One of the pages on Leigh Heggarty's website is called “Me Me Me, it's all about me”. A cursory look through this and the other pages would most clearly identify someone who has lived a substantial part of his life very much NOT promoting Me Me Me, rather being very self deprecating and perhaps uncomfortable talking about himself or what he has achieved in life. This all sounds very familiar to me, I've often used self deprecating “humour” to lighten situations where I've felt I'm a bit of an imposter. I'm tons better but it's a battle…. And it is a battle, but a battle for what? It makes me wonder about all the characteristics that make up our very unique personality and why some traits are stigmatised and others – like confidence, self-belief - are seen as the symbol of success, whereas others such a shyness even introversion are not. Is society at large's definition of success fucked up? Please write your answer in no more than 8,000 chapters or just one word. Anyway, you wouldn't notice any of the shyness of childhood when he steps on stage to pick up his guitar - well, perhaps a slightly bashful smile and wave to the crowd - to play with Ruts DC, a band that has already secured a most wonderful legacy and continues to do so with each gig they play and each piece of music that they release.https://www.iwannajumplikedeedee.comI Wanna Jump Like Dee Dee is the music podcast that does music interviews differently. Young partygoers might know Man Power, AKA Geoff Kirkwood, as the earnest geezer going back-to-back with DJs like Ewan McVicar, Paul Woolford, La La and Skream—peak-time specialists with a fine line in boofy bangers and ravey techno. Kirkwood is also a dab hand at the kind of elliptical house and deep cut detours favored by '00s labels like DFA and Optimo. In spite of a long track record as a producer and promoter, if you had to boil Kirkwood's work in recent years down to a single quality, it might be altruism. He hails from North Shields, a small town fringing the boundary of Newcastle in England's oft-neglected North East, and wears his heritage proudly. The Me Me Me label boss's involvement in a flurry of civic restoration, and no-filter paeans to the importance of working class involvement in culture, have become as central to his life as music-making itself. For an accomplished DJ who has played at nearly every good club you could name, that's no small feat. So which side of Man Power were we in for? The answer on RA.940 is: both. '60s free verse poetry, Zebra Katz, Gesaffelstein and John Carpenter in the opening stretch? Makes sense. Octave One punching through Rozalla? You got it. An extended Joe Claussell workout atop Radiohead's "Everything In Its Right Place"? Why not. In Kirkwood's hands, it all goes down as smooth as a pint of Newcastle Brown. @manpower-1 Read more at https://ra.co/podcast/940

