This week is all about Farming Life in Another World. Which was a recommendation. It was a nice change of pace from last weeks choice it had it's funny moments and time where it was entertaining but overall it was a show that was very middling for us. Where the faults just seemed to drag it down. Very special interview episode today with ADR (English dub) anime director/producer/writer Shannon Reed of Sentai Filmworks. We get into the nuts and bolts of what it means to direct anime and what all goes into the dubbing process, from rewriting to match mouth flaps to pulling the perfect performance out of voice actors and everything in-between. We also talk balancing fun and hard work, Star Wars, Shannon's personal journey into anime, and more. Seirei no Moribito is a classic example of a classic anime that time has unfortunately left behind in wider fandom. This is a story of fighting for what you believe in and protecting what you think is right even if it will likely cost you everything you hold dear. How far would you go for a stranger? And on the production side, I think y'all will find it interesting to learn how this historical fantasy action drama is closely tied to its genre opposite: Ghost in the Shell As well as the animation techniques further refined by Production I.G. that paved the way for their catalog today. Speaking of being left behind... I briefly talk about the absorption Rightstufanime into the Crunchyroll Store, my thoughts on why this is not good for the anime community, and where we might be headed. You can use code "thankyou" for 15% off your entire order before October 10, 2023. Musical tracks featured in this episode: "Shine" - L'Arc En Ciel (vocals by Hyde) "Nahji no Uta" - composed by Kenji Kawai "Omoi Haruka" - composed by Kenji Kawai *minor redaction- I bought Moribito on blu-ray the weekend before this episode went live because Sentai Filmworks had a weekend fire sale

This week on Anime Pulse we got the worst anime of 2022, the first arrest among the Sushi Terrorists, and the best one-liners in anime. Up first Joseph is finally wrapping up his playthrough of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, and Andrew is preparing to visit some family next weekend. Then in the industry news some idiots are ruining it for the rest of us at the Ghibli park, a change of hands for Sentai Filmworks, and a famous voice actress tells otakus to take a shower. And finally in the reviews Joseph sets fire to a farming isekai he grew bored with, and Andrew is hugging his shadow while yelling KEIITO-SAMA!

This episode's guest is Kasi Hollowell! After graduation, she moved to Dallas where she started working with Funimation. In addition to the nearly 75+ audiobooks she's narrated, she can be heard in shows like The Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody (Olivia), Maid Sama (Erika), Trapped in a Dating Sim (Jenna), Gosick (Julie Guile), Kantai Collection (Kisaragi), Afterlost (Rena), and many others. Season 1 - Episode 3/10 Katrina Leonoudakis is a professional translator and localization specialist. In addition to working full-time at SEGA as a project coordinator, she subtitles anime for Funimation and Sentai Filmworks, as well as translates manga for Seven Seas. She has credits on projects like Persona 5 Royal, the Yakuza series, and anime like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou. Her favorite thing in the world is translation theory-- ask her about equivalence! Katrina shares with us her passion for anime translation by talking about the subtitle translation for the anime Odd Taxi, released in the West by Crunchyroll and translated by Mikka Stifler. "Eccentric and blunt, the walrus Hiroshi Odokawa lives a relatively normal life. He drives a taxi for a living, and there he meets several unique individuals: the jobless Taichi Kabasawa who is dead-set on going viral, the mysterious nurse Miho Shirakawa, the struggling comedic duo "Homo Sapiens," and Dobu, a well-known delinquent. But Odokawa's simple way of life is about to be turned upside-down. The case of a missing girl the police have been tracking leads back to him, and now both the yakuza and a duo of corrupt cops are on his tail. Set in a strangely familiar city filled with unusual individuals, Odd Taxi is a bizarre story about a humble taxi driver and the mystery of a lost high schooler." The LAST ANIME REVIEW of the first ever season of the ANIME NOISE PODCAST. This week we breakdown the music from a super gory, very philosophical sci-fi thriller called Parasyte: The Maxim. This ""Netflix original"" is based off the award winning 80's manga Parasyte by Hitoshi Iwaaki. Rumors claim that the main character, Migi, could have been inspired by a real life medical condition called "Alien Hand Syndrome" where the sufferer has a hand that acts on its own without the person's control. Crazy, right? Anyway, although we weren't huge fans of how