The nuclear family is the backbone of a strong society—without it, we will crumble. In this episode, we're talking about Elon Musk's latest love child with Ashley St. Clair and why Conservatives cannot fall into the trap of normalizing single motherhood and reckless men who create broken families. Strong individuals come from strong families. When the family unit collapses, people become weak, directionless, and ultimately easier for the government to exploit. The more broken the home, the more dependent the individual. And guess who loves that? The people in power who want control over your life. So, we are talking biblical gender roles, marriage, family, and why morals will always matter—even if they stop mattering to everyone else. A father's leadership and a mother's nurturing aren't interchangeable, and no amount of modern delusion will change that. Children need both a mother and a father in the home. And no, morals don't change for you once you're rich. Wh*re culture needs to die because the next generation is at stake.--https://policecoffee.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooc599VmOCGa3oE2DnVcJ4uLA69XDoBZf8ChiOpFqVfKc_BASiR
In Episode 401 of Hidden Forces, Demetri Kofinas shares his recent appearance on the Grant Williams podcast in which he and Grant discuss how the interplay of political power, technology, and moral decline in society are driving the unraveling of the social order as we pass through the final stages of what Neil Howe has famously described as “The Fourth Turning.” Demetri and Grant explore how cyclical historical theories apply to today's turbulent geopolitics, emphasizing the rise of populism, shifting alliances, and eroding trust in institutions. Kofinas highlights the role of media in shaping collective narratives and exacerbating societal fault lines, while Williams calls attention to the erosion of personal accountability—an absence that fuels trends in financial nihilism and accelerates the broader moral decline of American life. This decay, they argue, extends to the country's political structures and the integrity of its financial markets. The conversation also touches on the fragility of complex systems, from social structures to global financial frameworks, underscoring the need for intellectual rigor and ethical leadership. Throughout, they urge listeners to stay critical yet open-minded, balancing caution with the desire to seize opportunities that emerge from the transformative changes currently underway. Today on Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, we're discussing Kanye West's latest internet meltdown and what it reveals about the state of our unfortunate over-sexualized and depraved culture. From celebrity chaos to societal decay, it's clear—without God, the world spirals into total confusion and sin. We're breaking down the bigger picture and talking about why it's time to turn away from worldliness/wickedness and the dysfunction of degeneracy and back to the truth and love of Christ. Jesus is the only sane way forward, ladies and gentlemen.--https://www.thebrandsunday.com/products/the-bible-study-copy?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=tbs_thebiblestudy_searchads-nixwdmd&tw_source=google&tw_adid=608801073541&tw_campaign=17672311083&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAC-_2dRN1WU6lhTaWFNApFgzBkVe_&gclid=CjwKCAiAwaG9BhAREiwAdhv6Y_Xc6w4LM7_4otTu1-XgzYjKKwhwbNBCdqLFVTDdXToND7Rt6JU2hBoC3hsQAvD_BwE

This year's election might have been the most contentious in modern memory. It's not just that politics have changed, but it seems that people have too. You've probably heard this phrase: “People aren't as kind as they used to be”. Maybe you've experienced the feeling that people are acting meaner to each other, year after year. But is it true? Are people really less kind than they used to be?With that question in mind, and as we take some time off for the Thanksgiving holiday, we wanted to reshare our episode with psychologist Adam Mastroianni. Mastroianni wondered if people are really becoming less moral in today's world, so he set out to find an answer, and published his findings in the journal Nature, “The Illusion of Moral Decline.” While the title may be a giveaway for his findings, he asks: If people are becoming less moral, why do we all feel the same way—and what can we do to shake this “illusion?”
Jacob welcomes Adam Mastroianni onto the show to discuss his 2023 article in Nature about how it is human nature to assume that the world is always getting worse. How many times have you heard this phrase: “Back in the day, people were nicer” or “People aren't as kind as they used to be?” Most of us have experienced the feeling that people are becoming meaner over time, year after year. But is it true? Are people really less kind than they used to be?That's the question that has bothered psychologist Adam Mastroianni most of his life. Today I am very pleased to tell you: I have good news. Morality is not actually declining in our country or anywhere else. The widespread belief that morality is declining is an illusion. That's the conclusion Adam Mastroianni '14 reached in a study recently published in the journal Nature. With Harvard psychology professor Daniel Gilbert *85, Mastroianni found it just isn't true that people overall are less kind, honest, and respectful than they used to be. So why do we believe it? On the PAWcast, Mastroianni explained the psychological effects behind this phenomenon, and the danger we flirt with when we allow this belief to take hold.
