Maurice Christopher Jones-Drew was born March 23rd, 1985, in Oakland, California, to Sidney Gayles and Andrea Drew. Maurice was raised in Antioch, California by his maternal grandparents, Maurice and Christina Jones, and would attend De La Salle High School in Concord. Maurice competed in track and football during high school, playing both linebacker and running back. De La Salle owns the record for the longest winning streak in high school football history, with 151 straight wins, and fortunate for Jones-Drew, his teams were part of that 151 game win streak.

Apparently the recipe to get a hitter going is to just face Sean Newcomb or Steven Matz! For the OMGG player of the night, Frank gives the nod to Asdrubal Cabrera (1:38) who had four hits, including two homers and five RBI! Next up we have Aaron Nola who has been ridiculous over his last two starts. How high is he moving up the ranks? It's also nice to see JD Martinez hit his first homer of the season. ... Onto news and notes and Mike Clevinger is a ding dong (12:02). Apparently he was out partying with Zach Plesac Saturday night so Clev will not make his scheduled start on Tuesday. Also, are we still excited about Spencer Howard if he's being used in a piggyback role? ... We hit some weekend leftovers, including Isiah Kiner Falefa who is a must-add even in one-catcher leagues (19:09). Which one of Alex Verdugo, Anthony Santander, AJ Pollock, and Jacob Jones are we most excited about? Should you drop Matthew Boyd? ... It's a trade target Tuesday and surprise, surprise, Frank likes Eloy Jimenez (33:17). We're also interested in Luis Castillo and Jose Berrios if you're talking about pitchers. Scott and Chris reveal their favorite buy-low targets. ... We finish up with some Monday recap (48:55), including Lance McCullers, Dustin May, Randy Dobnak, and Freddy Peralta. ... Where will the Blue Jays play? Who will close for the Pirates? Will Yasiel Puig suit up in 2020? Will A.J. Puk and Jesus Luzardo ever pitch for the Athletics? Kieboom to Kie-toon with Asdrubal Cabrera. All this and a breakdown of the top FAAB bids in TGFBI this past weekend. There's a lot to cover and half of it won't be true by Saturday. The wackiness of the 60 game season is upon us. Tonight we'll visit the Dallas Keuchel press conference, the great signings of Asdrubal Cabrera and Craig Stammen, Tyson Ross returns west, Jason Castro, the Luis Robert extension, and the mercurial Edwin Jackson.
Hear Sean Doolittle's reaction in real-time as Todd Dybas breaks the news to him that Daniel Hudson will be returning to Washington. Sean gives his immediate thoughts on Hudson's signing and discusses his latest communication with his former teammate & highly prized Free Agent Josh Donaldson. Finally, Tim, Chase, & Todd respond to some of other Nationals recent moves (14:58), including Asdrubal Cabrera & Starlin Castro
The Nationals aren't resting on their laurels. They signed Will Harris (3 years, $24 million), Starlin Castro (2 years, $12 million), and Asdrubal Cabrera (1 year, $2.5 million) over the last couple days. Harris will serve as an anchor for a bullpen that needed improvement. Castro and Cabrera are solid infielders who will be in line for every-day playing time. The Nats still have an offer on the table for Josh Donaldson, but they've created backup plans in case the slugger signs elsewhere. All this (and more) on today's episode.
Welcome back to another episode of Benched with Bubba. On BwB EP 139 Bubba will be joined by DonkeyTeeth of the Ditka, Sausage and Fantasy Sports Podcast as well as Razzball. They will go over recent MLB transactions (Sonny Gray, Cody Allen, Asdrubal Cabrera, A.J. Pollock and more) and then they will take a deep dive into the Fantasy Baseball second base position. As always, thanks for listening to another episode of Benched with Bubba. We'd appreciate it if you could give a rating and review on iTunes or wherever you listen to the show.
To the dismay of some, and the satisfaction of others, the Mets stay relatively quiet at the trade deadline. This of course brings into question the organization's future plans and direction. In the meantime, fans bid farewell to bullpen closer Jeurys Familia, and to one of the team's more endearing players over the last few years, Asdrubal Cabrera. However, a few new names are changing the narrative of late at Citi Field. Austin Jackson is providing the Mets a lift in center field, while Las Vegas call-up Jeff McNeil has many wondering if the Mets have found their second baseman of the future. Also, both David Wright and Jay Bruce are on the comeback trail, while Jacob deGrom continues his bid to win the Cy Young award. And wouldn't you know, here we are in the dog days of summer, and the Mets are suddenly playing up to expectations - too late? A Metsian Podcast will touch em all. Michael Lecolant will host Thursday's evening's Metsian Podcast, and will be joined by MetsMusings.com's Gary McDonald. They'll additionally take some time to discuss the Brooklyn Cyclones, and delve into players who've worn #16 in Mets history. The show starts 8:00pm sharp, EST. Of course, you're always welcome to call and join the discussion @ 646-787-1919. #LGM
The MLB Trade Deadline is tomorrow, but games are still being played in spite of the tough emotional days for players, teams, and front office members. Because it's Monday, we were back on the air with a new version of The Bettor's Box. Host Adam Burke had a lot of baseball betting thoughts and analysis to help you with your MLB picks. He started with the Monday Mailbag, with some important betting questions, and then went into today's MLB content. The Beyond the Box Score segment featured Nationals vs. Marlins, Dodgers vs. Braves, A's vs. Rockies, Rangers vs. Astros, and Brewers vs. Giants. A recap of recent trades including Brad Brach, Asdrubal Cabrera, Cole Hamels, and Mike Moustakas led into the Down the Lines segment. A strong pick on a nice underdog for Monday night sent us into a preview of the week ahead. This is the best baseball betting podcast in the industry and we left no doubt today.
Find out what happens when Asdrubal Cabrera gets the coffee house treatment, and Josh tries to record a podcast during an epic post-game fireworks show. Hilarity ensues. Also, deGrom pitches well and loses yet again; Mickey Callaway comments and Josh previews the series finale.
Asdrubal Cabrera is a now a Phillie. Austin Jackson is now a Met. The seventh Met pitcher of the night in Pittsburgh failed to contain David Frese, who single-handedly beat the Mets 5-4. An exit interview with Cabrera, post-game comments from Mickey Callaway and more bad puns from Josh.
Co-hosts Nick Durst and John Brown discussed:- Was the return in the Jeurys Familia deal enough?- Why didn't Yoenis Cespedes get surgey two months ago?- What can the Mets get for Zack Wheeler?- Where will Asdrubal Cabrera be traded?- Will anyone trade for Devon Mesoraco?Take a listen to the show to find out the answer to these questions and many more!
The regular season is underway and the New York Mets are off to a hot start.Co-hosts Nick Durst and John Brown discuss:Is Jeurys Familia the best closer in MLB? Is it surprising that Asdrubal Cabrera is leading MLB in average? Is Yoenis Cespedes truly in a slump if he is second in the National League in RBIs and on pace for 162 RBIs? Is Michael Conforto actually in a slump even though he has been on base in every game he has played in? How impressive has Paul Sewald been this season out of the bullpen?
