While home during college break Kylee McGrane watched the movie Frozen. As she saw  the Princess Elsa, and also thought about how Taylor Swift  did so much for Pediatric Cancer patients , Kylee thought it would be fun to dress up like a princess herself, and visit a pediatric cancer patient in the hospital. After she and her roommate went to a hospital on Long Island  dressing up as Princesses Anna and Elsa, Kylee decided to continue what she started , which ultimately led to to her non profit A MOMENT OF MAGIC.This non profit, which features college students from around the country dressing up as princesses and interacting with pediatric cancer patients is now in 350 hospitals, has helped 110,000 kids, and has 29 chapters in colleges and universities in the United States. 

Sometimes things go wrong.  Mistakes are made.  We Fail.  It happens to the best of us.  Of course it's best to not beat ourselves up too much and dwell on these failures, but rather to pick ourselves up, shake ourselves off, and keep moving forward.  In the words of Princess Elsa (or was it Princess Anna?) just "LET IT GO." But of course there's another side to this coin.  In the words of the philosopher George Santayana, "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it."  In todays episode, Scott and Kati discuss the balancing act between leaving our failures in the past, and examining them for wisdom we can use going forward.

Tv Shows and Movies fuel many ideas for cakes. It has become a self, sustained relationship and a new standard, in cake decorating. Some bakers might feel differently in small sectors of the market, such as weddings, and specialty niches. But if you picture a big pie chart of cake decoration types, Pop culture dominates. This brings me to a perfect example of how pop culture affects everything in cake decorating. You are probably familiar with Disneys Frozen Movie. Princess Elsa is one of the main characters of the movie and, also one of the best selling edible images on amazon. Copyrighted material cannot be printed and sold, because is illegal. The only company that is allowed, to print disney images is, DecoPac. We will dedicate an episode to copyrighted material. Copyright is a law, that protects the artist or owners of the intellectual property. It was created to incentivized artist and creators. At this time edible images are very popular for printing photographs for cakes, cookies and cupcakes. Experienced cake decorators are using edible images in more sophisticated forms. You can see edible images in complex detail cakes like 3d cakes and even in classic fondant tier cakes. Slowly edible printing is becoming more popular due to it’s consistency, precision and economics. What I mean by consistency is that people are asking for this product. It's execution is very precise, what you see is what you get. Economics wise, the printer systems are getting cheaper every year. Just with a couple of hundred dollars you can get your self a cake printing station. You can get edible images in most popular online stores like eBay, amazon and go go cakes.
