The Omega Directive (Star Trek: Voyager, S4 E21) was recommended by The Derp Prime, who said: This episode always delighted me as we saw an interesting development of both Seven and the Borg.Plus we get more over all lore on the Federations policies, some fun galactic lore and a threat of clumsy science.Plus, an interesting take on a religious experience though scientific endeavors. As an Apathiest (Gods, do their thing, I do mine, if we don't bother each other everyone is happy), I like little twists to both science and religion. Twists mind, I am tired of sledge hammer statements (I have been hit in the face enough times by those thank to very much!)The Omega Directive first aired on April 15, 1998, written by teleplay by Lisa Klink, story by Jimmy Diggs & Steve J. In this episode of Displaced in Space, Angelina and Sam discuss "The Omega Directive," Season 4, episode 21 of Star Trek: Voyager! This week we are truly baffled by how often Harry Kim is put down by all the other main characters. Also, a Borg, a Maquis, a traitor, and a known gossip walk into a conference room to receive highly classified Starfleet intelligence; no, that's not the setup for a joke. That actually happened in this episode.
Released ahead of time and out of sequence to forecast the upcoming OmegaCon Tabletop Games convention in Geelong. This episode deal with faith and belief, theories and fact. Can we see our Gods? Can the divine be destroyed or unmade? for information about the convention check out https://oddrev.com/uncategorized/omega-con-2nd-4th-july-2023/
Writing "Star Trek" with Lisa Klink, Part 2 Lisa Klink wrote 15 episodes of Star Trek shows on DS9 and VOY and was the executive story editor for "Star Trek: Voyager," along with some other Trek projects. Across the entirety of this two-part interview, Lisa will break down all of her Star Trek scripts and demystify how to write for a television show. This week, we are breaking down the second half of Lisa's VOY credits, including "Favorite Son" and how that script went through significant changes over time, along with what she wished the crew could have done with Harry Kim's character, "Displaced," "Revulsion," "Scientific Method," "Message in a Bottle," the controversial "Retrospect," and "Omega Directive." We learn how Lisa deals with writer's block, writing season-long arcs versus episodic television, the plans for B'Elanna and Tom's relationship, Chakotay and Seven's romance, the evolution of the Borg, what didn't make it to air, and a few other important episodes she contributed to, including "Tuvix," "Threshold," and "The Year of Hell." Lisa also fills us in on some other Trek projects, like writing the "Star Trek Voyager: Retribution" video game and the immersive Star Trek Borg Invasion that was part of the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas. Plus, writing for Gene Roddenberry's "Earth: Final Conflict" and producing "Martial Law," writing action scenes and the plans for the seasons that never happened, being a multiple-day winning contestant on "Jeopardy," stories about Majel Barrett, thoughts on the new Star Trek shows, and the criticism of their writing from a certain segment of the fandom. We are back for another finale as we discuss Star Trek Picard Season 2 Episode 10 Farewell as the band complete their mission in 2024. Star Trek Picard Season 2 Episode 10 Podcast Synopsis Executive Producers: Michael Chabon & Kirsten Beyer & Akiva Goldsman & Alex Kurtzman Episode Written by: Akiva Goldsman and Christopher Monfette Episode Directed By: Michael Weaver With time ticking down to the launch of the Europa Mission, Tallinn interprets the Borg Queen's message to mean that a sacrifice is required to save Renee. Despite Picard's protests, Tallinn uses a holographic disguise to thwart Soong's murder attempt on René. Tallinn is successful but dies in Picard's arms while Renée departs on the Europa mission. Meanwhile Rafi, Seven and Rios take out Soong's back up plan to cancel the Europa Mission using his drones. After his failure, Soong returns home to find that Kore has deleted his digital files of his research, destroying his life's work, but he still retains a physical back-up with the file, labeled "Project Khan". Kore, following an unexpected message about what is next, meets with a Traveler formerly known as Wesley Crusher and is recruited to join the Travelers to Watch and Observe, as she picks a path for herself that will place her in danger. With the Europa Mission safe, Rafi, Rios, and Seven are believed to be stranded in the past, but Q arrives to speak to his friend Picard about the trial. Its purpose was for Picard to accept the past, his fate as the Jean Luc he is so that he can forgive the past and accept the love that is in his life. Q then uses the last of his power to send Picard, Seven, and Raffi back to the Stargazer in their own timeline, where Elnor is alive. Rios decides to stay in the past with Teresa. On the Stargazer, with the self-destruct ticking down, Picard recognizes that this Borg Queen is Agnes, whose collective has detected the disruption in space. Canceling the self-destruct, the Borg and Federation join forces and shields to stop a system-wide destructive event from the tear in space. Succeeding a new trans-warp conduit is revealed, part of a puzzle that is linked to a threat. Borgatti is unsure of what threat is on the other side, and offers to monitor the conduit in return for provisional membership