Marc Carig (Newsday) and Rich MacLeod (MLB.com, BP Mets) joined us for a twofer on a very special Ghoul Fundies. After Roger was wished a Happy Scareadays season from a very old ghoul (01:40), Brian and Roger talked about new Mets manager Mickey Callaway (08:30), and the details of the not so smooth purchase of the Triple-A Syracuse franchise you probably don't know about (13:00). Then Marc Carig joined the Good Fundies boys and discussed the latest news on Asdrubal Cabrera and Jerry Blevins' options (34:15), what it was like to walk into the Mets clubhouse the day after his now famous piece on Terry Collins (38:45), Mickey Callaway(46:42), how TC handled his players (52:20), why the team released Nori Aoki (56:30), not writing about this year's World Series(57:35), how he would have approached writing about the crazy Game 5 (59:25), his Series prediction (01:02:50), if the balls are juiced or not (01:08:00), and how he's celebrating Halloween (01:11:40). Then Rich MacLeod stepped up to the plate. After Roger kept asking him what the MLB replay hub is really like (01:16:00), he talked about having to edit videos of the Mets stinking (01:17:00), why he still bothers with #MetsTwitter (01:23:00), how late MLB employees work during the postseason (01:26:00), what Ryan Church told him about his concussion and missing third base(01:27:30), Church's reaction to Ray Ramirez's dismissal (01:32:00), and of course his World Series prediction (01:37:45). In the mailbag, the boys were asked if the Mets should go trade for Dee Gordon (01:46:30), if Brian would rather live alone with Jay Bruce on a deserted island instead of TC or Rafael Montero (01:49:40), and if RA Dickey should return to Flushing (01:51:15). Brian returned to tell Roger what it's like to watch Mets games without social media (07:30) before getting into all of the things Brian didn't get to talk about over the last two weeks: the Binghamton Rumble Ponies making the playoffs (14:25), Robert Gsellman conceding apathy (16:10), Jay Bruce joining Twitter (18:12), Michael Conforto's injury (20:27), Brian's long desired Nori Aoki finally becoming a Met and if he would have been a better signing than Michael Cuddyer (25:50), Yoenis Cespedes' injury (29:10), Brian's conspiracy theory on David Wright's latest setback (33:45), Wilmer Flores breaking his own nose on his own foul ball (45:50), Rafael Montero continuing to not be awful (49:50), Kevin Plawecki showing his promise (53:30), Matt Harvey's predictably controversial return to the majors (57:28), Noah Syndergaard's rehab (01:10:25), Juan Lagares proving he should be the 2018 starting center fielder (01:12:50), the good news and bad news about Brandon Nimmo (01:16:00),

The Stokke On Podcast returns after a too-long hiatus and introduces new co-host Chris Schubert, who is the host of FanRag Sports Radio in Phoenix. The opening take is on the Houston Astros and their relative inactivity around the trade deadline. They acquired starter-now-reliever Francisco Liriano from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Nori Aoki and Teoscar Hernandez. They didn't get a starter pitcher. They didn't get a bigger name in the bullpen. Should they have? The conversation breaks into a bit of a comparison of the Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers in terms of championship windows and where each team stands. Speaking of the Dodgers, they made a big move in acquiring starting pitcher Yu Darvish from the Texas Rangers. What does this mean for Los Angeles moving forward? No, they aren't guaranteed a title. But how do they stack up against the Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals in the National League? Those are the three top dogs in the NL, but are the Arizona Diamondbacks or Colorado Rockies built to challenge them in the postseason? Get ready for the D-backs to be everyone's "surprise" team. In the American League, the New York Yankees traded for Sonny Gray, while everyone else stood pat for the most part. Did the Red Sox make a mistake by not acquiring a starting pitcher or was trading for Addison Reed enough? What about the Cleveland Indians? They acquired Joe Smith, but did they need to make a move to bring in a starting pitcher, such as Darvish? The show wraps up with rapid fire on teams that stood mostly pat, not buying or selling: Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals.

So, the Giants are no longer reigning champs. Big deal. They’ll do it next year, of course. Eric and Chad get together on Skype to discuss how the scrappy Royals made it all the way back to the World Series and how they won it after 8 of their 11 wins secured in comeback fashion, and the parallels drawn to the Giants’ 2012 six elimination game wins against the Reds and Cardinals. The Giants are also banking cash in large piles after declining the options on Nori Aoki and Marlon Byrd. Greinke, Price and Cueto may all be #1 targets of Bobby Evans and his staff, but we also ask if they may spread the money around a bit to a greater quantity of second-tier pitchers and a couple of outfielders. All we know is that this will be an exciting offseason as the Giants attempt to reload with more available cash than they’ve ever had, and during an offseason flush with quality starting pitchers. torturecast.com @torturecast facebook.com/torturecast

After some time off to watch the World Series, we put off recording the first offseason show long enough. Of course, the Royals did not finish their dream run through the playoffs, but it was still a great showing. We talked about the memories, the new fans, and just how special the 2014 season turned out to be, even if Madison Bumgarner ended it.And since the season is over, we looked at the impact of departing free agents, mostly notably Billy Butler (whose option for 2015 was declined by the team), James Shields, and Nori Aoki.Is this the only time we'll see the Royals in the playoffs this generation, or can they keep building on this?
