When we reach the point of the season where we refer to weeks by names and not numbers, that's when things are getting good. And with that, it's Wivalwy Week. Carla and Crappy both got to watch a ton of feetball last weekend; Carla was impressed with Washington holding off a late charge by Oregon State in a heavy rainstorm, and Crappy was happy that Luke Fickell won the Wisconsin-Nebraska eligibowl (thank you, Sickos Committee). Cornell had a rough outing in the Empire State Bowl, the Big Red Bears' annual rivalry game against Cornell, losing 29-14 (UPDATE: The school fired 11-year head coach David Archer the day after the loss). Drew Powell, Cornell's starting running back and Crappy's nephew, didn't have a great day on the ground, but racked up a whole bunch yards in the air to wind up his college career. After AJ delivers his G5AD manifesto, Carla and Crappy turn their attention to a mess of rivalry games, some of which you should definitely watch, and some of which — the Iron Bowl, the Egg Bowl, the Heroes Trophy game and the Land Grant Trophy game — you should also definitely watch because things get weird when you're playing for ugly trophies. And then, the games: No. 11 Oregon State at No. 6 Oregon (8:30 ET Friday, FOX) Oregon State almost managed to beat Washington at home last week, but the Civil War seems like an even heavier lift for the Beavers. And take note, Oregons: Do what Washington State and Washington did this week and extend your rivalry past the demise of the Pac-12. It's the right thing to do. Washington State at No. 5 Washington (4 ET, FOX) Wazzu was legitimately dangerous at the outset of the season, but since then, it's the Huskies that have been playing like they're the team on a mission. And this week, the mission is winning the Apple Cup. No. 4 Florida State at Florida (7 ET, ESPN) This is suddenly is a very different Florida State team without Jordan Travis. Tate Rodemaker is the Noles' new starter, and he's been the backup for the past four seasons. Florida, likewise, will likely start its backup QB after Graham Mertz suffered a collarbone injury. That backup is redshirt freshman Max Brown. And yes, we have no idea. No. 2 Ohio State at No. 3 Michigan (The Biggest Nude, FOX) Crappy's referring to this as the Karma Bowl — and it's coming for you, Jim Harbaugh — but we all know that this year's version of the The Game will be the toughest, and most intense, in years. Carla wishes our Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders a successful completion to their season, and you already know what Crappy's only possible final thought is. Settle in for three days of wivalwy games, boys and girls, and we'll see you back here for Champinship Week. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

The Daily Tap for Friday recaps the disappointing Packers game as Green Bay falls apart against the Tennessee Titans. A truly bad loss for the Packers as they fail to show up in this one and get outworked by the Titans. Charlie goes over the game before having questions for the bar and Golden Kegs. On today's episode of Bucky's 5th podcast, we've got plenty to get to. To start, we talk about Wisconsin Men's basketball's recent contest with UW-Green Bay. It wasn't pretty, but the Badgers did find a way to win and sometimes that's all you can ask for. After that, we talk about the recruiting issues for Wisconsin football as the Badgers lost two commits in a matter of two hours this week. In the latter portion of the show, we get into the Wisconsin/Nebraska game itself. To start, we talk about how the offense will look to attack against a weak Nebraska run defense. After that, we discuss how the defense will fare against Casey Thompson and this offense. To finish the show we are joined by Jon Johnston of Corn Nation to get an insider's look at Nebraska. We discuss who will be the next Head Coach, how the team has looked of late, and much, much more! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

In this weeks episode, Zayne, Drew and Chris break down the Indiana WIN!! What is the difference between the first 3 games (Skip OU for obvious reasons) and this last game with Indiana? How has Mickey already differentiated himself from the former head coach, Scott Frost. How does Wisconsin firing Paul Chryst affect Nebraska and our search for a new HC? Why are we even looking for a new HC when the obvious #1 candidate is already coaching in Lincoln?

