WE'RE BACK! After taking a break through the month of November, the Super Halo Bros. return refreshed and ready to cover all of the biggest stories, news, signings, and Angel-fan freakouts! We start with our opinions on the positives, including Shohei Ohtani winning MVP and every baseball award known to man, the signing of "Thor", Noah Syndergaard (8:11), star New York Mets reliever Aaron Loup (14:11), trading for former New York Yankees top-ten prospect Tyler Wade (16:21), and Cincinnati Reds pitcher Michael Lorenzen (20:35). Then, Mike and Jon discuss who we DIDN'T get in free agency, with the likes of starting pitchers Max Scherzer, Robbie Ray, John Gray, and Kevin Gausman. (24:10). With Angels General Manager Perry Minasian at the helm, he's taken a lot of heat from Halo fans, so Mike and Jon play a game of "Pissed Off Perry Versus Positive Perry!" (33:57). With the Angels missing out on Scherzer and not spending the $43.5 million he got from the Mets, the brothers share what they might do with that extra cash and who'd they would sign with it. (42:30). We talk about the Mets' strategy of not pursuing any free agents with a QO attached and also discuss all the latest Mets-adjacent rumors—Steven Matz, Javy Báez, Seiya Suzuki, and more. Next, we briefly cover the lengthy profile written about Dave Portnoy in New York Magazine and Trevor Bauer's controversial tweet and encourage you to engage with neither.  Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what's making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin' Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. Today's word of the day is ‘nostalgia' as in we traveled to Austin, Texas and saw The Rolling Stones. It was time to get out of work mode and just live a little. What is wrong with us? (15:30) MLB commissioner Rob Manfred met the media last Thursday and he just can't ever say the right thing. He spoke about a possible lockout. He spoke about housing for minor leaguers. But he the way he spoke did nothing to help calm things down. (22:50) Noah Syndergaard was in a war of words on Twitter with Mike Francesa this weekend. The offseason rumor mill continues to chug along, as the Yankees are still reportedly talking to the camps of both Carlos Correa and Corey Seager. In recent news however, Correa made some harsh comments towards Derek Jeter's defensive career, claiming Jeter did not deserve any of the Gold Glove awards he won. Understandably, many Yankee fans took exception to his quote and started to question whether Correa's villainous persona is something they want on the team. We also find out how desperate teams are during this year's pitching market, with Justin Verlander returning to Houston on a massive 1-year/$25 million gamble from the Astros, and the Angels signing Noah Syndergaard to a 1-year/$21 million dollar deal. Brett Gardner also reportedly wants to play again in 2022, making us seriously doubt that we'll ever get rid of this man from our lives. We also discuss the recent awards season, debating whether or not it was a good thing that Cole was snubbed for AL Cy Young and what it truly means to be an "MVP" of the league. Finally, we thought it'd be appropriate to comment on a certain Twitter "reporter" that got outed for sharing fake Matt Olson trade rumors in hilarious fashion, hopefully he never makes a resurgence. James texted Marc "we have nothing to talk about" on Monday night and then all hell broke loose. Noah Syndergaard is an Angel and we are shocked. Billy Eppler is our GM and we're not thrilled. James doesn't know where Japan is. Luis Rojas is the Yankee's new third base coach and that's funny. JimBob made another stupid comment about analytics and we make fun. The episode gets serious when we break down Marcus Stroman's future in light of recent contracts given to Eduardo Rodríguez and José Berríos. What we think he will get, what he should get, and how he matches up with the remaining free-agent pitchers. It's the best Marcus Stroman break down on the internet, guaranteed. We end the show with our Brett Baty interview from the Arizona Fall League. The audio isn't perfect but Brett is so stay tuned for that! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/metsdup/support

Turns out Thor is more two-faced than Loki as Noah Syndergaard double crossed the Amazin's and skipped town for California. The one time "ace-in-waiting" never fully lived up to anyone's lofty expectations, but we were hopeful for a comeback with the qualifying offer. There were no guarantees that he would take it, but based on his comments and social media posts we thought it was a foregone conclusion. Turns out he wanted to let us down one last time on his way out the door, thus closing the book on the of the Mets' arsenal of aces that we thought would lead us to multiple championships way back in 2015. Instead, like all who have come before him, he parts ways from Flushing with a sour taste in his mouth. The guys break down what Syndergaard meant to the team, his impact on the fans, the larger-than-life persona off the field with little results on it and where the hell we go from here. Make no mistakes about it, this news is shocking. Not because we thought we could rely on him long-term, but because now the Mets have some MASSIVE HOLES to fill in the rotation. Good thing our new GM is on the way? The Mets landed a GM and it ended up being a last resort instead of a first option. The newest general manager of the New York Metropolitans is Billy Eppler. Billy was meant to grab the headlines today and set the fanbase's minds at ease, but instead we're dealing with the Noah fallout. When one fire is put out, the next sparks up. Eppler received a terrible rap while with the Angels and gives fans reason to worry as he was seen as wasting the prime of Trout's career, however, he is a New York guy who rose quickly in the Yankees' ranks before heading west. He's described as a bright young leader who was served a raw deal by the Halos, but whether or not that's true is anyone's guess. Only time will tell on whether Billy Boy is our guy, but one thing's for certain, we gotta believe that he's just a stepping stone to greater things ahead.
