Tuve la dicha de entrevistar a RAY TICO, a DOÑA CARMEN GRANADOS, A LENCHO SALAZAR Y EL GRUPO GAVIOTA. Recibimos llamadas del publico de ambos países. Escuchen! RAY TICO, Ramón Jacinto Herrera Limón, Costa Rica; 2 de enero 1928 - 15 de agosto 2007), conocido como Ray Tico, fue un cantante y músico costarricense. Considerado un icono de la música popular costarricense, ha sido el único extranjero que formó parte del movimiento del filin Cubano con el cual el bolero “Habana” alcanzó su máximo esplendor. DOÑA CARMEN GRANADOS, actriz, poetisa, declamadora y creadora de múltiples personajes en la radio nacional. Doña Carmen Granados fue creadora de varios personajes en la radio nacional a los cuales les impregnó la picardía del campesino costarricense, personajes que dramatizaban y que nos hacen recordar la esencia del tico: «Doña Vina», «Rafela», «Prematura», «Doña Chona y Tranquilino», «La Escuela de la Niña Pochita». Doña Carmen Granados fue una mujer entregada a la preservación y exaltación de lo costarricense. Hizo del arte una herramienta útil no sólo para la promoción de los valores nacionales si no para concitar en torno a ella la generosidad y la solidaridad de los costarricenses cuando alguna tragedia enlutó a nuestro país o a los países vecinos. LENCHO SALAZAR (Lorenzo Salazar Morales,Naranjo, Alajuela, Costa Rica, 4 de diciembre 1931) Cantautor músico y folclorista. Inició su carrera musical en 1936 con tan solo 5 años de edad, impulsado por su madre Elisa Morales Corrales. Es actualmente la figura más importante de la canción típica humorística costarricense. GRUPO GAVIOTA El conjunto se integró en junio de 1977 en San José, Costa Rica. Desde entonces han llevado su música a Puerto Rico, México, Panamá, Colombia, Perú, Venezuela y Ecuador, además en toda el área Centroamericana y en los Estados Unidos, en Francia, Alemania y otros países europeos. GAVIOTA ha desarrollado un estilo característico, un sonido propio, una identidad musical. Los arreglos vocales e instrumentales, así como el criterio para escoger su repertorio, les ha dado importantes frutos en su extensa trayectoria artística. Compositores internacionales tales como Armando Manzanero, Álvaro Torres, han colaborado con el grupo Gaviota en varias de sus producciones. Desde su fundación, Gaviota se ha caracterizado por contar con integrantes que aman lo que hacen, que demuestran su respeto y cariño al público y que además, mantienen siempre la filosofía de “hacer lo que nos gusta siempre de la mejor manera”. Actualmente Gaviota cuenta con 7 integrantes, tres de ellos fundadores de la agrupación en el año 1977; Ramiro Guzmán, Carlos Guzmán y Manuel Enrique Guzmán. Los dos cantantes principales son Willie Granados y Doménico Veri (de Italia). En la batería está Carlos Elías Guzmán Mora, hijo de Ramiro y sobrino de Carlos y Manuel Enrique. DA BINGE BOIS ARE GOING SAILING, as this week we return to talk about the follow up from the creators of Dark, Netflix series 1899 alongside our reaction to episode 7 of Chainsaw Man! Da Bois kicked the show off with Chainsaw Man in what might be one of the most gross anime episodes they have ever seen, and 2 out of the 3 loved it! Enrique accepts that Chainsaw Man will be wacky the majority of the time in a way to subvert expectations and Tristan is along for the ride. Eli still isn't sold but enjoys what he sees besides puke. Da Binge Bois are going back to high school as we return to review the super popular Netflix original movie starring Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke called Do Revenge! To start the show off, Da Bois talk about the fifth episode of the newest anime to shake up the world Chainsaw Man, where the sensuality was absolutely off the charts as Denji gets Power and Makima to bestow upon him the honor of themselves. During the talk about Denji and all his lovely chainsaw adventures, Da Bois are still waiting for that plot development to hit within the universe, however are hit with an amazing amount of action in very beautiful sequences as well as a soothing scene of Hayakawa. Speaking of Hayakawa, Enrique's prediction of him being the super serious cool boy was in fact true and extremely satisfying to see his powers revealed! In the main event of the podcast this week, we enter the fantastic world of Summer Time Rendering which takes a hodgepodge of concepts and smashes them together to create a universe filled with mystery. Todo ha despertado en pocos segundos y reina por doquier una atmósfera cálida, bienhechora, estimulante, de disposición alerta y plenitud vital. Pero, minucioso