Munaf Manji and Dave Essler talk betting for Tuesday. Cash That Ticket opened Tuesday's show with a full sports slate, from conference tournament college basketball to MLB win totals, NBA matchups and early NFL free agency. Munaf Manji and Dave Essler quickly moved into the NBA, starting with Boston at San Antonio, where both leaned toward the Spurs in what Munaf called a strong measuring stick game. He also preferred the under, pointing to both teams ranking among the league's best in defensive rating and Boston's season long tendency to play at the slowest pace in the NBA. Essler agreed San Antonio's form and motivation made the favorite appealing, especially if Boston were short handed. The second featured game was Minnesota at the Lakers. Essler liked the under and said the Lakers can still bring a strong defensive effort without LeBron James, while also noting Austin Reaves becomes more aggressive in that setup. Munaf took the Timberwolves side, arguing the Lakers had benefitted from a softer stretch and adding that Anthony Edwards looked live for a big scoring night, with his preferred prop range around 29.5 to 30.5 points. From there the show shifted to baseball and continued its season win total series. On Baltimore, both hosts landed on under 85.5 wins. Essler said the lineup should still score, especially with Pete Alonso added to the middle of the order, but he remained unconvinced the Orioles solved their larger pitching problems. Munaf agreed, saying the offense was good enough on paper but the rotation still lacked the frontline reliability needed in a difficult AL East. Detroit brought a different conclusion. Both hosts backed the Tigers over 85.5 wins, largely because of a rotation headed by Tarik Skubal and Framber Valdez. Essler said Detroit may have the best pitching staff in the American League on paper and believed the club could push toward 90 wins or more if it stayed healthy. Munaf echoed that view, pointing to the bullpen, managerial stability under A.J. Hinch and the possibility that either Jack Flaherty or Casey Mize could emerge in a big way behind the front end of the staff. The conversation then turned to a listener question about five players who could hit 30 home runs this season. Essler said the obvious names were easy enough to find and suggested looking for value with less obvious sluggers. Munaf highlighted Kyle Tucker at minus 120 and Jose Ramirez at plus 110, citing lineup context, durability and prior production. Essler later called Hunter Goodman of the Rockies his favorite value play at even money after a 31 homer full season. They also discussed Mike Trout as a high upside but health dependent option. For best bets, Essler went to college basketball and took Detroit plus 4.5 against Wright State, citing momentum, matchup history and possible fatigue on the other side after a high tempo game. Munaf stayed in the NBA and made Suns Bucks over 217.5 his top play, saying the number looked light given Milwaukee's recent defensive issues and the offensive talent expected to be on the floor. The show closed with another reminder about Pregame's current promotion, where ten dollars buys fifty bulk dollars under the site's special discounts section, with the credit available immediately and not expiring. Spring training decisions are starting to take shape for the Detroit Tigers with less than four weeks until Opening Day on March 26. On "Days of Roar," Evan Petzold and Chris Brown break down the Troy Melton injury and six early roster cuts, then dive into the latest on top prospect Kevin McGonigle and his real chances of making the Opening Day roster – including which position player could be on the chopping block to make room for him. We also unpack the Max Clark situation, featuring his comments and A.J. Hinch's comments amid outside criticism about his personality after dropping two fly balls in one inning. Former Tigers player and current Tigers broadcaster Andy Dirks joins the show to discuss his broadcasting journey and his outlook on the 2026 Tigers, headlined by Justin Verlander's return, Riley Greene's adjustment and McGonigle's rapid rise. In this episode, Alanna Ball speaks with Yvonne Hinch about her journey from musculoskeletal physiotherapist to health and safety leader. What began as a desire to help people physically evolved into a broader commitment to improving how work is designed and how people are supported within systems.Their conversation explores the role of human factors and systems thinking in modern safety practice, and why understanding behaviour, context, and organisational culture is just as important as managing hazards. Yvonne shares openly about navigating risk conversations, influencing leadership with both assertiveness and diplomacy, and the courage required to advocate for safer outcomes.Episode highlightsYvonne's transition from physiotherapy into health and safety, driven by a people-focused mindsetWhy human factors and systems thinking are essential to effective risk managementAddressing antisocial behaviour in the workforce through a holistic approachThe importance of professional courage when managing complex risksInfluencing leaders with clarity, confidence, and diplomacyOvercoming imposter syndrome and building confidence over timeLearning from mistakes as part of professional growthThe impact of mentors and support networks in career developmentWhy anyone, regardless of title, can act as a safety leaderFuture capabilities for safety professionals and the need for a systems-based approachThis episode highlights that strong safety leadership is grounded in empathy, courage, and a willingness to look at the whole system, not just the immediate issue. Yvonne's reflections remind us that confidence develops through experience, mistakes are part of growth, and influence is built through understanding people as much as processes. For those working in health and safety, this conversation offers practical insight into leading with clarity, integrity, and a broader perspective. Seth and Sean react to Framber Valdez signing a 3-year deal with the Tigers, reuniting him with former Astros Manager A.J. Hinch.
