This week, Escape's newest tech writer, Alex Hunt becomes the latest voice on the show. Joined by Suvi, Dave, and Brad, the geeks discuss the biggest news in the week of tech, a tech development that could have a game-changing application, and answer several technical questions. There is Scott's newly renewed focus on weight and what appears to be crazily light tyres coming from Schwalbe. Dave thinks Magura's recently announced Easy Link hose system could be a glimpse at the future of easing the pain that is integrated cabling. The geeks then discuss a few smaller bits of tech and then get to an important maintenance-related matter that impacts all bikes. Finally, the Ask a Wrench segment answers things related to headsets, bottom bracket/crank installation, and tandems. A special thanks to frame builder Brad Bingham (plus Butch Boucher and Steve Potts!) for helping to answer that tandem question.Time stamps1:00 - An introduction to Escape's newest tech hire, Alex Hunt4:30 - Scott's Addict RC proves weight still sells12:00 - The unknowns of Schwalbe's new Aerothan tyres25:00 - On our minds, the future of quick disconnect hydraulic hoses33:00 - PSA: Draining those bikes40:50 - Enve's SES Aero Pro one-piece road bar43:00 - Outlier's Unusual Axle-Free Pedal Designs47:00 - The Smart Lever, aims to ease tyre installation52:00 - Ask a Wrench: Steering range limiting headsets58:30 - Ask a Wrench: Tandem-related things, answered by the experts1:06:00 - Ask a Wrench: How freely should a new bottom bracket spin?

He said he expects this decision to be reversed. The family of a man left paralysed have told GBC they are relieved to have settled their legal claim with the Care Agency for over 10 million pounds. Curtis Sullivan suffered a broken neck in an accident at the Dr Giraldi home in 2013. He's needed round the clock care since.

On this episode, Mark Strigl speaks with Tommy Krash formerly of Britny Fox, He is currently working with Tim Ripper Owens in the Leviathan Project. He also has a new project called Infinity Rain which can be heard of Apple Music. The second interview is with Tom Wallace of the project Guild of Others which also features Derek Sherinian, Steve Potts, Tony Fraklin, Craig Goldy, and others.Check out Guild of Others on SoundCloud.Guild of Others on FacebookGuild Of Other Bio: "Guild of Others accomplish the near impossible, and that is making progressive metal that is accessible," proclaims venerated rock author/critic Martin Popoff. High praise from someone steeped in musical knowledge and history. He continued, "This sounds like thinking man's stadium rock. In a plethora of old and new school styles, these hooky compositions keep the proceedings earthy and built for the stage." He went on to place Guild of Others' debut among some of the rock world's most legendary and successful acts. "It's songs very much like this that resulted in early notoriety for Rush and even Styx for that matter. There's no reason why Guild of Others can't serve large pockets of fans... who believe in those same ideals toward both heaviness and craftsmanship." Wow! Quite an endorsement.Begun by Tom Wallace (drums) and Steve Potts (guitar), Guild of Others is a collection of musicians from various bands and backgrounds. As songs between the two began taking shape, questions of whom else to bring into the fold arose. Considering the style of music the two were creating, the keyboardist most desired was easy. Derek Sherinian (Sons of Apollo, Dream Theater, BCC, etc...) was top of the list. Upon hearing the demos, Derek's response was perfect. He described the music as, "Aggressive and adventurous. Without being too proggy." He liked it and would add his talents. Among the material were two songs Steve and Tom both felt needed fretless bass. For that, they reached out to well-known bassist, Tony Franklin. (The Firm, Blue Murder, etc...) Steve and Tom were floored by Tony's playing. His style and tone offered everything needed to complete the bottom end. His counter melodies and bass fills were superb. The guys requested he record the six remaining songs and he obliged. For vocals, local singer Mark Hammond was tapped for six of the songs. Michael Sadler (Saga) and Henrik Bath (Dark Water) lend their talents for the remaining two. The three vocalists offer three unique sounds and styles. All of which work perfectly for the material. In addition to the musicians already mentioned, guitar shredder Craig Goldy (Dio, Resurrection Kings) offers a blistering solo on "Veil of Insanity". As an added treat, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Michael Bruce (Alice Cooper) and wife Lynette contribute the doting parents' voice-over for "Memento".The "Others" part of Guild of Others suggests future recordings will always involve other musicians. Tom and Steve are the driving force behind Guild of Others. They will remain. While always appreciating those who have participated in this debut effort and welcoming their return, there is already material for a second album. with hopes of bringing in new names and making new friends. ____________________Find all-things Mark Strigl here: MarkStrigl.netFollow Mark Strigl on Twitter: @talkingmetal Follow Mark Strigl on Instagram.Support this show by making a PayPal donation. Please consider sharing this episode on social media and leaving a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts.Get bonus content and support Mark on Patreon for as little as $2 a month: www.patreon.com/talkingmetal#DreamTheater #Tesla #heavymetal #hardrock #talkingmetal #BritnyFox #JudasPriestSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
