New Zealand's climate emergency is being slammed as an empty motion.Environmental activist Greta Thunberg has taken aim at our Government. She has shared an opinion piece on Twitter, calling our climate declaration virtue signalling. Greenpeace Programme Director Niamh O'Flynn says Cabinet needs to ban synthetic nitrogen fertiliser. "It produces more emissions then our entire domestic aviation industry, and that's before it's even on the farm."So if our Government invested in a transition to regenerative agriculture, that would be a great step."She says that the climate emergency declaration was a symbolic gesture that would have been fine a decade ago. "The rubber's really hit the road on climate change. It's now or never for action."LISTEN ABOVE

A native of Liverpool, Esteban (aka Ste Hendry) has been DJ’ing for over 30 years. Earning the nickname ‘Snooker-Star DJ’ as a mickey take due to his 7 times World Snooker Champion namesake, Ste is one of the brains behind the newest player on the disco and funk block, ‘Black Light Disco’. The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. The BLD ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. A gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 saw Black Light Disco launch itself with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It proved to be the start of something very special. With 3 events now behind them since the launch in June 2019, Black Light Disco has recently landed a weekly Monday night slot on New York’s biggest House Music FM station, MyHouse Radio FM. Joining Ste in the BLD adventure are Dirty Old Vinyl, Goz (Spin City), the dynamic duo of Pookie Knights and Nick Gartland - all of whom are working hard to take the BLD project to the next level in 2020

Recent open-source hardware tools have made this field accessible to a wider range of researchers, and this presentation will show you how to perform these attacks for equipment costing $200. Attacks against a variety of real systems will be presented: AES-256 bootloaders, internet of things devices, hardware crypto tokens, and more. All of the attacks can be replicated by the attendees, using either their own tools if such equipped (such as oscilloscopes and pulse generators), the open-hardware ChipWhisperer-Lite, or an FPGA board of their own design. The hands-on nature of this talk is designed to introduce you to the field, and give you the confidence to pick up some online tutorials or books and work through them. Even if you've never tried hardware hacking before, the availability of open-source hardware makes it possible to follow published tutorials and learn all about side-channel power analysis and glitching attacks for yourself. Colin O'Flynn has been working with security on embedded systems for several years. He has designed the open-source ChipWhisperer project which won 2nd place in the 2014 Hackaday Prize, and developed an even lower-cost version called the ChipWhisperer-Lite, which was the focus of a Kickstarter in 2015.
