Eleanor Beaton For any small business owner who is actively growing a business, it's no surprise that scaling to and sustaining 7 figures a year is going to take strategy AND soft skills.  I've said hundreds of times before “if it was just about strategy every small business would be making millions.” But you and I both know that is not the case.  It was back in 2013 when I saw the writing on the wall and began to integrate my faith in my work. My faith introduced topics like alignment, surrender, forgiveness and embodiment into my own work and how I engage with my clients. I was clear that traditional business strategies weren't going to position me to defy my own limits and become the first in my family to every generate millions of dollars. In this powerful conversation with Eleanor Beaton, we dive into her own journey of integrating her spirituality and emotional wellbeing in her business growth success.  Through embracing wonder, honoring herself and showing up each day with self-respect while leveraging the power of forgiveness, Eleanor is achieving her goal.  Get ready for Eleanor to share some powerful success clues that will aid your own journey to and beyond the million-dollar mark.   Eleanor's insights, combined with Darnyelle's wisdom, make this a must-listen episode for anyone on the journey to millions who wants to do it with grace, alignment, and a sense of fulfillment. Get your Move to Millions Podcast notebook ready—you'll want to take notes on the lessons packed into this incredible conversation!  Listen in to discover: How wonder connects us to our highest purpose and vision Why building a business with sustainability in mind matters more than hustle The critical role of forgiveness in unblocking abundance What it means to operate from a place of wholeness in business and life How to cultivate self-respect as an entrepreneur and leader   Powerful Quotes from The Episode: "Spending time in nature fosters a sense of closeness to God and a sense of wonder." "It's essential to stand in your majesty and fully embrace your skills, gifts, and experiences to be seen and acknowledged." "Achieving a significant external goal, like building a million-dollar business, can lead to feelings of dissatisfaction and depression." "Clarifying and pursuing one's vision and potential is a way to honor God." "The whole point of forgiveness work is to release yourself from being bound to past mistakes and decisions." "Forgiveness requires humility and acknowledging that someone else had the power to affect you emotionally." "To check alignment with God's perspective, replace 'I am' statements with 'God is.' If it doesn't make sense, it signifies misalignment." "Many achieve financial success once due to burnout and a lack of sustainable practices, emphasizing the need for infrastructure and systems." "Confidence is believing in one's divine creation, and significance means not needing external validation for one's worth." Self-respect is being intentional about your commitments and honoring them." "Forgiveness is for you, not for them. It releases the flow of your funds." When Do You Need a Mentor?   I want to dive deep into a topic that often sparks debate in the business world—the need for a business coach. To shed some light on this subject, I am thrilled to have Eleanor Beaton, an experienced coach and advisor, joining me today. Together, we aim to debunk the myth that every business owner needs a coach. Instead, we will explore when and why someone may need a coach and how to choose the right mentor.   The Value of Coaching Relationships Let's start by addressing the value of coaching relationships. As business owners, we all have different levels of drive and motivation. But that doesn't diminish the power of a coaching relationship. It's true that coaching can be frustrating when clients don't take actions that could improve their sales results. However, we must remember that coaching offers more than just financial rewards. Soft transformations and celebrating wins are equally important aspects of the coaching journey.   Advice for Choosing the Right Coach Finding the right coach starts with understanding your own mindset and willingness to take action. A good coach serves as a thinking partner, inspiring action while requiring self-discipline from you. They can't do the work for you, but they can guide and support you through your challenges. It's essential to establish a strong connection with your coach and ensure they have the necessary expertise and competencies to meet your needs.   Navigating the Selection Process So, how do you go about selecting the right coach for your business? Begin by vetting potential coaches thoroughly. Don't fall for flashy tactics; instead, focus on finding someone who can truly meet your needs. Different coaches specialize in various areas, so it's crucial to match their expertise to your unique requirements. Don't hesitate to ask behavioral-based interview questions to assess their skills and knowledge. Remember, hiring a coach is similar to hiring a team member – it's essential to find the perfect fit.   Choosing a Coach with Experience When it comes to coaching, experience is crucial. Working with someone who has already achieved the level of success you aspire to reach can catapult your growth. Hiring a coach with a proven track record ensures you're learning from someone who has been there and done that. You don't want to waste time and resources on an inexperienced coach who may hinder your business's growth.   Not every business owner needs a coach. But, choosing the right mentor can make all the difference in unlocking your full potential. Remember to assess your readiness for action before tackling a coaching journey. And when selecting a coach, take the time to vet their competencies, match their expertise to your needs, and prioritize experience. Stay tuned for more insightful episodes where we tackle the most pressing topics in the world of business and entrepreneurship.   What's In This Episode Importance of critical disciplines and functions in a business. Finding the right coach for specific business, personalities, and goals. The negative effect of working with an inexperienced coach. Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to identify your pain points in life. This conversation has really stuck with me this entire week through, because let's face it… we as humans are conditioned to avoid pain at whatever cost, right? But then, ironically, we sometimes stay in situations that cause a lot of pain and strife for fear of the unknown on the other side once we take the leap. (That doesn't make any sense at all!) I know, for me, when I make a Bold Ask out into the world, I'm always fully supported. I may not always get what I want, when I want it, but I do know that I'm making forward progress and building incrementally on my confidence and courage. And maybe that's the secret to what Eleanor is talking about here? Now, if you haven't heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you're ready to continue on, let's pick back up here with my conversation with leadership expert Eleanor Beaton as she simplifies how to identify your pain points in life. It's time to simplify… Here's how.  My all-star special guest today is Eleanor Beaton and she's simplifying how to identify your pain points in life. We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including: Why we (as humans) tend to avoid acknowledging our pain points in our career and in our non-work lives How to identify the pain points (and roadblocks) in our life that are holding us back from reaching our full potential by doing a Pain Audit What she means by the phrase “using pain to prune your life” - and how to begin to do it Learn to release these pain points with intentionality in a practical way …and ultimately, she talks about the 3 P's (Power, Presence, and Position) - a simple and profound framework that helps her prune the pain points in her work and in life... and find real freedom. You can do it, I believe in you… it's time to simplify! Q: Are you ready to identify your pain points in life… and do something about it? If yes, this one is for you. But what about the things in your work and life that are causing you pain that you are oblivious to? How do you begin to courageously work through these elements to get unstuck and start to live the life that you actually want? My all-star special guest today is leadership expert Eleanor Beaton and she's simplifying how to identify your pain points in life… and do something about it. She believes that when you take action to acknowledge, understand, and release your pain points one by one, your entire life trajectory changes. Easier said than done? Stay tuned to the end of the interview where I'll give you some actionable insights that I learned from my guest. These insights are also in the show notes. As always, thanks for listening. Now on to my guest for today, Eleanor Beaton, a business coach for women entrepreneurs and former CEO of a communications consulting company.  Eleanor explains how she went from journalist to starting her own business. Both of her businesses were prompted from someone else's suggestions, and in both cases she was skeptical but did it anyway. As she ran her business and sought ideas and support for growing it, she noticed that the coaching and training that existed seemed to mainly speak to men or were too superficial, what she calls "Cosmo-ification." The kinds of discussions male entrepreneurs were having were different from the discussions women were having, and she wondered why, and what women might be missing.  Eleanor saw the issues women founders faced in her communications business, and she decided women needed support and help in ways that most of them were not getting. One observation she makes is that most of the teachings around entrepreneurship have come out of Silicon Valley and tech entrepreneurship. But service-based businesses, of which many women have, aren't being served well by these teachings.  Eleanor's observations, questions and frustrations led her to starting a podcast and developing other resources for women entrepreneurs, which has become Safi Media. She seeks to make a space where women can talk to other women entrepreneurs and learn from each other, breaking out of the "bro" culture of entrepreneurship.  Now, let's get better together. Actionable Insights Eleanor describes how she met suggestions from others with skepticism. However, she tried out starting her own business and hasn't looked back. Sometimes what might be holding us back is our own discomfort and judgments.  There are limits to scaling a service-based business. If you're not sure how to grow your business, it might be time to approach things differently. Get help.  Consider if there's a segment of the market whose needs aren't being met. How can you help that segment? Your vision is revealed to you, step by step, insight by insight and thread by thread. Eleanor Beaton shares her magnetic and clear vision for advancing gender equity by helping women entrepreneurs grow thriving businesses. Her vision guides everything she and her team at Safi Media do. She believes women entrepreneurs are the key to advancing global gender equity and a sustainable, healthy planet. As a woman founder and leader, learning to believe in yourself and your envisioned future is an evolving process. Aligning your ambition with commitment, actions and practice, your vision is revealed to you, step by step, insight by insight and thread by thread. Eleanor believes that creating, nurturing, growing and evolving your business is the epitome of the feminine in action. "Ambition is the tug of my soul inviting me to pursue something so that it can manifest more of who it is." Team Safi's mission to double the number of women entrepreneurs who scale past $1M in revenue by 2030 is palpable. So why a million in revenue? Eleanor explains that less than 2% of women-owned businesses cross the million-dollar mark. When a woman's business reaches this revenue milestone, she can build a team, provide employment for others, leverage her impact and build a legacy. At the heart of Eleanor's commitment to advance women entrepreneurs to scale past a million in revenue is the necessary shift in how we think about think business growth. Growth and generating wealth through sustainability rather than through depletion allow us to have vitality and sustainability without depleting critical resources.  Safi Media helps women scale their businesses by creating a JEWEL business, women growing through assets versus hustle. The JEWEL business model offers us more time to consider, be intentional, and have time for deep thinking and discernment.  Learn more about Eleanor Beaton and Safi Media: Check out the Power & Presence & Position Podcast: Follow and engage with Eleanor on Instagram