insobornable, puntual, el teniente Pantoja cruza el descampado – vivo aún en el paladar y la lengua el sabor de café con natosa leche de cabra y tostadas con dulce de lúcuma- dosnde está ensayando la banda para el desfile de Fiestas Patrias. Pero, rígido, el teniente Pantoja observa ahora el reparto del desayuno a los soldados…” Pantaleón y la visitadoras. Mario Vargas Llosa. Buenas tardes, amigos, esta tarde voy a hablaros de una novela “Pantaleón y las visitadoras”, del peruano Mario Vargas Llosa, que fue publicada en 1.973. Sin dejar de ser una obra crítica y mordaz, es una historia repleta de humor que pone contrapunto a las últimamente comentadas, trágicas y hasta truculentas en exceso. Sobre el autor: Mario Vargas Llosa cursó estudios de Derecho y Literatura en la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos de Lima, donde también comenzó a mostrarse muy interesado por la política. Poco después empezó a trabajar como periodista, al mismo tiempo que seguía con su obra literaria, pese al rechazo de su padre. Sería a partir de 1.957 que comienza su primera etapa literaria, publicando cuentos y relatos mientras trabaja para varios diarios como reportero. En 1.959 acudió a Madrid con una beca y en 1.960 se instaló en París, ciudad clave en la biografía de Vargas Llosa. En 1.963 publicó la novela que significaría su salto a la actualidad literaria, “La ciudad y los perros”, obra de gran calado autobiográfico y que le valió como el Premio de la Crítica Española y el Biblioteca Breve. Tras este espaldarazo, que le supuso pasar a la primera plana literaria, publicó “La casa verde”, libro que consiguió el aplauso unánime de la crítica internacional. Desde ese momento decidió dedicarse casi por completo a la escritura, con el consiguiente aumento de su producción literaria, publicando obras tan importantes como “Conversación en la catedral” (1.969) o “Pantaleón y las visitadoras” (1.977). Ya en los años 80 habría que destacar una de sus novelas más conocidas “La guarra del fin del mundo”, que iniciaría una nueva etapa en su estilo y que significaría su primera obra histórica. Durante los años 80 y 90 del siglo XX, Vargas Llosa dejó a un lado su carrera literaria para abrazar de nuevo el activismo político, basado en unas posiciones abiertamente liberales, y llegando a presentarse como candidato a presidente de Perú enfrentándose a Alberto Fujimori, quien acabó ganando las elecciones. Dejando atrás ese intento de entras en política decidió instalarse en España donde le fue concedida la doble nacionalidad peruana-española. Tras ese periplo, retomó con intensidad la literatura y de este periodo habría que destacar títulos como “El pez en el agua” (1.993), “La fiesta del chivo” (2000) y “Travesuras de la niña mala” de 2006. Además, su pasión por el Teatro ha quedado patente en uno de sus últimos libros, la versión que Vargas Llosa realiza del “Decamerón” en los “cuentos de la peste”. En cuanto a los premios recibidos a lo largo de su carrera, muy numerosos e importantes, destacamos, además de los mencionados el Cervantes, el Nobel de Literatura, el Principe de Asturias de las Letras y El Planeta, además de incontables “Honoris Causa” de universidades de todo el mundo. Sinopsis: El capitán de Intendencia Pantaleón Pantoja es un joven oficial sin vicio alguno: no fuma, no bebe y no va con mujeres; su hoja de servicios en impoluta y por donde ha pasado ha dejado un buen recuerdo. Hace poco que se ha casado con Pochita, y ambos viven con la señora Leonor, la madre de Pantaleón. Sus superiores lo eligen para una importante misión. El asunto para el que se requiere su servicio es muy delicado; deberá trabajar en el máximo secreto, con la máxima discreción. En la provincia de Iquitos, en la Amazonía, los soldados de las guarniciones viven en malas condiciones; a la dificultad de vivir en plena selva se añade el problema de que no tienen mujeres, y se dedican a perseguir y a violar a las de los poblados de aquella región. Hasta tal punto es grave el asunto que se han levantado muchas protestas contra los soldados y el ejercito. Los generales están muy preocupados y han ideado una solución: se creará un servicio de “visitadoras” para desahogo del ejercito. Y quién mejor para organizarlo y dirigirlo que ese joven discreto, honesto y buen oficial que es el capitán Pantaleón Pantoja.A este no le agrada demasiado la orden de sus superiores; se había presentado ante ellos esperando algún honroso destino, y va a convertirse en una especie de alcahuete del ejercito. ¿qué le dirá a su esposa? ¿y a su madre?. Sus jefes le ordenan que guarde el