Pitchers and catchers from the Detroit Tigers report to spring training in eight days, but before the focus shifts to the 2026 season, former general manager Al Avila (responsible for 25 players on the current 40-man roster) joins "Days of Roar" for more than an hour to discuss the Tigers' rebuild, along with other takeaways from his more than 20 years with the Tigers, including the final seven seasons in charge of baseball operations. Topics with Avila include Mike Ilitch vs. Chris Ilitch, the J.D. Martinez and Justin Verlander trades in 2017, who would've been the manager if A.J. Hinch had joined the Chicago White Sox, Carlos Correa and Javier Báez during the 2021-22 offseason and getting fired (then being asked to stay) in August 2022. He also took deep dives into draft pick decisions such as Jackson Jobe over Marcelo Mayer, Jace Jung over Zach Neto and Riley Greene over CJ Abrams, plus the scouting process for No. 1 overall picks Spencer Torkelson and Riley Greene. Aside from the Avila interview, Evan Petzold and Chris Brown discuss Tarik Skubal's upcoming arbitration hearing, the ongoing pursuit of mid-tier starters — and if there's any chance Framber Valdez falls into the Tigers' lap. F1TV expert and six-time IndyCar race winner, James Hinchcliffe, joins Tom Clarkson to preview this weekend's Las Vegas Grand Prix. Lando Norris leads Oscar Piastri at the top of the World Championship by 24 points. With three races and one F1 Sprint to go, there are still 83 up for grabs. So how will Lando and Oscar approach this triple header? Hinch shares his thoughts on the mindset of both McLaren drivers and tells Tom why it's still all to play for despite Lando's advantage. Max Verstappen is now 49 points adrift of Lando but, while his title hopes look slim, will he and Red Bull still be fighting for wins and have a say in the championship outcome? Plus, Ferrari have been on the Vegas podium two years in a row. Could this be the track where they score a first Grand Prix win of the season? F1TV expert and six-time IndyCar race winner James Hinchcliffe joins Tom Clarkson in the Austin paddock to dissect all the action from the United States Grand Prix. Max Verstappen dominated the weekend with victories in the Grand Prix and F1 Sprint to make up more ground on the McLaren drivers. He's now just 40 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri, and only 26 adrift of Lando Norris, with five rounds to go. Having now gone three races without a podium, what's causing Oscar's dip in form? How crucial could Lando's overtake of Charles Leclerc in the latter stages be to the outcome of this title fight? And, if Max and Red Bull's resurgence continues, will McLaren have to favour one of Oscar and Lando to ensure they win a first drivers' championship since 2008? Hinch also shares his thoughts on the ‘repercussions' Lando Norris said he'll face until the end of the season after his collision with Oscar in Singapore. Leclerc secured his and Ferrari's first podium since Belgium, six races ago. Why did his strategy to start on the soft tyres work so well? How did Ferrari turn their performance around after a challenging Friday? And will fourth-placed Lewis Hamilton see this as a missed opportunity to have scored his first podium for the team? Plus, Tom and Hinch discuss Mercedes' announcement that George Russell and Kimi Antonelli will drive for the team in 2026. The guys ponder whether A.J. Hinch's lineup change will have any effect on the series.
We're doing this from 3 continents, 2 hemispheres, and 2 separate days. Hinch tested an F1 Car, there's news about technical alliances, which prompts a larger debate about how they fit into the series as a whole, plus Hazel had a cross-country meet, and we try to talk about soup a little bit.+++Off Track is part of the SiriusXM Sports Podcast Network.
