Chris White continues his multi-part study on the timing of the events during the 70th week of Daniel. This next-to-last installment in Chris' series focuses on three events surrounding the Rapture:“The Celestial Disturbance”“The Rapture”“The Day of the Lord”This special 2-hour presentation is from the audio portion of the film produced by Chris titled, “Seven Pretrib Problems and the Prewrath Rapture“.If you would like to purchase a DVD copy of the presentation, along with other Prewrath study materials, you can do so by clicking here and ordering from Eschatos Ministries.
Chris White continues his multi-part study on the timing of the events during the 70th week. This episode focuses on three points on Daniel's 70th week timeline: the Abomination of Desolation, Antichrist Worship and the Great Tribulation. Beyond the timing of the events themselves, Chris offers an interpreation of what's happening at and with those events. This is a highly informative installment that clearly synthesizes Old Testament prophecy with Christ's teaching, and reinforces the premillenial & prewrath view.
Chris White continues his multi-part study on the timing of the events during the 70th week. This episode focuses on “palatial tents”, a term found in Daniel 11:45. Chris reiterates that the chapter break between Daniel chapters 11 and 12 are confusing, and interrupt the narrative explaining the flow of how Antichrist appears to be victiorious in his success to rule the Middle East, and how he comes to his end in a manner congruent to a “psuedo death and ressurrection” of the Antichrist mentioned six times in the Book of Revelation. Chris also focuses on the wording of “at that time” found in Daniel 12:1 and Revelation 12, and role of the Archangel Michael. Listen to this compelling explanation of a core element of the Pre Wrath Rapture positon, concerning the Antichrist and the Archangel Michael as the Restrainer of 2 Thessalonians 2, and the relationship of Daniel and Revelation.

If you ever had questions about the pre-trib rapture and they didn't seem to match up with what your Bible said, this is the show for you! So listen deep and show yourselves approved. Lets line up our theology behind the word of God and NOT behind creeds or church statements.
In this episode, Caleb is joined by Daniel Hummel (PhD, University of Wisconsin-Madison) director of The Lumen Center and a research fellow in the History Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to discuss the history of dispensationalism. Together they discuss the origins of this theological system and its key players from its inception to today as well as dispensationalism's impact on American culture, the church, and Christian higher education over the past century. Dr. Alan Kurschner explained why pretribulation teachers are not consistent with Jesus's Great Commission: “teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt 28:20). He worked through Jim McClarty's article critiquing prewrath, responding to his arguments point by point. Dr. Kurschner exposed a deep flaw in McClarty's method of biblical interpretation, where he disconnects the teaching of Jesus from the remaining part of the New Testament, exposing a multitude of inconsistencies and contradictions in his pretrib/classical dispensational system. He makes the odd statement that Jesus cannot give "church teaching" unless the church exists at the time of Jesus's teaching. In other words, Jesus cannot prophesy about the church during Jesus' earthly ministry! This results in the flawed conclusion that Jesus cannot prepare his disciples to be the founding members of the church. Dr. Kurschner demonstrated the absurdity and errors in his interpretation by explaining the context of the Olivet Discourse and citing Old Testament teaching and Jesus's teaching that McClarty would acknowledge is in fact church teaching—hence, illustrating his inconsistent pretrib theological system. The Olivet Discourse is a teaching for the church, and the church better wake up to that fact—soon. Dr. Alan Kurschner talked about the apostle Paul's teaching of the temporal relationship between the rapture and the beginning of the day of the Lord's wrath and its implications. Prewrath eschatology teaches that the rapture and the onset of the day of the Lord's wrath will happen back-to-back on the very same day. The day Christ returns, arriving on the clouds to resurrect and rapture his people, will be the very same day that his eschatological judgments begin to unleash on the world for an undetermined length of time. To be sure, the day of the Lord will not all happen in a single day, only its inception occurs on the day the rapture happens. God's purpose is to deliver his people and then initiate his wrath on the same day. This same-day, two-fold event contains significant implications for the pretribulational notion of “imminence,” the belief that Jesus can return at “any moment.” Since Scripture teaches that prophesied events will happen before the day of the Lord—the celestial disturbance (Joel 2:30–31), Elijah's coming (Mal 4:5), the apostasy and revelation of the Antichrist (2 Thess 2:1–4)—then by necessity they will take place before the rapture. Consequently, the pretribulational teaching of imminence is rendered invalid. The majority of pretribulationists believe the day the rapture happens will be the same day, or the next day, the day of the Lord's wrath begins (albeit, they wrongly place it as the beginning of the seven-year period). So, this biblical reality of events happening before the day of the Lord becomes problematic for their theological system. Some pretribulational teachers, accordingly, recognize this salient implication that contradicts their eschatological theological system. But rather than move away from their position and embrace the prewrath interpretation, they feel the need to continue to defend pretribulationism. Their attempt to resolve this problem, then, is to posit a “gap” of time—days, weeks, or months—between the rapture and the day of the Lord's wrath. This schema then allows for the prophesied events mentioned above to occur during this “gap” before the day of the Lord but after the rapture. Thus, the pretribulationist aims to “protect” their teaching of imminence by using this interval argument. We would expect the apostle Paul to be consistent with Jesus on this point, since Paul draws so much of his eschatology from Jesus' teaching. And sure enough, we shall see that Paul also taught the same day that Jesus returns in the clouds the righteous will be delivered and the punishment for the wicked will begin. We ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith flourishes more and more and the love of each one of you all for one another is ever greater. As a result we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and afflictions you are enduring. This is evidence of God's righteous judgment, to make you worthy of the kingdom of God, for which in fact you are suffering. For it is right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to you who are being afflicted to give rest together with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels. With flaming fire he will mete out punishment on those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will undergo the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his strength, when he comes to be glorified among his saints and admired on that day among all who have believed—and you did in fact believe our testimony. (2 Thess 1:3–10 emphasis mine) In 2 Thessalonians 1:7, Paul instructs that the church will experience affliction right up to the initial day of the revelation of Christ: and to you who are being afflicted to give rest together with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels.