máximo secreto: no puede decir a nadie lo que va a organizar en Iquitos. Ni siquiera podrá vestir su uniforme de capitán; deberá llevar ropa civil. Será un comerciante que se instala en Iquitos por asuntos de negocios. Pantaleón Pantoja es un excelente oficial, y obedece a sus superiores sin rechistar. En cuanto se trasladan a la nueva ciudad, Pantaleón pone manos a la obra. Para sorpresa de su mujer y su madre, sus hábitos cambian. El capitán empieza a salir por las noches y vuelve a casa a altas horas de la madrugada. Y es que él se toma su trabajo a conciencia. Ya en el primer informe que envía a sus superiores, perfecto en su forma y fondo, hace una minuciosa exposición de como está el ambiente de la prostitución en la ciudad de Iquitos. Deberá reclutar un número de prostitutas, “visitadoras”, proporcional al número de soldados que necesitarán sus servicios. El capitán Pantoja realiza unos cálculos aproximativos, en los que incluye has ta el número de coitos semanales más conveniente para los soldados. Un individuo llamado Porfirio Wong lo pone en contacto con los ambientes de diversión a los que concurren las prostitutas, y a través de este mestizo conoce a Leonor Curinchila, alias Chuchupe, que regenta uno de los locales y que le pone al corriente de tales servicios y de las tarifas que cobran. Poco a poco el capitán Pantoja se va convirtiendo en un especialista en la materia. Del mismo modo que siempre ha cumplido con extrema pulcritud todo lo que se le ha ordenado, también en esta ocasión dedica todos sus esfuerzos al cumplimiento de la orden recibida. El “Servicio de Visitadoras” empieza a tomar forma. Pantaleón ha encontrado un local que han limpiado y ordenado y que incluirá una enfermaría con medicamentos. Sin embargo, su incuestionable acto de servicio se ve empañado por la angustia que le produce la íntima seguridad de que Pochita y la señora Leonor van a enterarse algún día de la verdad. Lo cierto es que dirige una compañía formada por prostitutas uniformadas, y se siente humillado, avergonzado y dolorido cuando la compañía que ha creado desfila ante sus superiores. Debajo de aquellos uniformes de su ejercito están Chupupe, Wong (que lleva el estandarte de alférez) y todas sus pupilas. Tarde o temprano, piensa Pantaleón, su mujer y su madre se enterarán. Y más aún ahora que en los alrededores de Iquitos está el Hermano Francisco, un predicador que anatemiza a todos aquellos que considera pecadores y que ha encandilado a su madre. Ese hombre tiene ya una multitud de seguidores en la Amazonía. El servicio especial del capitán Pantoja se perfecciona de tal manera que dispone de un barco y de un hidroavión para el traslado de las visitadoras a las distintas guarniciones. Su celo ha conseguido un servicio tan extraordinariamente eficaz que la noticia ha corrido por la ciudad de Iquitos y los han bautizado con el nombre de “Pantilandia”. El joven capitán lleva las cuentas al céntimo; el médico pasa una revisión periódica a las prostitutas para prevenir posibles enfermedades; y él sigue tan honesto, serio y entero como siempre. Hasta que aparece “la Brasileña”, una prostituta recién llegada de Brasil, antigua conocida en los ambientes nocturnos de Iquitos , y el pobre Pantoja se siente irremediablemente atraído hacia ella. Mientras tanto, los rumores sobre Pantilandia se van extendiendo por todo el departamento de Loreto. No existe un loretano que ignore que un tal Pantaleón Pantoja dirige el más próspero negocio de prostitución de la región, pero su mujer, que está esperando un hijo, todavía lo ignora, aunque ya ha oído hablar de Pantilandia. Al mismo tiempo, la secta del Hermano Francisco va captando adeptos en toda la selva. A instancias suyas, en una aldea se ha crucificado a un niño y a un anciano para ahuyentar las lluvias , y también a instancias suyas se crucifican animales por toda la Amazonía. Un famoso locutor de Iquitos, el Sinche, se erige entonces en portavoz de la moral y del antisectarismo pseudocristiano. Al no lograr ser participe del negocio de Pantaleón, el Sinche lo divulga a través de un programa de radio dando nombres y apellidos; la mujer de Pantaleón conoce finalmente la verdad, y abandona al marido llevándose consigo a la hija de ambos. Imbuido de su deber militar, Pantaleón aguanta. Se siente sucio y herido; tiene que pasar revista a las visitadoras y le da la sensación de que se han transformado en monstruos enormes que avanzan hacia él. Dejando a un lado sus principios se ha enredado con la Brasileña, y no puede vivir sin ella. Mientras tanto, el Hermano Francisco y sus seguidores, que se