#theidol #lilyrosedepp #theweeknd The Idol is an American drama television series created by Sam Levinson, Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye, and Reza Fahim. The series focuses on an aspiring pop idol (Lily-Rose Depp) and her complex relationship with a self-help guru and cult leader Tedros (Tesfaye). Appearing in supporting roles are Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Ruby Jane, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey, and Hank Azaria. The series also marks the final television appearance of Anne Heche, who died on August 11, 2022. Development on the series began in June 2021 when Tesfaye announced that he would be creating, executive producing and co-writing a drama series for HBO alongside Fahim and Levinson. Joseph Epstein and Amy Seimetz were attached to serve as writer-showrunner and director, respectively. Seimetz's initial approach on the project was that of a troubled starlet falling victim to a predatory industry figure and fighting to reclaim her own agency. Depp was cast to play the female lead opposite Tesfaye in September 2021, with the remaining cast announced between November 2021 and July 2022. Much of series was filmed when Levinson took over directing duties after Seimetz exited the project amid its production delay and creative overhaul in April 2022. Levinson scrapped Seimetz's work and production resumed in May 2022 in a different direction. Principal photography occurred in Los Angeles and Bel Air. The Idol began airing on HBO and Max on June 4, 2023. Its first two episodes premiered in May 2023, at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where it was met with unfavorable reviews from critics for its sexual content, themes, script, and direction. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/popcorn-junkies/message

Amy Seimetz’s second feature film, She Dies Tomorrow, is about a young woman named Amy (Kate Lyn Sheil) who holds the inescapable certainty that she will die in one day. When she confides in her friend Jane (Jane Adams), the prophecy begins to spread, igniting a chain reaction of existential dread. Seimetz knew she wanted to bring her characteristic "dark sense of humor" to the film, and bend genre conventions. That meant shooting it in chunks, and funding it herself."I didn't want to have to answer questions about what it was going to be," she says. "I was the only person that I was answering to."She Dies Tomorrow is now available on demand. You can email your host, Eric Steuer, at eric@moviemaker.com with feedback and guests you'd love to hear. “Collider Ladies Night” returns, but with a brand new spin on it! This new iteration of the show puts a spotlight on the ladies taking over Hollywood that you absolutely should know about. In front of the camera, behind it, maybe both; this series is highlighting individuals who are not only delivering top-notch content but they’re also changing the industry for the better, and we’re kicking this off with Pet Sematary’s Amy Seimetz. The movie marks her first lead role in a major studio release, but odds are, you’ve seen her work before, whether it’s her performances in independent films like Upstream Color and A Horrible Way to Die, her work as a showrunner on The Girlfriend Experience, or maybe her appearance on Stranger Things as Jane Ives. Her whole resume comes together to suggest that Seimetz is a storytelling Swiss Army knife who not only takes great pride in creating bold material but is also extremely knowledgable in a multitude of departments with a burning desire to learn more. Basically, I think Hollywood needs more creatives like Amy Seimetz and that’s why she’s the very first centerpiece for this revamped version of “Collider Ladies Night!” Be sure to check out our full conversation on her journey from becoming an accidental actor to taking the studio plunge and signing on to star in the new Pet Sematary movie in this video. Seimetz also shares tons of inspiring details about the importance of longevity in her career, what made her jump into Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, why she feels like a spy on sets, and so much more. You can hear about it all in this episode of “Collider Ladies Night!” Also, be sure to catch her in Pet Sematary when the movie hits theaters nationwide on April 5th. In case you missed it, I absolutely loved the film. Here’s the official synopsis for the film: “Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.” Follow Perri Nemiroff on Twitter: https://twitter.com/PNemiroff

How it works as an individual movie as well as how it fits into and essentially changes the entire franchise. And as we break down this lovely parallel for the futility of life, we also mention... Noomi Rapace, the susceptibility of humans and pugs, big wheat, the lost episode of Heavy Metal, an overwhelming sense of mystery, Michael Fassbender, kind of timeless, planet designers, hinges on insanity, you knew that was coming because the movie kept going, less-predictable twists, the bastion of humility, masking frustration, this... means something, Don Knotts in every movie ever, what's the point of all this, faith-based leader, as the years go on... these do become our myths, science fiction my ass, person gets into a situation... then it's non-stop action 'til the end of the movie, replacing cloud with butt, it's mouth has a mouth, that stuff does other stuff, a landing party full of red shirts, shut-ins with no cable, Lawrence of Arabia, eating high school graduates, Fassbender on Fassbender action, CGI aliens, connecting dots that I didn't necessarily need connected, not believe in Darwinism, do we need that level of complexity, subtle yet distinct, tiny John Cena, like Jurassic Park, Mr. robotic by the books guy, the Nazi, shorthand, divorce lawyers in space, hey I'm gonna make... art, concentrated acid for blood, oxygen tanks and guns, dogburster and I want to go over to Giger's house and just touch things. Spoiler Alert: Full spoilers for Alien: Covenant. So go see the movie before you listen. You have been warned!