He explained Jesus's teaching on this point as well as responded to a key pretribulation argument for the gap interpretation.

Ron Wallace compares the Old Testament timeline from Daniel chapter 9 with the time line taught by Jesus. Through that comparison, Ron shows what must transpire on the stage of human history before the 70th week of Daniel can begin. And, from a PreWrath perspective, that means what likewise must transpire before the return of Jesus.
Charles Cooper continues his study of the structure of the Book of Revelation in preparation for his presentation regarding the placement of the rapture according to the PreWrath rapture view. This second half of the prophetic sequence is a preview and explanation of why the devastating wrath of God in the form of bowl judgments is necessary. Following God's wrath, the Kingdom of the Lamb and the eternal dwelling of God on earth is presented.
Charles Cooper continues his study of the timing of the rapture in the Book of Revelation. He argues that the location of the rapture in the Book of Revelation is notoriously difficult due to the absence of an explicit reference. Another complicating factor is the inability of scholars to agree on the structure of the book. One cannot place the rapture in the book if he or she does not understand the structure. Before we look at the PreWrath timing of the ethereal reunion of the saints with her Lord, we will examine the structure of the Revelation. Chapter 1 through chapter 11:15 is the first prophetic half of the book based on our understanding of Revelation 10.
In this episode I talk about what is in the title, obviously.

Dr. Alan Kurschner described the prewrath position by outlining 15 essential tenets that someone must affirm in order to hold to a prewrath position. They are core necessary beliefs. If someone denies any of these definitional points they cannot be said to be prewrath in a meaningful sense of the term. In this session, Charles Cooper concludes his defense for rejecting the dominant views on the timing of the rapture. He delineates why he is convinced that the synthetic view of the timing of the rapture best explains the textual details in Scripture. Taking the strengths of the Pre-, Mid-, and Post-trib positions and adding the defining straight of the PreWrath position, Cooper sets forth the four pillars that must undergird the correct rapture position. Cooper insists that if his position is viable, one must see in the Revelation About Christ a significant gathering of God's people to heaven near the beginning of God's eschatological wrath on earth. Seven passages in Revelation may support an indirect reference to the rapture: Revelation 3:10; 4:1-2; 7:9-17; 11:11-19; 12:1-5; 14:14-16; and 19:11-20:4. Each passage has been espoused by at least one of the dominant rapture positions.