Bside Incoming: Alinka For our 186th show we take a trip over the Atlantic ocean to Chicago and warmly invite Alinka to showcase some of her favoruite club equipt house and tech records. "There are at least a few people in this thing determined to keep House Music weird. Chicago's Alinka is one of them." – Terry Matthew, 5 Magazine. Alinka is the kind of DJ other DJs will tell you about. She has a unique power on the decks that comes from lifelong passion and time served, with a focused devotion to her first love – house music. Raised on Chicago's vibrant house sound with toes dipped into Detroit techno, Europe's more robust approaches to bass music and the myriad of genres coming from cities like Berlin, London, and Paris. Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Moving to Chicago in the late 80's, she fell head over heels for the chart sounds of Madonna and Janet Jackson. Then came house music from local radio shows where you could frequently hear tracks by Chicago legends like Cajmere and DJ Funk, and shows like Sonic Boom helped expose underground music to the masses. By the late ‘90s, music had taken over her life. Teenage Alinka immersed herself in the dance music scene, spending her summers pulling double shifts at a local pool and moonlighting for rave promoters to build up enough cash to buy decks. After a year of skipping class to relentlessly practice her mixing skills, she began her full-time musical pursuit. Working for various club promoters, doing odd jobs passing out flyers and helping with party logistics - anything just to get into clubs underage to see her favorite DJs - all while spending hours digging for tracks at Chicago's legendary record shop Gramaphone. In 2001, Justin Long recruited her to be the opening resident for his Dotbleep party at Smartbar where she honed her skills for the best part of a decade. In 2012, an impromptu meeting with former Hercules and Love Affair vocalist, Shaun J. Wright, changed her life forever. Their evolving friendship resulted in what would be the first of many musical collaborations. The pair launched their Twirl parties and label, continually striving to inspire each other both musically and spiritually; the result has been an impressive catalog of material for both of them collaboratively and individually on the likes of The Classic Music Company, Jackathon Jams, Crosstown Rebels, Leftroom, and of course Twirl, where as well as their own material the duo have welcomed renowned artists like Spencer Parker, Virginia, LA-4A, Kim Ann Foxman, and Jason Kendig onto the label. Recent years have seen Alinka really hit her stride as a producer with successful releases on world-renowned labels like Rekids, Crosstown Rebels, Need Want, Permanent Vacation, Harry Romero's Bambossa Records, He.She.They, and Peggy Gou's Gudu Records, which is forthcoming in 2024. She also turned out a standout collection of remixes for labels Me Me Me, Live At Robert Johnson, Lone Romantic, Keinemusik, Get Physical, and Pets Recordings. Now living in Berlin, Alinka has well and truly found her feet and inspiration. Alinka has used this base to throw down at parties across Europe from Berghain/Panorama Bar to Circoloco, with regular visits back to the US and Kyiv to play at stand out bars. Her evolution continues with the recent relaunch of her Twirl imprint, highlighted by the ‘Day Dreamer', ‘Sorry For Not Trending' and ‘Edgewater' EPs that finely balance Alinka's future-focused ethos, with an unmistakable, proud passion for her Chicago heritage. Check out just released Edgewater EP here! - https://alinka.lnk.to/TWIRL032 Enjoy the ride. In the latest installment of our "Delayed with..." podcast series, we're thrilled to present a mix by the talented Edmondson. Hailing from Newcastle and now based in London, Edmondson's musical journey has taken him on adventures in Berlin and the scenic landscapes of southern France. His unique sound, deeply rooted in the UK's dynamic movements of the past two decades, has also drawn inspiration from far-reaching corners of the world. With releases on labels like Me Me Me and Hypercolour, as well as his very own imprint, Lissoms, Edmondson's music has found its way into eclectic sets across the spectrum. From boat parties to the legendary Berghain, his tracks have graced diverse dancefloors. Edmondson's passion for playing and collecting music since 2006 shines through in his DJ sets, which effortlessly traverse the sonic landscape. His mixes encompass a rich variety of genres, spanning from ambient to techno, weaving through the various shades of house, UK garage, neo-soul, disco, and modern minimal. Edmondson's latest mix for our podcast series is a masterfully curated, stylish musical narrative that gradually builds in energy with each passing chapter. It serves as the perfect soundtrack for a late-night drive through the rain-soaked streets of Manhattan, where the city's skyscrapers cast their luminous glow, and the urban pulse remains undeterred by the persistent rain. The mix skillfully strikes a balance between melancholy introspection and the irresistible grooves of a late-night adventure. When asked about his creative process for this mix, Edmondson's response offers a glimpse into the artistic mind behind the music: "I always like to think that a good mix has a natural flow embedded into it, almost like a day/night cycle. I used the first half to focus on combining some more delicate and introspective sounds (the kind which Delayed does such a good job of celebrating) and went a bit more off the cuff with some more deep & clubby stuff towards the end. I feel like autumn is always a fruitful time for music discovery as life moves back indoors, so I tried to make the kind of mix which I would hope to stumble upon for the colder days & nights." https://soundcloud.com/edmondson https://www.instagram.com/edmondsonandon/ https://www.facebook.com/edmondsonmusic https://soundcloud.com/lissoms https://lissomsxyz.bandcamp.com www.itsdelayed.com www.instagram.com/_____delayed/ www.facebook.com/itsdelayed

They are the latest releases in a long line that mix up sensuous disco, rough-edged house music and plenty of culturally engaging sounds in between. As a result, she sits at the forefront of the underground as a DJ, promoter, producer and radio host who centers gender, queer and egalitarian issues in her work. Opener 'Sodomy' is a deep and steamy rhythm with whispered vocals drawing you into an intimate atmosphere. Acid lines rumble down low while blasts of synths add a stark counterpoint as the intensity grows and you find yourself riding on the crest of a rumbling techno wave. The brilliantly loose drums and percussion of 'Hotel Date' are overlaid with slick synth arps that encourage dancers to release their inner kinks. Guttural vocal sounds and dark wave vocals, the sound of spandex and lashings of acid all bring further life and energy to this sensual workout. The brilliant trio of originals closes with the loved-up 'Where Are You,' a deeper and more introspective track with synths radiating hope and happiness over romantic downtempo drums. 'Hotel Date' gets remixed by Chinaski, a resident DJ at Robert Johnson and producer for labels like Running Back with a hooky synth sound that draws inspiration from his love of soundscapes and cinematography. He brings 80s synth vibes to his soaring and glistening future-retro disco workout. Man Power remixes 'Sodomy' and is one of the most versatile artists in the scene. The Me Me Me label head does it all from dark disco to raw techno on a tasteful range of outlets while playing the most cultured parties. Here he lays down heavy but rubbery drums that build the pressure with sensuous vocals and taught synth phrases driving home the groove. 'Sodomy' is another dark and alluring package of salacious club sounds

