In this episode of LAWsome, cohosts Tanner Jones and Matt Smyers speak with Miami-Dade Bar executive director Bret Berlin. The Miami-Dade Bar is Florida's largest and most active voluntary bar association. The trio explores Brett's journey to his current role and dives into the hidden value of voluntary bar associations. Brett shares how bar associations can and should be more than just networking hubs—they're vital spaces for community-building, leadership development, and mentorship. He discusses the shift brought on by the pandemic, highlighting the rise of smaller, more targeted events that foster deeper connections. Brett also emphasizes the need for bar associations to step up in filling mentorship and training gaps, especially for newer attorneys navigating a post-COVID landscape. Join Brent Radlinsky in this episode of The Fourteen Twenty Sports Bar Podcast as he dives into the latest NHL playoff drama with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers, both teams missing their chance to dominate, and the pressure is on, especially with Stuart Skinner's goaltending woes. Brent doesn't hold back on the Colorado Rockies either, calling out their dismal start that ties them with the 1988 Baltimore Orioles for the worst in MLB history, questioning the team's management and strategy. But it's not all stats and scores; Brent shares a heartfelt story about his sister's dogs, reflecting on the bonds we share with our pets and the inevitable heartache of losing them. He also takes a passionate stand on the mentality of modern athletes, urging them to embrace adversity and accountability, and wraps up with a nostalgic look at the Toronto Maple Leafs' storied history, urging the team to win for the legends and fans who have waited so long. So, sit back, grab a few beers, and let's get into 'er!
