"Hurry Up Tomorrow" is the new film from Trey Edward Shults, the filmmaker behind films such as "Krisha," "It Comes At Night" and "Waves." The film acts as a companion piece to Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye's sixth studio album of the same name, which was produced in conjunction with the film. It stars Tesfaye as a fictionalized version of himself, an insomniac musician on the verge of a mental breakdown who is pulled into an existential odyssey by a mysterious stranger, with actors Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan also starring. Shults was kind enough to spend some time speaking with us about his work and experience making the film, which you can listen to below. Please be sure to check out the film, which will open in theaters on May 16th from Lionsgate. Thank you, and enjoy! Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on... In “A Muddy Future for Louisiana Crawfish,” Gravy producer Eva Tesfaye traces the aftermath of the summer of 2023, when a severe drought in Louisiana devastated the 2024 crawfish season. The dry soil and extreme heat killed the crawfish while they were still burrowed underground, meaning when farmers flooded their fields in the fall, they found their harvest would be dismal for the spring. That caused both farmers and consumers to suffer. In Louisiana, where crawfish are normally around $3 per pound, prices reached as high as $9 a pound. In Texas, it was even higher, around $12 a pound. Tesfaye followed this story while it was happening, and it left her with a new question: With climate change bringing more extreme weather, are there ways to protect the state's beloved mudbugs? To answer that question, she talked to Michael Moreaux, a crawfish farmer experimenting with different agricultural practices to attempt to produce healthy crawfish that can weather anything. By focusing on the health of his female crawfish, using native grasses to feed them and filtering the water in his ponds, Michael seems to be producing tasty, resilient crawfish. He wants farmers and academics alike to take a look at his work, but the way the crawfish industry is set up makes it difficult for farmers to innovate, and academia doesn't have enough crawfish specialists to solve all the problems threatening the state's harvest. One person interested in Michael's methods is the young farmer Bruno Sagrera, who is struggling to break into the crawfish industry. Having grown up on a crawfish farm, he believes there are dire problems with the way crawfish are farmed today, but can't get his family to buy into the practices he wants to try—so he's on his own. Both Michael and Bruno want to improve crawfish farming practices so that Louisianans can continue to eat the beloved mudbugs for generations to come. Learn more about your ad choices.
Everything we do at Standard Issue is inspired by those that have come before us. This episode featuring Mikhayel Tesfaye is a testament of that. Once a student. Now a teacher. His journey is made up of the stories we truly enjoy. Wu Wear. Phat Farm. Trips back from Tokyo with duffle bags of goods, to supplying Japanese denim which would land as one of the most iconic Jay-Z bars we all know and love. Alot of game and knowledge in his years doing this. This is just part 1 for Mik. Enjoy...
In this episode we are joined by Linda Anala Tesfaye and Bikila Warkineh. Linda is a project researcher from the TreesForDev project leading the work package that is looking at Ethiopia. Bikila is the Head of Plant Biology and Biodiversity Management at Addis Ababa University and works as Associate Professor of Ecology. His research centers on the broad area of the ecological sciences and ecosystems ecology. He is strongly interested in the science, politics, and policies of natural resource management, climate change, sustainable development, and how these are linked with socio-economic development. Bikila and Linda give us insight into the history and current developments in tree planting in Ethiopia. Ethiopia has a long history with tree planting and more generally greening initiatives. Through the Green Legacy Initiative, Ethiopia has become a forerunner in ecological restoration in the African context. The activities in Ethiopia go beyond just tree planting, but really working toward developing a resilient and green culture in the face of climate change. One key facet of the work being done in Ethiopia is the widespread use of native species in the planting projects. This model has had many positive regional impacts and has strongly influenced the approach to tree planting in its neighboring countries. Selam was inauspicious of her father act and drank it, which seduced to lead her bed. Her father stalked to her bedroom and raped her in semi-consciousness state. Afterward Selam decided to reveal the rape to her aunt though she afraid to confidentially tell her in spite of her taciturn venture. Distraught Selam, then returned the home back before she saw another rape with her sister; which later proclaimed herself as HIV positive. At that time she was confused and revealed to her aunt; who secluded her socially; living as an isolated person and decided to appear in television program about the incident, without her aunt consultant, also gaining media attention. Appearing in supporting roles are Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Ruby Jane, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey, and Hank Azaria. The series also marks the final television appearance of Anne Heche, who died on August 11, 2022. Development on the series began in June 2021 when Tesfaye announced that he would be creating, executive producing and co-writing a drama series for HBO alongside Fahim and Levinson. Joseph Epstein and Amy Seimetz were attached to serve as writer-showrunner and director, respectively. Seimetz's initial approach on the project was that of a troubled starlet falling victim to a predatory industry figure and fighting to reclaim her own agency. Depp was cast to play the female lead opposite Tesfaye in September 2021, with the remaining cast announced between November 2021 and July 2022. Much of series was filmed when Levinson took over directing duties after Seimetz exited the project amid its production delay and creative overhaul in April 2022. Levinson scrapped Seimetz's work and production resumed in May 2022 in a different direction. Principal photography occurred in Los Angeles and Bel Air. The Idol began airing on HBO and Max on June 4, 2023. Its first two episodes premiered in May 2023, at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where it was met with unfavorable reviews from critics for its sexual content, themes, script, and direction. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/popcorn-junkies/message

On this episode I am back with a familiar guest Abraham Tesfaye (Abrish). Abrish was the first guest to be on this podcast and I am honored to have him back. On this conversation we touch a lot of topics as friends do. Specifically, I want to highlight the fact that this episodes main intention is to introduce Abrish's new project. Abrish now has a new podcast and we discuss what that is and what he wants to do with his new podcast. We don't just stay there. We discuss topics related to our frustrations and opinions in the current political, cultural and faith worlds. I encourage you to listen to the whole segment till the end because I believe you'll hear Abrish's passion and heart for Christ and he drops some nuggets of wisdom.
