Since Christianity affirms the humanity of preborn children, and that abortion is the murder of preborn children, why is it still legal in America? A small number of concerned Christians are speaking up, and that includes today's special guest, a former Ohio high school football coach and current online Christian talk show host who was offended by the onslaught of debauchery displayed last month during the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime show. He's working on suing the National Football League for its soft porn show that included a “strip-club” routine.  TODAY'S GUEST - Dave Daubenmire is a former football coach and ordained minister in central Ohio and host of Pass the Salt Ministries’ web show, Coach Dave LIVE. Daubenmire is looking to take on the NFL, Fox and Pepsi in a lawsuit over what he calls a “crotch-grabbing” performance resembling soft porn during family viewing hours. It's the debate that won't go away: should Christians be involved in politics? This just leads to more questions. What do you mean by "involved," and what issues do you say are political? What issues do you say are moral? And what about the so-called separation of church and state?  What about pastors and church leaders? Should they discuss politics and government - and should they do it during church services? (some of you gasp!) After all, like we discussed yesterday with Julaine Appling, someone's morality will be legislated and our government is supposed to be of the people and for the people. Then there's the confusing question of whether someone can follow Jesus and support Donald Trump. Wait, what? But it's hard not to notice the downward spiral of morality in what is often referred to as our post-Christian culture. This doesn't necessarily mean the church is dead and gone, but all polls and surveys pretty much confirm the fact that Christians are not effectively influencing government and society any longer. Dave speaks frequently at conferences and has written Receiving and Giving: Unleashing the Bless Challenge in Your Life and has co-authored, with Sam Gainer, The World Through Our Eyes, a book of photographs and reflections. He and Terri and have been married for 50 years; they have four married children and 7 grandchildren.

Most of us recognize the increase of moral relativism goes hand in hand with the decline of Christianity in America. Repentance and revival are needed today more than anytime in our history! But how much time do we have? Revival starts with you and me - in our hearts. But first of all, if you are not a Christian, you can’t even be revived because you must first be “vived” or made alive in Christ. Context is a safeguard for us, and will prevent us from reading our preferences into the text or 'Americanizing' hand-picked Bible verses. It all comes back to God's Word. I start by discussing (3:30 mark) my experiences on mission trips overseas, including Haiti and Africa. (6:30) Then, we turn to an interview with Pastor Chuck Hasty who has led churches for more than 25 years, now at Grace Presbyterian in Columbus GA. He talks about faith, home life, how he got started running and (9:30) how to live out the mantra "Hallelujah, I've got one more day." Pastor Chuck (11:35) has also climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa at 19,341 feet, and Mt. Fuji, the highest volcano in Japan - discussing those and other adventures like hiking the 100+ mile Camino trek, a spiritual pilgrimage in Portugal. (16:40) Traveling can broaden your horizons, deepen your perspective and appreciation, plus helps us learn from other cultures, he tells us. And as we approach Christmas, (19:35) Pastor Chuck discusses finding comfort and strength from God during a stressful and busy holiday season, with things like the "Luke challenge." We also talk about being present in the moment, (27:22) having active hobbies, finding solitude, being grateful, and how to be spiritually disciplined especially in our prayer life. Finally, Pastor Chuck describes how he started running marathons at age 50 and (36:30) is now running with his daughter.
