In this episode, I continue my evaluation of Q1. In part one of my review, I discussed my launches in December and January. Now, I dive into my post-launch process.Reflecting and evaluating is a powerful business tool. My December launch failed, and it is tough to look back at the time because it brought up a lot of negative emotions. But if I don't confront those feelings and assess what worked or didn't work, I will carry that experience into my future launches.I learned so many amazing things about my offers and am making positive changes to make my business more successful. I share how a peer review shifted my perspective and the benefits of fostering a relationship like that as an entrepreneur.I also recap my goals for the rest of the year and give you a sneak peek at what you can expect to hear in future episodes. It is not easy to own a business. There will be ups and downs. But, to grow and succeed, you have to be willing to reflect, evaluate, and pivot. Hello & Welcome To The Latest Episode!I'm so excited to share a recent conversation I had with exciting pelvic health physio and researcher, Dr Malgorzata Starzec-ProserpioIn 2024, Gosia released 2 papers that I think will have profound implications for the way we work with women who have pelvic pain and dyspareunia (and maybe challenge some biases along the way!)'From Fragmented to Whole: Multimodal Physiotherapy as a Multifaceted Approach to Pelvic Pain in Women - Clinical Commentary' Starzec-Proserpio et al 2024'To contract or not to contract: should we use pelvic floor muscle exercises in the treatment of dyspareunia?' If so, when? What are the consequences?Evidence for the use of pelvic floor muscle exercises in the treatment of dyspareunia – effects and outcomesOur Conclusions: Nuances, nuances, and more nuances!

This week, DJ Louie is joined by music journalist and co-host of the podcast Legends Only, Bradley Stern, to discuss the original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson! First, Louie and Bradley discuss Kelly's legendary run on Idol, from being deemed “forgettable” by Simon Cowell to winning the show and America's hearts in a landslide victory, her display of down-home affability and incredible versatility on the show, equally adept at Motown as she was at rock, show-tunes and pop ballads, her first album, 2003's Thankful, which played up her chameleonic and powerful vocal talent but played down her singular personality to middling results, how she fought tooth and nail to take more control of her artistry on her juggernaut second album, 2004's more rock-oriented classic Breakaway, and calcified her on-record scorned-by-resilient persona on its signature hit, the iconic kiss-off anthem “Since U Been Gone”. Louie and Bradley then cover Kelly's legendary and very public battle with label-boss Clive Davis over her third record, 2007's largely self-penned My December, her mea-culpa for that defiance, 2009's All I Ever Wanted, how Kelly eventually reached a detente with the powers that be in the 2010s and unlocked a very successful second decade of her pop career, and how all the qualities that made us fall in love with her twenty years ago as a cocktail waitress with a big voice and a dream on Idol lead to a third wave of her career as a beloved daytime talk show host, as well as to her viral covers series, “Kellyoke”. Finally, Louie and Bradley rank Kelly Clarkson in the official Pop Pantheon. In a recent blog I asked what would happen if we only had a thousand words to speak or write before we die. It is a good practice to understand how measuring our words can help us deal with people, especially in selling. One way you can successfully influence people is to understand how people think. Frankly, they want to talk about themselves. This is called self-disclosure. The sooner you understand this, the more successful you will be. My December issue of Success Magazine references a study by Harvard researchers whose MRI scans reveal that self-disclosure stimulates the part of the brain that responds to rewards much the same as thoughts of food and sex. This explains why we love Facebook and Twitter. Let me be perfectly clear. I enjoy talking about my family, whatever I am doing and especially myself. I am also on Facebook and Twitter. So, before you call me a hypocrite, please let me explain. People that are successful in selling must learn to put other people first. Also, great salespeople that choose to develop the following skills can and will be among the highest income earners. Here are five tips to help you measure your words in conversations. Acknowledge that you talk too much and make a conscious effort to improve. Practice the 70/30 Rule. Let the other person talk seventy percent of the time. Become a better listener. In the words of Stephen Covey, listen with the intent to understand, not respond. Genuinely be interested in the other person by asking good questions. Practice, practice, practice. Opportunities are available to you everyday to improve your conversation skills. Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. ~ Proverbs 17:28 The difference between a smart man and a wise man is that a smart man knows what to say, a wise man knows whether to say it. ~ Frank M. Garafola I am not sure that talking about myself is better than food and sex. You can decide for yourself. Have a great week! Pierce