In this episode, Eleanor Beaton explains the benefits of decentralizing your business and how to do it successfully, why entrepreneurs need to focus on improving their leadership abilities, and the importance of understanding that you are not your business! About Eleanor Beaton:Eleanor Beaton is the founder and CEO of SafiMedia, an education and coaching company for women entrepreneurs. Eleanor has been recognized nationally and globally for her work as a women's leadership expert, business coach, and writer. Foundational to the work that Eleanor does is her belief that small, women-owned businesses have the power to bridge the gap between economic growth and sustainability.Episode highlights: If you want to grow your business, there will come a time when you will need to learn to let go of total control. At this point, you will need to decentralize and focus on the areas where you can have the greatest impact. To decentralize successfully, you must ensure that you have equipped a team of people to replace you. (04:20) Despite what it might feel like sometimes, you are not your business! When you become too entwined with your organization, you leave no room for your team members to bring their own sense of genius to the table. (12:18) “Economic growth has been linked to a lack of sustainability, and we believe that small (women-owned) businesses are a powerful microcosm to prove that you can have both.” Your small business is making a more significant impact than you think; don't give up on your dreams! (19:58)  As an entrepreneur, you need to be both a visionary and a good leader. Research has shown that only one in 10 managers are well-equipped for their positions. Learn how to be a more effective manager, and you will see a major difference in your business. (22:52) Don't ignore any parts of yourself. The person that you are today is an amalgamation of all the people that you have been along your journey to get here. When you accept yourself wholly as you are, you will enhance your ability to be a great leader. (32:26) Don't create limits for yourself. Set goals that are open and inviting, and you'll be able to achieve so much more. (42:41) Eleanor's best advice for entrepreneurs: “Who we are [as entrepreneurs] is very much embedded with the business itself, and when that is fused so tightly, there's no room for others to truly bring these gifts independently.” (12:30) Mentioned in this Episode:Hiro BogaConnect with Eleanor: LinkedIn Twitter Website Follow Beyond 8 Figures: LinkedIn Twitter Website

Eleanor Beaton is the founder of SafiMedia, an education & coaching company for women entrepreneurs. Through SafiMedia and her podcast Power Presence Position, Eleanor and her team are committed to advancing global gender equity and a model of economic growth that nourishes the planet, one woman-owned business at a time. Eleanor grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada, although she was born in England. Her father was an economics professor at a university in Nova Scotia, and previously, her Mom was a teacher in her native Fiji, where Eleanor's parents originally met. In fact, in those earlier years, Eleanor's mother earned more than her father, owned her own home, and was living very comfortably, fully supporting herself when they began dating. Once they moved to England and had Eleanor, they decided that her mother would stay home and raise her, which she did for eighteen years.  Eleanor's parents had a good relationship, yet her mother regretted not having her own finances to manage. Her message to Eleanor: make your own money. Money is power. Eleanor started her career in PR and advertising, but something was missing. She decided to attend journalism school and, then, started her own communications firm. Eleanor was drawn to content about women's independence and financial equity. She trained in coaching and shifted her business model to support female entrepreneurs in their growth and development. In this week's Work From The Inside Out podcast, learn more about Eleanor's journey: Eleanor's work has been published or quoted in publications including The Globe & Mail, The Atlantic, CBC, Chatelaine, and more. “Money is power,” Eleanor Beaton's mother told her at a very young age. “Always make your own.” Growing up in Nova Scotia with an economist father, Beaton learned all about finances. She began her career in advertising, where she opened her own communications consulting agency before later reinventing herself through business journalism. By her mid-20s she had brought her love of storytelling together with her passion for personal development and founded SafiMedia. An acronym for Self-Actualized Female Innovator, SafiMedia aims to double the number of female founders who scale past $1,000,000 in revenue by 2030. Ten years after creating SafiMedia, tragedy struck when her father passed away from a sudden illness. In this conversation with CoveyClub founder Lesley Jane Seymour, Beaton discusses the dissolution of ambition she experienced at the loss of her father, how her grief became the catalyst for reinvention, and her advice for women who are ready to take the leap into entrepreneurship. My special guest today is Eleanor Beaton and she's simplifying how to identify your pain points in life. At times, it's obvious to identify your pain points in life - those things that cause you stress, strife, or leave you feeling like things are starting to go off course and you're not sure how to get back on track. But what about the things in your work and life that are causing you pain that you are oblivious to? How do you begin to courageously work through these elements to get unstuck and start to live the life that you actually want? My special guest today is leadership expert Eleanor Beaton and she's simplifying how to identify your pain points in life… and do something about it. She believes that when you take action to acknowledge, understand, and release your pain points one by one, your entire life trajectory changes. Easier said than done? Not exactly… step one is listening to this conversation and then doing something about it. Here's how.  My special guest today is Eleanor Beaton and she's simplifying how to identify your pain points in life.