OST 1 was used in context with the anime, OST 2 kicked ass and we had piles of notes about this score and the spectacularly challenging art of film scoring for anime. It has been such a pleasure reviewing anime with you all for an ENTIRE YEAR! And although this is the last review, FEAR NOT my fellow weebs! We're going out with a bang and starting a brand new tradition... the ANIME NOISE BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!So strap on the cans, enjoy the sci-fi sounds of Parasyte, and tune in next week for the season finale of Anime Noise.YouTube Playlist: AN-31: Parasyte: The MaximInstagram: @animenoisepodcastTikTok: @animenoisepodcastYouTube Channel: AnimeNoiselinktr.ee/animenoiseCheck out our merch on Etsy! This week we dove REAL hard into the gory, Halloween vibes with this very bloody and freaky anime! The OST is nothing short of true horror although we don't think the OP and ED matched what everything else put down.We apologize in advance for the lightning. However, with a little bit of tinkering on Garrett's end, we made it work. It's the least he could do after being so afraid of the lightning. :) Hehe If you haven't seen Another yet, please give this anime some love this October because it is the perfect way to get into the season, as long as you don't mind a lot of bloody, gruesome, brutal deaths. Then come back around and listen to us break down the OST that was filled with rule-breaking goodness and the right kind of vibes to send shivers up your spine. Let us know what you think!YouTube Playlist: AN-30: Another Instagram: @animenoisepodcastTikTok: @animenoisepodcastYouTube Channel: AnimeNoiselinktr.ee/animenoiseCheck out our merch on Etsy! This week we are reviewing High School of the Dead!! An absolutely perfect segue out of our extra ecchi escapades and into the horror filled happenings of Halloween! This series is a roller coaster of ups and downs. From Takashi's tent in his pants constantly getting ruined by zombie attacks to the awesome OP and album of ED's, but a "D" grade soundtrack, AND we got to witness a super kick ass first season, but the story might be forever left unfinished due to Sato, the author of the manga, tragically passing away from heart disease.Although there are rumors of a second season going back into production, we certainly aren't getting our hopes up, but Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets just re-recorded the OP so who knows?Go dim the lights and crank the stereo. It's time to kick off spooky season in style!!YouTube Playlist: AN-28: High School of the DeadInstagram: @animenoisepodcastTikTok: @animenoisepodcastYouTube Channel: AnimeNoiselinktr.ee/animenoiseCheck out our merch on Etsy! A surprisingly entertaining anime with A BOMB of an OP, a great ED, and kind of a lack-luster OST. It honestly had a few awesome pieces, but most of it sounded pretty generic, monotonous and honestly they really over used the bandoneon. Either way, you should definitely watch the anime even though there probably won't be a season 2.Just a heads up, we do spoil the manga ending at the end of the episode, but there is plenty of warning if you plan on reading it and want the surprise.Oh yeah, here's a little message for Jorge: I told you, our mics are so good they can pick up a fly fart. Science Ninja Team Gatchaman is a Japanese animated franchise about a five-member superhero team created by Tatsuo Yoshida and produced by Tatsunoko Productions. The original anime series, which debuted in 1972, was eponymously entitled Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman and is best known in the English-speaking world as the adaptation entitled Battle of the Planets (1978). The series had additional English adaptations with G-Force: Guardians of Space (1986) and ADV Films' uncut 2005 release. Tatsunoko also uses the official translation Science Commando Gatchaman in related products and media. The original Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman series was followed by an animated film and two direct sequel series, Gatchaman II (1978) and Gatchaman Fighter (1979). Gatchaman is a three-part original video animation (OVA) based on the popular 1970s anime Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. It was released in Japan and the United States during the mid-1990s. This version of Gatchaman is set in the year 2066 where the evil leader of the nation of Hontwall is threatening to take over the planet. Scientists from the International Science Organization are disappearing and only five teenage heroes, the Science Ninja team, can stop the disaster. The OVAs were licensed by Urban Vision through Harmony Gold USA and were released on VHS and DVD. At Anime Boston 2013, Sentai Filmworks had announced that they have rescued the OVA series along with the original 1970s series for a DVD re-release in October. The series was made available for streaming through Crunchyroll.
