State (1:02:20) ▶️ BEST BET (1:15:43) In this Week 2 preview of the Bet the Board podcast, Todd Fuhrman, Brad Powers, and Payne Insider dive into several marquee matchups, beginning with Texas @ Michigan. The panel discusses Texas' early season form and how Michigan's defense could challenge Texas' offensive rhythm, pointing out key positional matchups to watch. Next, the conversation shifts to the rivalry between Iowa State and Iowa. As always, the battle for the Cy-Hawk Trophy is expected to be a defensive struggle, and the team breaks down the tendencies of both sides, focusing on the low-scoring nature of these games in recent years. For the Non-Power 4 Pick, the team looks at an under-the-radar matchup that presents value, with Brad Powers identifying a potential upset opportunity involving an overlooked team with an edge in the trenches. When discussing Colorado @ Nebraska, the crew examines how Deion Sanders' revamped Colorado team will handle their first road test against Nebraska. Nebraska's ground game could control the clock, while Colorado's speed will be key on offense. The panel also covers Boise State @ Oregon, highlighting Boise State's resilience and Oregon's firepower, especially after Boise's solid opening game. Finally, they analyze Tennessee @ N.C. State, noting how Tennessee's high-tempo offense could create issues for N.C. State's secondary. The episode wraps up with the Best Bet, with each analyst providing a sharp pick based on key metrics, trends, and potential market inefficiencies. The team focuses on getting value in lines before they move. Subscribe to Bet The Board Podcast

In this episode, insider Nick Osen was joined by Iowa Hawkeyes' reporter David Eickholt of Hawkeye Insider, part of the 247 Sports network. Nick and David did a deep dive on the upcoming Iowa-Iowa State game, at Kinnick Stadium. The two reporters hit on a vast number of topics, including: why Iowa has dominated the series in terms of wins and losses as of late, how injuries could shape some of the top matchups in this one, off-the-radar stars, and of course, keys to the game for each team to win. To wrap up the show, Nick and David also gave their predictions for what is shaping up to be a terrific game on Saturday. Currently, the line for the game sits at around 3.5 points, with Iowa favored at home. Today on the Logan Blackman Show we celebrate August as the month of football, as we are a few days away from the first NFL (pre-season) game of the season as well as being just 27 days away from the start of the college football season. We start off going over how pre-season works in the NFL, and why it is not really a sign of things to come before the upcoming season. We also discuss the importance of college football in states without NFL teams, and why college football in the great state of Iowa comes second to nothing in the sports world. With that, we take an early preview of the 'Big Three' schools in the state, UNI, Iowa State, and Iowa, looking at each roster and what to expect from each team going into the season. Finally, we make a tier list consisting of all the power five teams in college football, and rank them given how we feel they are going to do this upcoming season. Enjoy the show!

We're glad to welcome back Joseph Duarte, who's @Joseph_Duarte on Twitter: He's spent 25 years on several sports beats at the Houston Chronicle and he joins Brice Cherry and John Werner to talk college football: Baylor opened the year with a fairly pedestrian 29-20 win over Texas State on Saturday. What did we see that was encouraging for the 2021 Bears, and what areas of concern jumped out? Instead of previewing Texas Southern, which should be a layup, let's talk with Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle about the topic on the minds of all college football fans: conference realignment and expansion. The Big 12 is reportedly in the midst of extending invitations to Houston, BYU, Cincinnati and UCF. Does this lock down the Big 12's long-term stability? And what do each of these new programs bring? Of course, Houston has tried to hook up with the Big 12 before, including in 2016. We've also some rumblings that Baylor was at least initially against adding UH this time around, but either acquiesced or was outvoted. Will there be a bit of bad blood between the Cougars and Bears once Houston makes the move? The big game in the Big 12 this week also shapes up as one of the most attractive games in the country: Both Iowa State and Iowa will be ranked in the Top 10 when they play, with College GameDay coming to Ames. How do we see the game coming out, and will the Cyclones be in the CFP discussion at the end of the year? Finally, we always like to close with “Culinary Corner” — Joseph gives us some prime intel on good eats in the AAC cities of Cincinnati and Orlando.