Teaching our children to be selfless and think of others first is a big parenting goal always looming in the backs of our minds, but seriously, it's hard in the day-to-day moments of life to really instill this into our children's minds and hearts.  Our society says worry about yourself! Focus on yourself! Take care of yourself! ME ME ME!    But the scripture is clear, “So he answered and said, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.”  Luke 10:27  Love God.  Love others.  That's our marching orders.     Our friend Rebecca Rapp-Salas joins us again to talk about raising children who are Kingdom minded and have a heart for serving others.  Rebecca grew up on the mission field and met her husband on the mission field.  The Salas' love Jesus and have devoted their lives to loving Him and others.  This was an easy conversation.  Rebecca and her husband David are raising their daughters Amelie and Toni to live out Luke 10:27. They serve others well.  Rebecca gives us ideas, thoughts, and intentional ways we can raise children to think of others first and desire to serve them.    We don't have to teach our children to focus on their own needs.  That comes with skin. ☺ We must teach our children to see those in front of us whom God created that need our love, impact, friendship, and possibly our food, clothes, money and Jesus.     The Raising Sinners Podcast is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. The thought of him made her blood boil, her fists clench and her brow sweat. What had begun as shock had soon been replaced by sadness and swiftly that had contorted itself into anger. The person she'd known all these years wasn't really who she thought he was, and now she couldn't even bear to look at him, it were as though he had become a stranger. He'd been exiled from her home, from her life, from her inner circle, but there was a mountain to climb when it came to exiling him from her mind. After racking up appearances on Me Me Me and Riotvan, among others, German-born, Brooklyn-based producer Tony Y Not crash lands on Live At Robert Johnson with a stellar debut. She's already built a distinct sound through her previous releases which orbits around metallic synth lines, pulsing dynamic rhythms and dark moody atmospheres, all of which come together on her new three-tracker. Titled Your Exile In My Mind, the EP takes cues from techno, euro disco, acid, Italo and wave, and is without a doubt made with a dark dance floor in mind.

Our SONG TO CHEW this week, is a 'batch of songs'.  We'll listen to the IRISH SEATBELT JIG, APPLE JUICE, ME-ME-ME, and SPIN AROUND.  We'll 'chew on' how impactful these repetitive little children's songs can be!  This kind of song gets into our heads, like some of the commercial jingles and 'ear worms' we find ourselves humming or singing to ourselves, word-for-word, years later!  Unnoticed by us, these simple jingles and musical memes pass on our cultural messages too!  Some messages are healthy for us, like my seatbelt song.  It's a safety message.  But other messages are 'not-so-wonderful', like some of the sexist, patriarchal and racist messages that pack our brains with images that separate us and de-humanize us.  We won't be singing any of those today.  When music's combined with simple rhymed lyrics, they can affect us very powerfully, and we unknowingly absorb their ideas.  Today's four songs each have simple messages: "Seatbelts save lives!" "Anyone can make up a song about anything!" "Thinking about ourselves is our job when we're a kid!" and, "General rules don't always work for all people."  Thanks for listening. Please subscribe and invite your friends, and I'll be back next week with another ‘Song to Chew'.  Bye for now! ~ Listen and subscribe to my Songs To Chew podcast anywhere you get podcasts, or: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/peter-alsop-s-songs-to-chew/id1446179156 ~ CAMPING WITH DADS = https://www.amazon.com/Camping-Dads-Peter-Alsop/dp/B08CS871QW/ref=sr_1_1 ~ www.FaceBook.com/WeLikePeterAlsop ~ www.Youtube.com/peteralsop  = videos ~ www.Patreon.com/peteralsop  = support my music & other artistic endeavors ~ www.peteralsop.com/music  = CDs & downloads