In the last episode, we reviewed a thought-provoking book called "Three Views on the Rapture: Pretribulation, Prewrath, or Posttribulation" that delves into one of the most debated topics among Christians: the timing of the rapture. Implied in the discussion of the rapture is an understanding of the event closely related to it, called the Tribulation. One of the key features of the Tribulation is the rise of a person who has come to be called Antichrist. The scholars who authored this book disagree about the timing, but also about the nature of the Tribulation. Will Christians be there? This question shapes how we might understand the timing of the Tribulation and the return of Jesus. But are there other questions? Introducing the AntichristAt the end of history as we know it, evil and rebellion against God will rise, represented by an earthly ruler known as Antichrist. The prophetic chapters of the book of Daniel reveal a sequence of empires ended by the kingdom of God. They predict a future time when a powerful king arises to oppress God's people. This king will be the ultimate, satanically inspired opponent of God, a climactic person of wickedness and arrogance. Daniel 9:26-27 (NLT) “After this period of sixty-two sets of seven, the Anointed One will be killed, appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple. The end will come with a flood, and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end. The ruler will make a treaty with the people for a period of one set of seven, but after half this time, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds, he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration, until the fate decreed for this defiler is finally poured out on him.”Matthew 24:14 (NLT) “The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about - the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing in the Holy Place.”2 Thessalonians 2:3-12 (NLT) Don't be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God. Don't you remember that I told you about all this when I was with you? And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes. For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way. Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming. This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.According to Daniel 9:27, this Antichrist will make a covenant with Israel, which he will break to desecrate the temple. (Compare Matthew 24:15) Called the Man of Lawlessness, he will exalt himself and defy God, actually claiming to be God (2...
"Three Views on the Rapture: Pretribulation, Prewrath, or Posttribulation" is a thought-provoking book (Counterpoints series) that delves into one of the most debated topics among Christians: the timing of the rapture. Authored by leading scholars, Douglas J. Moo, Alan Hultberg, and Craig A. Blaising, this book presents three distinct perspectives on when the rapture will occur in relation to the events of the end times.1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NLT) And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words. The book begins with an introduction that sets the stage for the discussion, explaining the significance of the rapture within eschatological theology and the diverse interpretations surrounding it. It highlights the importance of understanding the biblical passages related to the rapture and the need for respectful dialogue among believers who hold different views.Pre-TribThe pretribulation rapture view, presented by Craig A. Blaising, holds that believers will be taken up to heaven before the period of intense tribulation mentioned in the book of Revelation. This perspective asserts that the rapture is an event separate from the second coming of Christ, and that it will occur prior to the onset of the prophesied tribulation.Proponents of the pretribulation rapture view argue that this interpretation aligns with the New Testament's emphasis on the imminent return of Christ and the hope and comfort it provides to believers. They point to passages such as 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, where Paul describes how the Lord will descend from heaven, and believers who are alive will be caught up to meet Him in the air. This catching away of believers, or the rapture, is seen as a moment of joyful reunion with Christ and the resurrection of deceased believers.Advocates of this view emphasize that the tribulation period, often associated with intense turmoil and divine judgment, is distinct from the church's experience. They argue that the purpose of the tribulation is to bring judgment upon the unbelieving world and to fulfill God's purposes for Israel, rather than to purify or refine the church. Therefore, believers are viewed as being spared from the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 5:9), taken away to be with Christ in heaven before the tribulation unfolds on earth. In support of the pretribulation rapture, proponents also draw from the early church's historical understanding of the rapture. They highlight writings from church fathers such as Ephraem the Syrian, who expressed belief in a two-stage return of Christ, with the first stage being a secret coming to rapture believers.Critics of the pretribulation rapture view raise various objections. Some argue that the concept of a pretribulation rapture is a relatively recent theological development and not widely accepted throughout church history. Others contend that the Bible does not explicitly support a two-stage return of Christ, as would be required by a pretribulation rapture, and that the passages cited can be interpreted differently.Despite these disagreements, the pretribulation...

Dr. Alan Kurschner traced four key biblical accounts of the celestial disturbance events in Joel 2:30-31, Matthew 24:29, Luke 21:25–28, and the sixth seal in Rev 6:12–17. He explained the prewrath understanding and its consistency between Joel, Jesus, and the Book of Revelation. The celestial disturbance event demonstrates the biblical distinction between the Antichrist's great tribulation and the day of the Lord's wrath. Dr. Kurschner also described that the rapture would happen between the sixth and the seventh seal, which is consistent with Matthew 24:31. The following are three illustrations that show these points: Chart taken from Antichrist Before the Day of the Lord: What Every Christian Needs to Know about the Return of Christ by Alan Kurschner Table taken from Antichrist Before the Day of the Lord: What Every Christian Needs to Know about the Return of Christ by Alan Kurschner Table taken from Antichrist Before the Day of the Lord: What Every Christian Needs to Know about the Return of Christ by Alan Kurschner For more resources on the prewrath viewpoint, see here.