of the Federation. Back on earth, after reuniting with the older Guinan and learning about Rios's life in the 21st century, Picard returns to his chateau and asks Laris for a second chance. Another penultimate episode as we discuss Star Trek Picard Season 2 Episode 9 Hide And Seek in our latest spoiler filled chat podcast. Star Trek Picard Season 2 Episode 9 Podcast Synopsis Executive Producers: Michael Chabon & Kirsten Beyer & Akiva Goldsman & Alex Kurtzman Episode Written by: Matthew Okumura and Christ Derrick Episode Directed By: Michael Weaver The Borg Queen, Soong, and the drones beam to La Sirena while Picard, Tallinn, Raffi, and Seven beam to Chateau Picard and are joined by Rafi, Teresa and Ricardo who have escaped La Sirena. Surrounded by drones the group are pinned down. In the gun fight Rios is injured and is transported along with Teresa, and her son to safety at Tallinn's apartment. Agnes's consciousness blocks the Queen from the ship's systems and stalls her using a fractal lock in the form of an Elnor security hologram. Having split up to get to La Sirena, Seven and Raffi arrive at the ship and try to use the ship against the Queen, but she mortally wounds Seven. Meanwhile back in the chateau Picard and Tallinn escape from Soong and the drones in the tunnels beneath the house. Picard recalls his mother having a mental break while they were playing hide-and-seek in the tunnels when he was a boy, after which she ended her own life. Discussing this with Tallinn helps Picard come to terms with it. But Soong catches up with him and corners them in the conservatory where Piicard's mother killed herself, but Rios beams back and forces him to flee. Back in La Sirena, with Seven bleeding out, Agnes pleads with the Borg Queen to save Seven, to have compassion. Agnes convinces her to build a new more resilient Borg collective through salvation rather than assimilation, to truly become a new Borg Queen. The new Queen heals Seven by adding her to the collective, and then departs in La Sirena for the Delta Quadrant, leaving a message for Picard: there must be two versions of Renée, one who will fly the Europa mission and one who will die How We Discuss Star Trek Picard. A significant step up from last weeks episode as Raffi and Seven track down Jurati. Star Trek Picard Season 2 Episode 8 Podcast Synopsis Executive Producers: Michael Chabon & Kirsten Beyer & Akiva Goldsman & Alex Kurtzman Episode Written by: Cindy Appel and Kirsten Beyer Episode Directed By: Joe Menendez Under arrest Detective Wells tries to make Picard and Guinan confess to being aliens. But with time running out before the launch of the Europa Mission, Picard and Guinan must try to escape from the FBI, but are separated from each other by Wells. As Picard continues to be interviewed by the detective, in another room Guinan's Q call finally takes effect as she is visited by Q who explains that he is dying and that this "trial" is a final attempt to give his own life meaning. Something Q says resonates with Guinan about Detective Wells and she projects her corporeal form to share this message with Picard that “humans are all stuck in the past”. Using Guinan's message Picard probes the reasons for their arrest by Wells who reveals that he encountered aliens when he was a child and thought they wanted to kill him. But Picard explains that these were Vulcans who only tried to erase his memories of their meeting and while he himself is human he is from another time in the distant future. After reporting his lack of success to the FBI, Wells is fired and releases Picard and Guinan back to the world. Meanwhile, Raffi and Seven of Nine come face-to-face with Juratti and the horror of what she's become. After tracking the Borg Queen they discover she is collecting car and phone batteries to modify Jurati's body and make it capable of assimilating other humans. She attacks them, but a glimmer of Agnes is able to force her to stop and leave before she causes Raffi and Seven more harm. Elsewhere after learning about her true nature, Kore leaves her father with help from Q. As Dr Adam Soong wallows in his splintered family and disintegrated reputation he is given a fresh opportunity at “greatness” from the Borg Queen. She persuades Soong that he can save his legacy by helping her steal La Sirena, thereby enabling her to conquer the galaxy. Soong provides her with a squad of mercenaries, but is taken aback as the Borg Queen begins to convert them into Borg drones. How We Discuss Star Trek Picard. The Omega Directive is one of Voyager's best episodes, and there are rumours that Discovery season 3 may feature the Omega molecule! On this episode of The Jane-Way, Liam and Suzanne talk about how Omega could fit into Discovery. Hosts: Liam Smart &am…
This episode of Voyager does not exist, and any assertion to the contrary is a violation of Federation operational security mandates, the accepted interplanetary norms of Star Trek podcasting, and the express wishes of your mother. But let's say, for the sake of argument, that this episode DID exist, would Janeway be able to carry out her mission to save sub-space while convincing the crew that the giant OMEGA symbols plastered on every console screen are nothing to worry about? Would Seven be surprisingly chill about participating in the murder of her own god? Would “The Omega Directive” be GOOD... or would it be GARBAGE?
Good, bad episode.
Covering “The Omega Directive” and “Unforgettable.”