Enrica Bortolazzi, Franco Berrino"La foresta di perle"Solferino Librihttps://solferinolibri.itChe parole sussurrerebbero gli alberi, se fossimo ancora in grado di decifrare il loro linguaggio? Quale visione unisce l'aquila reale e l'abete bianco? Eve Eurydice speaks with Rene Steinke of our growing hunger for spirituality. In a culture that mitigates the shock of our mortality through NFT Blockchain dream states and meta-sublimation rather than divine ritual in sync with the cycles of nature, that has replaced magic with coding, math, and disembodied commerce, religious people, creative people, spiritual people, ethical people, wellness people are looking for paths to transformation using repurposed languages of religion (see the shallow sentimentality of TED talks). We all have the religious impulse. Love is a crucible where we alchemically meet and merge into one; love requires trust, faith, and self-abnegation. Humans can only reclaim faith by self-sacrifice. We give something up to gain god. We cleanse the pressure of culture to regenerate it. Pre-institutional religion is transgressive. We have lived through the thesis of patriarchy for 6 millennia. We are now in anthithesis. Now there is messy overexcess because we are in decline. and Art can clarify that. The genius of art is that it sees that the contradictions do not exist. The way we resynthesize must be painful. It's how transformation works; it's painful. (Read Ovid.) We can only rediscover faith in each other, in God, in Nature, outside the names we now use and narratives we parrot. America was settled by people of profound religious need and purity. Evangelicals' literal reading of biblical texts and willful ignorance of the poor in favor of ME ME ME individualism is a textbook example of how religion can be turned into dogma and the need for salvation into social control. The anti-elite sentiment of born again believers is capitalized to preserve the interests of obscene capital. The early Christian pre-organized community was matriarchal. The Mary Magdalene gospel found in the old scrolls didn't make it into the canon. The feminist reclaiming of Christianity failed. Rene speaks of the artist Hilma af Klint and her relationship to religion and spirituality. Like Blavatsky in the Theosophical Society, she held seances with female friends seeking an intuitive vision outside of patriarchy. Art used to be religious. Post Enlightenment, art became commerce. Embroidery is still a meditative practice. Hand-writing is still a meditative practice. Both counterbalance our Computational Culture. Eurydice sees the primacy of Mind over Body as detrimental to our culture and indicative of civilizational decline. Rene Steinke is the author of the novels The Fires, Holy Skirts, and Friendswood. Holy Skirts, a novel based on the life of the Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, was a finalist for the 2005 NBA. ⚡️ For podcast, merch, art, go to https://Eurydice.net and https://SpeakwithEve.com For Apple podcast go to https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/speak-sex-w-eve/id1448261953?uo=4 ☀️For videos, go to https://www.youtube.com/eveeurydice

David Binns spent 15 years in the real estate business. started in commercial real estate then transitioned to Keller Williams Realty where he rose the racks as a sales trainer and was top 25 in Canada for 2015, 2016 and 2017.David is a former Sr. Program Leader for one of the world's largest personal development companies, landmark where led programs that transformed the lives of thousands of people.David is the CEO and Chief Agent Attraction Officer of Recruitment Consulting for Real Estate and Founder of Rocket Fuel For Realtors, launching in 2022.He's been a top producing Realtor for years and has a huge passion for transformation and human performanceIf you would like access to a free private training we did where we discussed the top 3 niches to get listings right now then head over to eliteagentsecrets.com and download the training for Free!Topics Discussed: Success lies in consciousness; its not about hustle its about expanding and deepening your level of consciousnes so you can be consistent with what you want; Recruiting vs attraction - it all started in berkshire and hathaway, old paradigm - ME ME ME, always saying "join us, we're the best", he did it the opposite way - the new paradigm - biggest thing that you need to deal with is "you're not the best", agents want absolute certainty that you can take them from current situation to their desired situation, you have to make sure that where that person is and where he wants to go is a match for your company; thats how he looked for perfect agents; when speaking with potential agent you have to listen for the gaps of what they want and where they want to go - "this pin point where you're currently limited with the type of training - what do we have at our company that will solve that pin point"; the question to ask - what is it about your brokerage that doesn't really work for you. One of the things he constantly dig for is that other brokerages don't keep their promises to agents; "whats more important feeling of being loyal or actually fulfilling what you want in life; loyalty for a lot of people are actually not loyalty but guilt; Listen with care and intent; He says to people "i'm not here to make you do anything. I just want to make sure that you're getting what you need so you can get from where you are to where you want to go and grow";

Some people think that "it's all about me" is the same as "keep the focus on yourself." It's not. They're very different. Opposites, in fact. When we're focused on the external world ("it's all about me"), we're more likely to be exasperated, resentful and unfulfilled. That's because we can't do much about the external world. But when we learn to keep the focus on ourselves, we're much more likely to be proactive and to live our lives on purpose. Despite living in a society that constantly preaches "ME ME ME" and self-love, self-centeredness, there comes a point where this comes too far. There is a great deal of interest surrounding some musicians from Newcastle at the moment, they happen to be called Last Waltz and their music is everything but what you might expect to slow dance to. Since 2011 they have been steadily building steam, consistently releasing interesting music on some impressive labels which include the likes of Endless Flight, Future Boogie, World Unknown and most recently Man Power's newly formed label Me Me Me. They will return to play Love International this coming summer after a well received appearance in 2016 and the recent announcement came following a flurry of appearances across Europe. We are delighted to Lee from Last Waltz to the Ransom Note Mix series as he steps up with a delicious assortment of music.
