In this spoiler-free instant take, Will Ashton jumps on the mic solo to give you his first impressions of Black Bag, the sleek and sizzling new spy thriller from director Steven Soderbergh. With a star-studded cast led by Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender, Black Bag is a taut, high-style espionage caper that calls back to the classy, grown-up thrillers of yesteryear. Will dives into what makes this film click.Iits sophisticated style, whip-smart screenplay (co-written by Soderbergh collaborator David Koepp), and a third act that actually sticks the landing. He compares it to classics like Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Out of Sight, highlighting how Soderbergh leans into his signature charm, sexiness, and cinematic craftsmanship. Other stars include Naomi Harris, Pierce Brosnan, Tom Burke, Regé-Jean Page, and Marisa Abela. All of whom get their moment to shine. Will also touches on Fassbender’s continued hot streak post-The Killer. Plus, why Blanchett is perfectly matched for this kind of layered, stylish fare. Clocking in at a brisk 95 minutes, Black Bag is a sharp and satisfying return to form. It's equally suited for a theater outing or a high-quality night in. Listen in for Will’s take on where Black Bag ranks among Soderbergh’s post-retirement filmography. And why this might be one of his most entertaining efforts in years. Dorian Price and Mark Radulich present our Prometheus 2012 Movie Review!Prometheus is a 2012 science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof. The film features an ensemble cast including Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, and Charlize Theron. Set in the late 21st century, the film centers on the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as it follows a star map discovered among the artifacts of several ancient Earth cultures. Seeking the origins of humanity, the crew arrives on a distant world and discovers a threat that could cause the extinction of the human species.Scott and director James Cameron developed ideas for a film that would serve as a prequel to Scott's science-fiction horror film Alien (1979). In 2002, the development of Alien vs. Predator (2004) took precedence, and the project remained dormant until 2009 when Scott again showed interest. Spaihts wrote a script for a prequel to the events of the Alien films, but Scott opted for a different direction to avoid repeating cues from those films. In late 2010, Lindelof joined the project to rewrite Spaihts's script, and he and Scott developed a story that precedes the story of Alien but is not directly connected to the original series. According to Scott, although the film shares "strands of Alien's DNA," and takes place in the same universe, Prometheus explores its own mythology and ideas.Prometheus entered production in April 2010, with extensive design phases during which the technology and creatures that the film required were developed. Principal photography began in March 2011, with an estimated $120–130 million budget. The film was shot using 3D cameras throughout, almost entirely on practical sets, and on location in England, Iceland, Scotland, Jordan, and Spain. It was promoted with a marketing campaign that included viral activities on the web. Three videos featuring the film's leading actors in character, which expanded on elements of the fictional universe, were released and met with a generally positive reception and awards.Prometheus was released on June 1, 2012, in the United Kingdom and on June 8, 2012, in North America. The film earned generally positive reviews, receiving praise for the designs, production values, and cast performances, but was criticized for its uneven script and unresolved plot points. The film grossed over $403 million worldwide. A sequel, Alien: Covenant, was released in May 2017.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

It can be hard to make healthy changes. And there's no shortage of advice on what to change and how to change. In this episode, we dig into why change can be hard and how to make the process a bit easier. We'll talk about the nuances of external and internal motivators in behavior change, distinguishing between external (extrinsic) motivators, which stem from outside forces, and internal (intrinsic) motivators, which arise from our personal desires or values. The short story is that external motivators can be effective in the short term, especially for routine or necessity-driven tasks, but they often fall short in fostering lasting behavioral changes that contribute to wellbeing. We'll share some insights into human biology, including our evolutionary drives and the principle of homeostasis, while also touching on the significance of self-acceptance and self-compassion in nurturing internal motivation. The Academy Awards are finally completed, which means the Awards Season has but one stop... the Deucie Awards. And to give out the awards, you need the nominations... so tonight, two special guests and Friends of the Show step up to reveal all that you have been wishing for (and you'll find below) First, though, Mikey, d$, and #XLessDrEarl discuss a little Oscar recap -- what was snubbed, the surprises, the chalk of it all, the good parts and the bad. Then, they take a look at their fave films of the year, and while all of their Top 10s are coming up in a few weeks, along with the actual Deucie Awards, they look just outside the Top 10, at numbers 11 through 15 on their lists. In something of a return to the sort of film that made his name, Taika Waititi co-writes and directs a quirky, charming comedy-drama set in Polynesia. Next Goal Wins adapts the true story of the American Samoan football team (and the 2014 documentary about it that gives this film its title), famously one of the worst teams on the planet, who begin the film in despair following their 31-0 world-record international defeat to Australia. Seeking new inspiration, they recruit Thomas Rongen, a Dutch-American coach with a reputation for losing his temper and getting sacked, to lead them in their quest for World Cup qualification. We discuss Waititi's comedic style, to what extent the film requires knowledge of the culture and sport it shows, the complexities of Rongen's history and relationship with his ex-wife, and how Fassbender, not known for his work in comedy, fits uncomfortably into such a role, but what he brings to it dramatically that you wouldn't typically expect. Most of all - we have fun! Next Goal Wins is an immensely likeable and charming film and it's Christmas, after all. Or at least it was when we saw it. Recorded on 27th December 2023.