cuentas por miles, siguen avanzando por la selva. En pocos meses han crucificado a seis personas; el ejercito, ante estas circunstancias , decide enviar un destacamento para detener y encarcelar al Hermano Francisco. Uno de los generales, Collazos , propone a Pantaleón ampliar el servicio de visitadoras a los suboficiales y oficiales; no le parece justo que la tropa goce de tal privilegio y los oficiales no. El buen Pantaleón se pone manos a la obra. En todas las guarniciones no se habla de otra cosa; el servicio de visitadoras es un asunto prioritario, y los demás quedan en un segundo plano. La desgracia, sin embargo, se cierne sobre el capitán y su organización. Cierto día, cuando las mujeres viajan en el barco que las lleva a una guarnición próxima al rio, son raptadas por un grupo de hombres que abusan de ellas. Cuando los soldados acuden a rescatarlas, la Brasileña muere de un disparo; los secuestradores aprovechan el incidente para clavarla en un árbol y achacar así la culpabilidad a los seguidores del Hermano Francisco. El capitán Pantoja organiza un entierro con honores militares para la Brasileña. Los habitantes Iquitos y los medios de comunicación se escandalizan ante el despliegue militar en honor de una prostituta, y las protestas llegan hasta los superiores de Pantaleón. Todo el país acaba conociendo lo ocurrido. Pero, a nivel oficial, el ejercito nada tiene que ver con el asunto de las visitadoras; según sus comunicados, jamás han sido militarizadas y jamás el ejercito ha encargado a un oficial semejante servicio; se trata de un asunto civil que nada tiene que ver con ellos. El capitán Pantaleón Pantoja se convierte en el único responsable del entierro de la Brasileña; los soldados que escoltan el féretro, vestidos con sus uniformes, no hacían más que cumplir sus ordenes. Y los superiores acusan a Pantoja de haber cubierto de ridículo al ejercito. Negada su existencia, el servicio de visitadoras queda clausurado, y todo el trabajo y los esfuerzos de Pantaleón desaparecen de un plumazo. Sus superiores le aconsejan que presente una dimisión honrosa, pero él se niega en redondo; aunque su hoja se servicios se vea afectada, es un militar y lo seguirá siendo mientras viva, por más que lo destinen como soldado raso al fin del mundo. Y mientras se envía a Pantoja a un lugar perdido en los Andes, el Hermano Francisco muere crucificado a petición propia, antes de caer en manos de las Fuerzas Armadas; encuentran su cadáver casi irreconocible, días después, en estado de putrefacción. Comentario de la obra: Como toda obra en la que el humor, convertido en ironía y mordacidad, es el protagonista, Pantaleón y las visitadoras, de Mario Vargas Llosa, refleja una crítica hacia la actitud de varios sectores de la sociedad que, aunque delimitada en la novela a la Amazonía peruana, puede aplicarse a cualquier otro espacio y tiempo. Por un lado, la irracionalidad e hipocresía de las Fuerzas Armadas, por ejemplo, decididas a solucionar de la forma más práctica posible un problema determinado, pero a la vez manteniéndolo en absoluto secreto, como se ello fuese posible. Por otro, la manipulación de los medios de comunicación, motivados más por intereses personales que por la búsqueda de la verdad; sin dejar de mencionar la posición de la Iglesia, en cabeza del jefe del servicio de capellanes, quién se mueve en contra de Pantoja, más por los celos que le generó el éxito de este y la atención prestada a las visitadoras que por los intereses religiosos. Pero por encima de todo está la crítica al propio ser humano, en cabeza de la mayoría de sus protagonistas, especialmente de Pantaleón Pantoja, con sus contradicciones y dudas, cuyas virtudes aplicadas a una causa perdida de antemano lo llevan de la cúspide al fracaso, influido por las condiciones del medio ambiente que no puede controlar. “Pantaleón y las visitadoras es tal vez la novela más ligera de Mario Vargas Llosa, no solo en extensión sino en cuanto al estilo y sencillez de sus textos. Aunado a una trama que nis atrapa, hace que sea de muy fácil lectura. No obstante, el autor hace gala de un manejo profesional de los recursos literarios. En efecto, la obra está escrita combinando diálogos y narraciones en tercera persona con cartas personales, partes militares y noticias de periódicos, mezclando estilos y tonos, pero cuidando de seguir el argumento con precisión. Además se permite intercalar en determinados diálogos entre dos personajes, por ejemplo, interferencias textuales de otro tiempo, conversaciones paralelas, como ya hiciera en otra novela suya “conversación en la catedral”.