Paul Chryst is the latest coach relieved of his duties. The former Wisconsin coach's departure came as a surprise, especially with the Badgers' financial commitment him. With open positions at Wisconsin and Nebraska, which job is more appealing? And which one would be the better fit for top-performing Kansas coach Lance Leipold? All preseason hope that this week's matchup against Alabama would be the best of the season have gone. Is it time for Texas A&M to part ways with Fisher? Wisconsin-Nebraska Cancelled as COVID Hits the Badgers and More - Wednesday Hour 1
We hear from you about the cancelation of the Wisconsin/Nebraska game on Saturday and more!
The Andy Staples Show & Friends: A show about college football
News blew in on a strong gust Tuesday, as the Wisconsin announced starting QB, Graham Mertz, tested positive for Covid-19, in addition, doubt loomed over UW"s conference clash with Nebraska on Saturday. Andy enlists the service of The Athletic's University of Wisconsin penman, Jesse Temple, to analyze the maelstrom of info (:30). What is the Big Ten's protocol for players who have contracted Covid? How long will Mertz be sidelined? What other options do the Badgers have at QB, and what will the Big Ten do about Wisconsin-Nebraska? With a well timed transitionary sound effect ("well timed" is debatable), Andy is now chatting with The Athletic's LSU scribe and University of Indiana alumnus, Brody Miller, who, for few minutes, is reveling in Indiana's spectacular win over Penn State (7:00). Just how good is former Tennessee commit, Penix Jr. (10:30)?! Now that there are expectations Indiana has to live up to, is Brody worried the team will crumble? From UI to LSU, just how impressive was last week's offensive showcase, and what lead to TJ Finley and the offense's success (15:45)? How beneficial is it to have to competent QBs (18:30)? The guys preview the Tigers' upcoming date with Auburn and examine the former's defensive miscues (19:30). What matchups could play in either team's favor (22:30)? Is it too late in the season to consider South Carolina as the inflection point in LSU's season (26:30), and can we safely assess who/what this Auburn team is (29:00)? The podcast kicks off with the breaking news of Wisconsin-Nebraska being canceled because of an outbreak amongst the Badgers. Heather Dinich hops on the pod with Negandhi to talk about the cancelation and if Oklahoma State has the makings of a championship team. Then, Pollack and Negandhi discuss Pollack staying up late to watch Rutgers tape, not being overly impressed with Ohio State, what they’re watching for in Oklahoma State-Texas, Trevor Lawrence leaving the door open to stay for another season and their Week 9 picks (9:35).
On the final hour of The Nick Handley Show, we talk more about the Wisconsin-Nebraska game being cancelled and one caller thinks it's on purpose. Next, we talk with former Husker Jay Moore on more Husker football. Then Nick answers a question from a caller on if a coach has to be away for 21 days like a player before we close out the show with What's on Tap.

It's a whole bunch of football on this week's show! For a solid 16-17 minutes, Acme Packing Company's Tex Western dissects the ins and outs of the Green Bay Packers' next game against the Dallas Cowboys. At about the 17-18 minute mark, safety D'Cota Dixon breaks down Nebraska's offense and describes being a leader on the team. Around the 25 minute mark, The Lincoln Journal Star's (and former B5Q writer) Parker Gabriel breaks down the Nebraska Cornhuskers after their rough start and gives his predictions for Saturday night's game. At the 45 minute mark, outside linebacker Leon Jacobs talks about his pass rushing skills and what he sees from Tanner Lee and the Nebraska offense.
Week 9's games: pretty okay! There's an interesting Virginia Tech-Pitt clash on Thursday, a number of noon games you can watch instead of Kentucky-Mizzou on Saturday, a Baylor-Texas matchup that surely won't turn into a bunch of yelling and accusation hurling, one of Washington's last regular season chances to do something people will pay attention to, a Wisconsin-Nebraska game that one team will leave still undefeated, and Clemson-Florida State. Some of these games we talk about with analysis and thought! Many of them we do not and it's the same old bullshit and dumb jokes! One nice-ish thing is said about Notre Dame! Sort of! Papa John is discussed aaaaaagain! And we check in on Jason's bet with Steven Godfrey on whether or not Kansas can win 3 games. (Spoiler: maybe, but you'll need to wait a little.)
With the Badgers sitting at 0-1 in conference, Rich and Max examine the showdown in Lincoln Saturday with Nebraska. They discuss which is worse: Nebraska's pass defense or Wisconsin's pass offense, whether or not Nebraska will run the ball, and if this is truly a "must win" game for the Badgers if they still want to win the west. They close the show with a discussion of what a poor performance from Joel Stave could or should mean for his future and where the team goes from there. SHOW NOTES: 1:30 Who's a bigger mess? Wisconsin? Nebraska? 4:30 Where are the Badgers weakest on offense right now? 5:30 How should Nebraska attack the Badger D? 6:15 What should we think about the Husker running game? 9:00 This IS an elimination game... Right? 12:45 Max is one of THOSE guys. The kind that gets married during football season. 13:15 Who will step up? 14:30 REALLY bad injury luck 17:00 It's time to adjust expectations 20:30 Fourth down watch 25:30 Could this devolve into a mess? 30:45 If it does, do they change the QB? 40:15 Surveying the landscape of the B1G 43:45 Prediction time 46:30 Who do you want to see perform well? 49:00 Only one show next week
What kind of statement can the Wisconsin Badgers make with a victory Saturday against the Nebraska Huskers? Can Melvin Gordon continue rolling over defenses and stay in contention for the Heisman Trophy? Can Joel Stave and Tanner McEvoy, along with the Badgers' wide receivers, help keep the Huskers' defense honest to allow the Badgers to run wild? We'll also recap several former Badgers' big days in the NFL. Chris Borland has 35 tackles in two games, and J.J. Watt's on TWO magazine covers this week! Plus, we'll recap the Green Bay Packers' big victory over the Chicago Bears -- can they keep it up against former Badgers Chris Maragos, Beau Allen and the 7-2 Philadelphia Eagles?
Adam Burke and BangTheBook.com Expert Handicapper Kyle Hunter will go in depth on seven of the smaller conference tournaments on today's special hour-long show. They'll cover the Ohio Valley, Metro Atlantic Athletic, Colonial Athletic Association, Missouri Valley, West Coast, Southern, and Summit League conference tournaments with in-depth analysis on under-the-radar teams and leans for tournament futures. They'll also discuss Duke-UNC, Pitt-Clemson, and Wisconsin-Nebraska from the major conferences. This is a can't miss show!