We discuss the moral decline in our respective cultures today in the West. What are the aspects that we are ignoring? What does organized crime cause in our societies? What strategy do illegal drugs play in the matter? Is it a tactic of over all demoralization? Also, we talk about the rampant theft that is on the rise across the trans Atlantic region. What are retailers doing to fight back against this rising epidemic of organized theft? And, would you freeze this winter for extra money? We ask the questions. Filip Bondy describes his four decades as a sportswriter as being “crazy, stupid, frustrating, wonderful and a wild ride.” This episode explains why. Fights between writers. Lou Piniella flipping the bird. The Pine Tar Game's connection to Rush Limbaugh. Billy Martin at his worst. John McEnroe relaying a message for Howard Cosell. Spying on Bernard King. Riding shotgun with Hubie Brown. Travel horror stories. The British press at Wimbledon. An infamous Olympic question. Nancy and Tonya. A mugging near Shea. Oh, and that rental car and . . . a portable toilet. The Associated Press Sports Editors named Bondy one of the top ten sports columnists in America during a career that took him to 48 states, 40 countries, six continents and regular assignments at the Olympics, World Cup and Wimbledon. He also covered the Super Bowl and World Series multiple times, as well as several NBA and Stanley Cup finals. Besides being a columnist, he was a beat writer on local Major League Baseball, NBA and NHL teams for four different newspapers in the New York City market. Bondy spent two stints at the New York Daily News, first from 1983 to '91, and then as a regular columnist from 1993 until 2015. In-between, he worked two years at the New York Times, primarily as an Olympic and hockey writer. His career began in 1973 as a City Hall reporter, theatre critic and basketball writer for the Paterson (N.J.) News. After leaving to earn his M.A. in Communications at the University of Pennsylvania '76, Bondy returned to the Paterson News in 1976 as a sportswriter. Four years later, he joined The Record of Hackensack, N.J., where he covered baseball and basketball until moving to the Daily News for the first time in 1983. Bondy is the author or co-author of eight books: “The Pine Tar Game: The Kansas City Royals, the New York Yankees, and Baseball's Most Absurd and Entertaining Controversy” “Tip-Off: How the 1984 NBA Draft Changed Basketball Forever” “The Selling of the Green: The Financial Rise and Moral Decline of the Boston Celtics” – co-author of Harvey Araton “Who's on Worst?: The Lousiest Players, Biggest Cheaters, Saddest Goats and Other Antiheroes in Baseball History” “Bleeding Pinstripes: A Season with the Bleacher Creatures at Yankee Stadium “Dreams of Gold” – co-author with Wayne Coffey “Chasing the Game: America and the Quest for the World Cup” “The World Cup: Players, Coaches, History and Excitement” You can follow Filip on X: @filipbondy. In the first hour of "Connections with Evan Dawson" on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, we talk with experimental psychologist Adam Mastroianni about the "illusion of moral decline."
