervous system may still be carrying. * Continuous Thread of Being: Pinging your future self creates a "continuous thread" of light. The Reiki you send today is already woven into the choices and successes of the person you are becoming. People Also Ask (FAQ) * What is the HSZSN symbol? Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen is the Reiki distance symbol used to connect with people, places, or times beyond physical reach. It acts as a bridge of light between the practitioner and the recipient. * Can I send Reiki to someone without their permission? In this journey, we send Reiki to the "highest good" or the "higher self." This ensures the energy is available to them without imposing on their free will. * What are the "Peace Grids"? These are energetic anchor points around the world (including the North and South Poles and sacred sites) where Reiki practitioners focus their intentions to build a luminous web of peace for the Earth. Transcend or Transmit: How Nonprofit Leaders Can Break the Burnout Cycle

You got into nonprofit work to make a difference. So why does it feel like you're running on empty most days?On this episode of All About Capital Campaigns, Amy Eisenstein sat down with Indra Lahiri — an organizational psychologist, certified traumatic stress specialist, and founder of Indraloka Animal Sanctuary — to talk about what burnout really looks like, why it's more dangerous than most leaders realize, and what you can actually do about it.Most people think of burnout as simply being tired. And while exhaustion is part of it, Lahiri explains that burnout is more nuanced than that. It shows up as cynicism about your work, loss of motivation, and behavioral shifts you might not even recognize in yourself—like becoming overly controlling or short-tempered with colleagues and donors. For nonprofit professionals, burnout often stems from financial strain, overwhelming caseloads, or the emotional toll of serving people in crisis. But there's a related condition that's even more insidious: secondary traumatic stress. This occurs when you absorb the trauma of the people you're trying to help. Unlike burnout, which builds gradually, secondary traumatic stress can rewire your brain in ways that mirror the effects of direct trauma. Your amygdala—the part of your brain responsible for detecting danger—gets stuck in fight-or-flight mode. And when that happens, your prefrontal cortex, the region you rely on for strategic thinking, clear communication, and relationship-building, gets hijacked.Think about what that means for fundraising. The skills you need most—asking donors for major gifts, coordinating with board members, explaining your capital campaign vision with clarity and confidence—are exactly the skills that suffer when your nervous system is in overdrive. You might think you're functioning normally, but the people around you can tell something is off.Lahiri frames the choice every leader faces in stark terms: when you encounter trauma or chronic stress, you will either transcend it or transmit it. Transmitting looks like snapping at staff, micromanaging, withdrawing from donor relationships, or creating a culture of fear and reactivity. Transcending means doing the internal work required to regulate your nervous system, process what you've experienced, and lead from a place of stability rather than survival. That framing matters because it makes burnout a leadership issue, not just a personal one. When a nonprofit leader transmits their stress, it ripples through the entire organization—staff morale drops, donor relationships suffer, and the mission takes a hit. When they transcend it, they model resilience for their team and create the conditions for everyone to do their best work.So what does transcending actually look like in practice? Lahiri offers several accessible starting points. First, give yourself permission to take time—even an hour—that is entirely for you, not for your team, your board, or your donors. Second, learn basic nervous system regulation techniques. Deep breathing, meditation, physical movement, or even turning on music and dancing around your living room all count. The point is consistency, not perfection. One of her most practical recommendations is creating what she calls a self-care itinerary. Think of it like a project plan, but for your own wellbeing. Identify the emotional states you need throughout the day—calm, energized, soothed—and map specific activities to each one. Then schedule three small acts of self-care daily: morning, midday, and evening. Treat them as non-negotiable appointments, the same way you would treat a meeting with a major donor. If you're preparing for or in the middle of a capital campaign and wondering whether your organization—and your team—are truly ready, start with a clear-eyed assessment.
