Jess Ledwell is the epitome of Southern Charm with humor and so much heart. Last weekend I was able to meet Jess in person and like most books are better than their movie version. Jess is even more delightful in real life. Her story is one of walking through a season lovingly referred to as the dark place. "It is based on a time where my husband and I had to start all over with their careers, our ministries, our relationship, and we did not handle that transition well, shared Jess. She candidly shares what helped her process through this desert season and how we can Find Morning Glory. They experienced a major church hurt situation and spiraled into a very dark place. So, Jess wanted to learn some ways to help herself transition better so that she was ready for the next major change. The project FINDING MORNING GLORY was born and she would try out a new morning routine every month and report back to her followers, what worked and what didn't for her family, and through that Jess gained wisdom on how to handle change and transition well. 1. Embrace the dark before the dawn2. Stop hitting snooze3. Define your desert3. Jump on the struggle bus4. Rise and Shine5. Set your alarmReflection Questions1. How can you stop pressing "snooze" on your life and stop using those "just" statements?2. How can you define your desert and pick a point you can direct yourself towards? There is no reason manufacturing needs to be dominated by men — even if it, historically, always was. Yet today, as other sectors become more representative, one look around most manufacturing sites and you'll notice the lack of women immediately. Why are we lagging behind? And more importantly, what can we do about it? My guest today, Lesley Ledwell Dukelow , Company President at Ledwell, is a 4th-generation female leader of a family-owned manufacturing business and she has some ideas about how we can tackle the gender gap in manufacturing. In this episode, we discuss: -Supply chain issues in the wake of COVID -Why the labor shortage demands we hire from more underrepresented groups, including women -Why women are less represented in manufacturing and what we can do about it To ensure that you never miss an episode of The Manufacturing Executive, subscribe on Apple Podcasts, or Spotify.

There was an African American or Black man who was on TV during the beginning of Pride Month in June. He had a shelf behind him that was a tarnish elegant gold with a bouquet of pink roses on his right and to tall blue vases over his left shoulder. That to me was a non-verbal communication where he was not just showing off a beautiful arrangement, but that he was balanced in his communication, way of life, and then as I listened and watched this man on TV he was controlled, disciplined and clear in his communication. Communication is so much more than just speaking and hearing words. We with hearing loss are taking in the whole picture of what one is saying, how they are saying it, and what the entire environment is like is a projection of whether that person has credibility in the minds of those with hearing loss. Here are some tips as to approach Zoom or other virtual meetings where one is being recorded in their home office or home to help the hard of hearing. Have lighting on your face. Boliful lighting source that’s on Amazon or you can just take a lamp or three pole lighting source with cool daylight led which lights up any room like the sun is shining. This will help lighten depression as well as make you look like a media star on Zoom. For ADA compliance they recommend that lighting sources be at 500 lux. The 400 is great for a home source. 2. Lighten up your Zoom meeting spaces so we can all be included3. Speak in a 4 count beat. Like Stay Alive by the Bee Gee’s.4. Check with Zoom to offer captioning to include the Deaf for ADA compliance Here are some other suggestions for better communication both on the screen and off. Pause when you’ve ask if there are any questions to give the hard of hearing person time to catch up. If you are hard of hearing on a virtual call. Physical raise your hand to let the host know you have a question, either you the deaf applause where you raise your hands above your head and wave them back and forth or physically put your hands together and clap if the sound on your virtual media is turned off. People do need acknowledgment these days. Ask before you ask. That is ask the team if now is a great time to ask that question before you ask. If you have a 1000 people on the Zoom connection it is hard to give attention to a hard of hearing person. So, ask that they ask their question in chat or comments and if they are comfortable with their face being shown if it is a hard of hearing question that’s being addressed. Most people that are hard of hearing are traditionally sensitive, so be kind. The tone of your voice has so many different implications in communication. “Just go to your table with your coffee”. Could be interrupted as demeaning. Use active communication. Teresa did you hear me say that you are spilling your coffee? We are all stressed these days. It’s just part of the pandemic experience. 5. Be curious what does the other person have going on and having said that be tactful. For emotional intelligence it is best not to say anything if you cannot say something nice, kind and upliftings. I personally do not believe that silence is always golden. Sometimes it is abusive if used to cut the other person off. As many have learned during the COVID experience isolation does strange things to the mindI personally decided to invest MindMovies by Natalie Ledwell during this time. Where she has gratitude, love & abundance, family & friends, positivity, and wealth mindset on her Youtube channel that has music for subliminal mind conditioning, pictures with captioning for those that needed it in written form and a great picture to help one visualize. She captures almost the senses with her presentations. I can imagine tasting and smelling the cleanest of the cars she presents.

I’ve got a great guest to share with you on this episode of the Channel Mastery podcast; you’re going to meet Frank Ledwell, founder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief at OutdoorX4 (pronounced “Outdoor by 4”). His title is an adventure lifestyle publication that caters to people who access adventure with their vehicles. Wait, isn’t that all of us? Well, yes and no. And that’s why I thought it would be so great to host Frank on the Channel Mastery podcast! Verde has a lot of clients who are hoping to genuinely serve people who classify themselves as “overland” fans, or more accurately, according to Frank, people who love to access adventure with their vehicles. Let’s be honest - we ALL access adventure with our vehicles, or have at some point. But for some reason, the communities are separate. I see that changing, as does Frank, and that’s what we explore in this episode. What’s more, you’ll get to discover the best channels to genuinely tap into the vehicle-supported adventure community, learn how and why they congregate and most important? Why the DIY-community is so powerful in this space. To Frank, “overlanding” is the blend between a road trip and backpacking. I couldn’t agree more. We would have been remiss not to touch on the rise of the electric vehicle and how it’s growing the vehicle-supported space in a huge way. This is a great show and I know it will give you the nudge you need to expand your community more intentionally to those who call themselves ‘overlanders.’ GUEST PROFILE: Frank Ledwell is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of OutdoorX4. In 2006, he co-founded, published and was Editor-in-Chief of JPFreek Adventure Magazine, and was involved with the publications through mid-2012.