From obstruction of justice to indictments and special counsels... it is clear we are in a moral tailspin. How did we get here? And how do we change course? Cliff Smith - writer, lawyer, and national security expert - explains how our moral trajectory began with Bill Clinton and how private morality is a good starting point for turning this country around. I have client after client tell me that the world is going to hell in a handbasket. Leaders gain power by vowing a return to the “Good ‘ol days.” But is your mind playing tricks on you? According to research by Adam Mastroianni and Daniel Gilbert, your brain has tricked you into thinking everything is worse. There's a set of cognitive biases in our brains that cause us to perceive a fall from grace—even when it hasn't happened. These well-established psychological phenomena have us focusing on the negative. So before you empty your portfolio and bury your money in your backyard, listen to this episode of Best in Wealth. Because there is reason to remain hopeful. [bctt tweet="Is more decline an illusion—or reality? Hear my thoughts—and why it matters to investing—in this episode of Best in Wealth! #wealth #retirement #investing #PersonalFinance #FinancialPlanning #RetirementPlanning #WealthManagement" username=""] Outline of This Episode [1:06] How good things used to be [2:09] Is your mind playing tricks on you? [5:53] The types of questions asked in the survey [7:29] Biased exposure and biased memory [13:30] People exempt their own social circles from decline [15:40] How to remain positive despite our biases Is your mind playing tricks on you? Until now, researchers had only theorized why people believe that things have gotten worse. But Adam and Daniel were the first to investigate, test, and explain where that mindset comes from. They've collected thousands of surveys from all races, religions, economic backgrounds, etc. They've found that people believe that everything is worse now compared to 20, 30, 40, or 50 years ago. But people are wrong about the decline of morality. They've been collecting this research for 25 years. When they asked people the current state of morality, people gave almost identical answers over the last 25 years. Every year, people reported a decline in morality. But why does everyone always think things are worse? Is it because they're actually worse? Now I'm not saying that things aren't bad. We're facing a war between Ukraine and Russia. People in the US are divided on every front, politically or otherwise. We are dealing with high inflation. But is it noticeably different than 20, 30, 40, or 50 years ago? These two researchers compiled the evidence. What do they think? [bctt tweet="Is your mind playing tricks on you? Has the world actually gotten worse? Biased exposure happens when people encounter and pay attention to negative information because it dominates the news cycle. All we see are bad things. Negativity is perpetuated in our culture. Secondly, humans have biased memories. The negativity of negative information fades faster than the positivity of positive information. When you get dumped, it hurts in the moment. But as you rationalize, reframe, and distance yourself from the memory, the sting fades. But the memory of meeting my wife for the first time? I can still see her walking into the bar. I'll never forget that. I still feel giddy inside. When you remember your childhood, you likely remember the holidays, the birthdays, summertime, etc. Your world was great. But do you remember getting dumped? Do you remember getting in trouble? When you put these two cognitive mechanisms together, you create the illusion that things are worse off now than they were. In the article, Adam says, “When you're standing in a wasteland—but remember a wonderland—the only...
David and Tamler dive into the Coen brothers' bleak and beautiful adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's 2005 novel "No Country for Old Men." What's the underlying philosophy that animates Anton Chigurh? In this episode the pastors discuss how to respond in a godly way to the growing acceptance and promotion of blatantly sinful behaviors and lifestyles in our surrounding culture.
[Epistemic status: very uncertain about Part II; more convinced about Part III] I. This is the big question in the paper du jour, The Illusion Of Moral Decline, by Mastroianni and Gilbert (from here on: MG). It goes like this: people say that morality is declining. We know this because one million polls have asked people “do you think morality is declining?” and people always answer yes. MG go over these one million polls, do statistics to them, and find that people definitely think that morality is declining. People have thought this since at least 1949, when the first good polls were run - but realistically much longer. This could be (they say) either because morality is actually declining, or because of a bias. They argue that morality is not actually declining. In support, they marshal many polls asking questions like “Do you think most people are honest?” or “Do you think people treat you with respect?” and find that the answers mostly stay the same. Might this be because of definition creep - eg might people define “honest” relative to expectations, and expectations lower as morality declines? In order to rule this out, MG look at various objective questions that they think bear on morality, like “have you been mugged/assaulted recently?” or “have you donated blood in the past year?” They find that all of these have also stayed the same. Therefore, both people's subjective impressions of morality, and more objective proxies for social morality, have stayed the same. Therefore, morality is not actually declining. Therefore there must be a bias. https://astralcodexten.substack.com/p/is-there-an-illusion-of-moral-decline