One of my favorite records of 2021! Imagine if John Coltrane and Alice Coltrane had the opportunity to make one more record together, it would sound like this record "WAX///WANE" Bio Information on Lucien Johnson: Lucien Johnson has been described as “a saxophonist and composer of rare excellence and mettle.” Involved in a diverse range of artistic projects, his music always succeeds in maintaining a distinctive sound, with a chameleonic emotional range that can shift from warm and intimate through to radical and rebellious. Growing up in an artistic household in Pukerua Bay, north of Wellington, New Zealand, Johnson took off for Europe at the age of 22. Since then his music has been greatly informed by his global travelling and encounters. Living in Paris for most of his formative years in the 2000s, he performed in a free improvising trio with Alan Silva (master free jazz double bassist and contemporary of Cecil Taylor, Sun Ra and Albert Ayler) and Makoto Sato, releasing an album on French label Improvised Beings. He has performed with a long list of luminaries from jazz and improvised music, such as Mulatu Astatke, Barre Phillips, Marilyn Crispell, John Betsch, Steve Potts, Jobic Le Masson and Lol Coxhill. He returned to New Zealand in 2009 where he completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Victoria University. Johnson has composed music for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the New Zealand Dance Company, for short film and documentaries and for his own projects. He was musical director of Shogun Orchestra which released two albums on German label Jakarta Records. His latest album under his own name, “West of the Sun”, was released on Japanese label Wonderful Noise and was a finalist for NZ jazz album of the year. Johnson is the composer for Borderline Arts Ensemble, directed by choreographer Lucy Marinkovich. For their work, LOBSTERS, Johnson was awarded Sound Designer of the Year and was also nominated for Outstanding Composer at the Wellington Theatre Awards. Johnson wrote the scipt and music for their next project, STRASBOURG 1518, which was a major commission for the 2020 New Zealand Festival. It was subsequently performed at the 2021 Auckland Arts Festival and at a sold-out return Wellington season to rave reviews. Johnson and Marinkovich were co-recipients of the 2018 Harriet Friedlander New York Residency, administered by the Arts Foundation of New Zealand. Our guest on this episode is Steve Potts with the Potts Law Group (www.PottsLawGroup.com). Steve is an attorney and an expert on negotiating commercial leases from the tenant's perspective. What is the number 1 thing people should do first when negotiating a lease? Why have an attorney in the first place? Once a tenant and their tenant rep negotiate the business terms, isn't that the time when an attorney should be brought into the picture? One of the most talked about clauses in light of COVID has been force majeure. What is that and how does it work in practice? Landlords are evaluating tenant credit more than ever and it's likely to increase personal guarantees. What are your thoughts on those? As tenant reps, we review leases and recommend lots of changes. But since we aren't attorneys, we can't offer specific language to properly document those recommendations. In fact, there are certain clauses we really don't read at all. Indemnification is one of those. I almost always see attorneys make changes to this clause. Why? Leases contain many, many time periods requiring tenants to do things by a certain time or something bad happens. Can you discuss some of those? We often see landlords' insurance requirements stated in the lease, but the actual coverage carried by the tenant doesn't always match that. Have you seen this discrepancy come back to haunt tenants? Is there a particular clause in commercial leases which causes tenants the most grief if not properly worded? Is there a horror story of when a tenant didn't take your advice and it ended in disaster? What are the two most important recommendations you have for companies leasing space? Thanks for listening to another episode of the Confessions of a Recovering Landlord podcast. And a big shout out to today's guest, Mr. Steve Potts with Potts Law Group (www.PottsLawGroup.com). At REATA Commercial Realty, we exclusively serve companies that lease or purchase office and warehouse space. We never represent landlords.
