Adopted in 2008, the New Legislative Framework (NLF) establishes a common set of rules, definitions, and procedures that ensure products placed on the EU market are safe, compliant, and reliable, and that their conformity can be verified and trusted. It provides a coherent framework that supports both consumer protection and innovation and ensures fair competition within the Single Market. The European Commission is currently working on the revision of the NLF – a timely opportunity to modernise Europe's regulatory toolbox, simplify procedures, and strengthen the competitiveness of EU industries. The upcoming reform will need to address the realities of an increasingly digital, interconnected, and sustainability-driven economy, while preserving the confidence that underpins the Single Market. In this context, some stakeholders see an opportunity to make product compliance in Europe simpler, more consistent, and more efficient by enhancing the consistency of the quality infrastructure ecosystem. Better coordination between national authorities and more uniform application of standards would ease administrative burdens and support a more predictable environment for conformity assessment bodies (CABs), enabling them to fulfil their role in verifying that products placed on the market are trusted. As technologies advance and products become more dynamic, acknowledging this evolution is essential in modernising the NLF's regulatory tools. The current framework is designed for products with static features. However, a rising number of products is now subject to changes after their placement on the market, including software updates, connected functionalities, or new sustainability performance claims. To strengthen consumer trust and help businesses maintain compliance throughout the product lifecycle, the revised NLF should introduce new mechanisms to enable the assessment of evolving product claims.Listen to this Euractiv Hybrid Conference to discuss the ongoing revision of the New Legislative Framework, and what role it can play in fostering competitiveness. Questions to be addressed include:- What should the main priorities be to ensure that the NLF remains future-proof and continues to uphold trust, safety, and competitiveness?- As products become increasingly complex and incorporate continuous digital or sustainability claims, does the current NLF still offer adequate tools for manufacturers to demonstrate compliance credibly?- With regulation now extending beyond products to systems, processes, and digital technologies such as AI and cybersecurity, how should the NLF evolve to stay both practical and risk-based?- Where is the greatest opportunity for improvement in the NLF to make the European system more agile?Suppo

It's MLB postseason time! And this week, the guys threw down their Phillies Postseason Preview on the Table! What will see from the Philadelphia Phillies pitchers and batters as they head into the divisional round? Do we truly believe this team can win the World Series? This week, John Stolnis from TheGoodPhight.com and Hittin' Season podcast joined the show to break down this Phillies postseason. A fantastic discussion! But first, the guys talked about the Eagles offensive situation heading into week 5, and whether the kicking balls - as discussed by Vic Fangio - should be scrutinized more by the NLF. (Approx. 6:05)From there, they got into some Philadelphia 76ers camp stories. Joel Embiid's zen-like attitude and might Adem Bona be Embiid's backup? (Approx. 22:50)The guys then dove into their Phillies Postseason Preview. What has this team learned from the past? Have they matured as a team over the past year? (Approx. 39:35)What they threw down on the Table this week was a great, in-depth conversation with John Stolnis from the Hittin' Season podcast and The Good Phight about what we'll see from the Phillies in the postseason. What's the theme of this Phillies postseason? What kind of Bryce Harper will we see at the plate? The pitching is expected to be stellar. All of this and much more this week on the Table! This week is America's 249th birthday and there are few things more quintessentially American than football. So we have a special treat for you, a conversation with Marissa Solis. She is the steward of the NFL brand and serves as SVP of Global Brand and Consumer Marketing. The National Football League is by far the most valuable sports league in the world. She has been instrumental in widening the aperture and appeal of the game and the enterprise. Demographics made this an imperative, technology made it possible, and with them business of sports - which is as much about playing games as it is about media and entertainment. Exhibit One (of many): the most recent NLF draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Marissa has had a remarkable career managing global brands at companies like Procter & Gamble and PepsiCo and holds degrees from The University of Texas at Austin and Georgetown University.

Free agency in baseball and the NLF conference championship games got me thinking. Athletes have ways to quantify their value but teams don't always value the same. We as regular people need to set our value in different ways.

Give now to support “Make Me Smart.” Thank you so much for your generosity, happy holidays and we'll see you in the new year. Anime seems to be just about everywhere these days: film, music videos, the NFL and big streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. “Anime is colossal. In terms of raw revenue, anime and the NLF are tied at about $20 billion in [annual global] revenue,” said Chris Plante, editor in chief and co-founder of Polygon at Vox Media. “When you think of anime, it can be seen as niche, but the reality is that couldn’t be further from the truth.” On the show today, Plante explains anime economics, what's behind the rise of anime in the United States and some of the problematic aspects of the medium. Later, we'll discuss how climate change is impacting cherry blossom season and why the commercial real estate crisis could be a big problem for regional banks. Later, one listener calls in on a landline about landlines. And, this week's answer to the Make Me Smart question comes from a digital illustrator based in Long Beach, California. Today I am discussing the beauty of a masculine man and what that entails; as well as the impact social media has on us on relationships. Todays listener questions include "why does my wife always need to pee post sex?!" and one mans sex routine becoming a bore. (due to a NLF 'no libido wife' ) leaving him feeling doomed and headed (again) to a dead bedroom situation. Ask anon @ www.thehornyhousewifepodcast.com Join the PATREON here. In this edition of the Colts Blue Zone Podcast, Dave Griffiths, Mike Chappell and Matt Adams look ahead at the team's first preseason game, discuss a significant injury concern and break down the "unofficial depth chart."The show starts on a decidedly downbeat note, as second-year receiver Josh Downs suffers an ankle injury during 7-on-7 work at camp after a tackle from safety Nick Cross. How long could he be out? We'll explore the impact on the offense and the wide receiver room.Conversely, what does the tackle mean for Cross and the safety position (14:25)? Why haven't the Colts done more to shore up an obvious need (20:08)?Plus: we break down the "unofficial" depth chart ahead of Indy's first preseason game (27:05), share a few stories from Dwight Freeney's Hall of Fame induction (31:04), debate Adam Vinatieri's case for Canton (36:35) and wonder how only one Colts player landed on the NLF's Top 100 list (43:40).
Name change for BIG XII might be en route
Here’s everything we talked about today: “Who watches anime? Polygon surveyed more than 4,000 people to find out” from Polygon “Anime Market to Reach USD 62.7 Billion by 2032” from Yahoo Finance “Anime Is Booming. So Why Are Animators Living in Poverty?” from The New York Times “Sony Jacks Up Prices for Crunchyroll and Kills Funimation” from Gizmodo “From Niche To Mainstream: The Unstoppable Global Popularity Of Anime And How It Happened” from BuzzFeed “Streaming and covid-19 have entrenched anime's global popularity” from The Economist “Naruto Movie in the Works With Destin Daniel Cretton” from The Hollywood Reporter “Cherry blossom forecast: We predict peak bloom in D.C. around March 21” from The Washington Post “Early jacaranda bloom sparks debate about climate change in Mexico” from Reuters “Commercial Real Estate Market Plunge Has Lenders Facing a Brutal Reality” from Bloomberg “Comic: Tienes economic anxiety? Artist Julio Salgado reflects on changes in creative industries” from the Los Angeles Times Are you a fan of anime? Tell us about your favorite anime series!