Jacob and Rob quickly discuss rumors of an imminent U.S.-Iranian deal that could allow 1 million bpd of Iranian crude to hit global markets, before checking on their 2023 forecast and seeing how well their predictions have fared in the first half of the year. From there, they offer a few key thoughts on what to look for in the rest of the year before turning to an important article published in Nature this week called The Illusion of Moral Decline. For the first time in his life, Jacob meets an optimist more unbridled than he.Link to article: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-023-06137-x#Sec4--Timestamps:(00:00) - Intro(02:24) - Iran-U.S. deal?(17:43) – H1 2023 Forecast Recap(33:20) – H2 2023 Forecast(33:52) - Rob's Predictions(37:18) - Jacob's Predictions(43:00) - China, Local Government and Debt(47:45) - Rob the Doomsayer (on China)(51:03) – The illusion of moral decline--CI LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cognitive-investments/CI Website: https://cognitive.investmentsCI Twitter: https://twitter.com/CognitiveInvestJacob LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jacob-l-s-a9337416/Jacob Twitter: https://twitter.com/JacobShapSubscribe to the Newsletter: https://investments.us17.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=156086d89c91a42d264546df7&id=4e31ca1340--Cognitive Investments is an investment advisory firm, founded in 2019 that provides clients with a nuanced array of financial planning, investment advisory and wealth management services. It's Tuesday, April 18th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Nigeria most dangerous place on Earth The most dangerous place on Earth today for Christians is Nigeria in terms of loss of life. The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law recently released a report estimating that, in 2022 alone, over 5,000 Nigerian Christians were killed and over 3,000 were kidnapped. Another 1,000 have been killed in just the last three months. Those carrying out these attacks and kidnappings are believed to be members of radical Islamic terror groups including the Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram, and the Islamic State West Africa Province. The report also holds the Nigerian military responsible for some of the killings. Somalia's drought And Somalia, Africa is in the grip of drought. The United Nations estimates that 48,000 have died of starvation-related causes in the last year. The World Food Program has announced that 1.8 million children under five face acute malnutrition. Plus, Somalia is the second most anti-Christian, persecuting country in the world on Open Doors' World Watch List — second only to North Korea. SNL alumnus, Victoria Jackson, opposes homosexual behavior Former Saturday Night Live comedian and actress Victoria Jackson chimed in for the public comment period in Franklin, Tennessee last week in opposition to a “Homosexual Pride” parade, reports The Christian Post. The public was airing concerns about past violations of the city's Community Decency Policy and state law. Jackson, an outspoken Christian who is persona non grata in the modern acting community, didn't pull any punches. JACKSON: "God hates sodomy. He hates homosexuality. He said it's an abomination. God hates sexual immorality, all kinds — fornication, adultery, etc. “And God hates pride. One of the things He hates most is pride. Proverbs 11:2 -- ‘When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.'” Sadly, Franklin, Tennessee Mayor Ken Moore broke the tie vote of 4-4 to approve of the Homosexual Pride event. Minneapolis approves 5 daily Islam calls to prayer over speakers Minneapolis, Minnesota will be the first major city in America to allow the Islam religion to dominate the city, by broadcasting religious announcements to prayer five times a day for all to hear — from 5:30 am to 10:00 pm, reports The Star Tribune. The City Council unanimously approved this exception to the city's noise ordinance last Thursday. Movies featuring sexual immorality bomb at box office The two biggest money losers at the box office last year were Disney's grooming films for kids: Lightyear and Strange World. Deadline.com reports that Strange World lost a whopping $197.4 million and Lightyear lost another $106 million. Both movies relied on homosexual plot lines. Another Disney-produced film, Amsterdam, lost $108.4 million. A very bad year for Disney. Wrapping up the list of the biggest money losers for 2022 was Babylon — a film celebrating the Revelation 18 depiction of Babylon with its sexual decadence and homosexual perversions. 1 John 2:17 says, “The world passes away with its lusts thereof, but he who does the will of God abides forever.” Bible Society poll: 86% think America in moral decline And finally, an American Bible Society poll found that 86% of U.S. adults believe the nation is in moral decline. The reasons given are various — 26% of this group blame the decline on “lack of positive parental involvement,” 23% attribute the moral decline to “negative influence of media, movies or music,” and another 16% say the problem is “unhealthy reliance on social media for information on current events.” Then, 14% percent blamed the problem on “low level of respect for the Bible as a guide for moral development,” and another 13% of adults say the problem is “negative influence of government leaders.” The American Bible Society also found that Bible use in America has dropped off precipitously in the last three years, from 50% to 39% of U.S. adults. Also, Blacks and Hispanics are more likely to use the Bible than Whites and Asians. Psalm 36:1-3 speaks to the cause of moral decline. “Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated. The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit. He has ceased to act wisely and do good.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Tuesday, April 18th in the year of our Lord 2023.