This week on KHAP, the boys take a look at David Fincher's latest release "The Killer". Listen to this episode to hear why Kody thinks this movie is boring, why the ending represents Fincher's deal with the devil, why Fassbender is a great actor, and so much more. This episode and our last regular episode of the year is focusing on what some are saying is the best film of the year. Yes I am of course writing about, Wonka. Wonka is of course a prequel to the musical classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. And yes we're talking about our favourite prequel films. And I'm joined by a regular guest to the podcast, he's practically part of the furniture now, It's Leigh from the Lights, Camera, Rant Podcast.Warning we will be talking SPOILERS.Leighs pick for prequel films is of is of course a comic book film, but arguably one of the best X-Men films, X-Men: First Class. On this one we talk about how good the writing is between Erik and Charles and how their relationship develops. We talk about all the great Fassbender scenes in the first half of the film but also why the film gets bogged down in the first half too. We talk action, Kevin bacon having a great time and why is the tornado guy here. IMDB page Lights Camera Rant Podcast link FVF Social linkstwitterinstagramTikTokAs ever please enjoy.Support the show

This year, we are thankful for David Fincher. We dive into the self-parodic (or self-serious?) Fassbender voiceover. Is there such thing as too many Smiths needle drops? Plus: are we one of the many, or one of the few?
It's David Fincher week as the fellas check out "The Killer" on Netflix before ranking the Top 5 David Fincher movies. Plus, John Wayne talks kid jujitsu, and Stew asks how early is too early for Christmas decorations?
Matt and Bob summon their inner Fassbender to methodically take on the newest Fincher joint "The Killer" streaming on Netflix. Give it a listen today!
Finch Club returns with Michael Fassbender's OTHER international assassin movie.
For this week's second podcast review, I am joined by Brendan Hodges & Giovanni Lago. Today, we are reviewing the newest film from director David Fincher, "The Killer," starring Michael Fassbender, Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Kerry O'Malley, Sala Baker, Sophie Charlotte & Tilda Swinton. Reuniting with screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker ("Seven"), this adaptation of the graphic novel for Netflix is darkly funny and a perfect match of material toward Fincher's meticulous and precise sensibilities as a filmmaker. What did we think of its tone, writing, direction, action scenes, Fassbender's reserved performance, and more? Please tune in to find out all of this and about its awards prospects in our SPOILER-FILLED review. Thank you, and enjoy! Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on...
Fincher's back! (David that is) As it is Fassbender...Michael Fassbender as his star. The Oscar-nominated director of Seven, Fight Club, and The Social Network has returned towards directing his first full-on thriller in more than a decade. (If we're not counting Gone Girl which is as much a social satire and domestic comedy/drama) Fincher is telling us a story (based on a French graphic novel of the same name) about an unnamed lone assassin (Fassbender) traversing across the globe, determined to go up the chain of another planned kill which affected some one close to him. It's a lean, mean, chilly excursion into the world of a man who specializes in only one particular set of skills....and as he encounters others in this world, those skills are undoubtedly tested. Co-stars included Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, and Tilda Swinton. It's time to make a killing.....Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon https://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

This is our review for David Fincher's latest film, The Killer. From its suspenseful plot to its stunning visuals, we discuss this Neo-noir thriller, offering our thoughts on the intricacies of Fincher's storytelling and the stellar performance from Michael Fassbender as a cold, calculated hitman that make this Netflix Original film a must-watch.The Killer is in select theatres October 27, 2023 and on Netflix November 10, 2023If you want to support the actors of the things we love, you can do so by checking out these links:https://members.sagfoundation.org/donateCheck out Geekcentric onYouTube | Instagram | Twitter | TikTokJoin the Geekcentric Discord HEREJoin Nate on Twitch at - twitch.tv/nateplaysgames
Japan-based feminist scholar, Dr. Isabel Fassbender, discusses her new book, Active Pursuit of Pregnancy: Neoliberalism, Postfeminism and the Politics of Reproduction in Contemporary Japan, and how a toxic mix of patriarchy, biomedical capitalism, and nationalism has emerged in response to Japan's slightly declining population. As a country whose ecological footprint is nearly 8 times its biocapacity, and whose citizens chronically suffer from a culture of overwork and socio-economic and political disempowerment, Japan should be welcoming a decline in its population. However, in keeping with its lowest rank on the gender equality index among industrialized countries, Japan has instead created a sense of panic around the declining birth rate, and has employed a series of exploitative tactics to compel Japanese women to produce more babies. By joining forces with the multi-billion dollar fertility industry, Japanese politicians have infiltrated the mass media and the education system to teach young women about the importance of family and reproduction; meanwhile, the quality of sex education, abortion provision, and reproductive rights remain abysmally poor. Isabel is empowering her college students to think critically about these rigid gender and pronatalist norms and to become politically engaged to confront them.
