Why do we expect our paths to success to be smooth, linear journeys? The truth is that growth rarely happens in isolation—and it is almost never a straight line.In this episode, guest Lisa Marree joins the show to unpack the profound connection between personal growth, community, and the power of breaking free from old habits. Lisa opens up about her own journey as a recovering loner who had to learn to look past the negative behavior patterns imprinted on her during childhood.Together, we dive into how the modern "perfection trap" on social media fuels self-doubt and unhelpful mental autopilot loops. Lisa shares the vital mindset shift required to survive and thrive through tough times: accepting early on that there will be difficult moments, learning how to "fail forward," and leaning on a trusted community and mentors to help you climb through the mud.Watch Marketing with Russ...aka #RussSelfie, Episode 614Featuring Lisa MarreeConnect with Lisa:LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/lisa-marreeWebsite: https://lisamarree.com/Email: hello@lisamarree.com Connect with Me:Website: https://www.russhedge.com #MarketingwithRuss #SuccessJourney #GrowthMindset #EntrepreneurMindset #OvercomingFailure #Persistence #PersonalGrowth #SuccessMindset #Motivation #Resilience #Leadership #KeepGoing

Your Nursing Career Doesn't Have to Follow a Straight LineSUMMARY: What if your nursing career didn't have to follow the traditional bedside path to be meaningful—or impactful? In this episode, host MacKenzie Butler sits down with Donna Cardillo, a nurse whose career journey defies convention. From psychiatric hospitals and emergency departments to healthcare reimbursement, education, writing, and career coaching, Donna shares how saying “yes” to unexpected opportunities reshaped her professional life—and helped countless nurses do the same. Together, they explore why so many nurses undervalue their transferable skills, how imposter syndrome shows up even in successful careers, and why nursing is an identity, not a job title or setting. Donna offers practical advice on networking, LinkedIn, resumes, and confidence-building—along with a powerful reminder that nurses can create impact far beyond the patients they'll ever meet face to face. If you've ever wondered what else you can do with a nursing degree—or felt stuck waiting for permission to try something new—this conversation is for you. ---Nurses may be able to complete an accredited CE activity featuring content from this podcast and earn CE hours provided from Elite Learning by Colibri Healthcare. In this episode, I'm sharing a more personal reflection on what it's actually like to move through grief when your brain is already wired for intensity, sensitivity, and self-questioning. Because one of the things I've noticed…n is how quickly grief can get mislabelled as avoidance. You might think:  “Why can't I just get back to normal?”  “Am I slipping?”  “Do I just need more discipline?”   But what if that's not what's happening at all?  In this episode, we explore: The difference between avoidance vs readiness after grief (and why that matters) How your nervous system processes loss (and why you feel so tired) The productivity pressure ADHDers carry, to push through and perform What it means to listen inward instead of overriding yourself Gentle ways to support yourself when you feel raw, slower, or not quite ready  Want support with this work? If this episode resonates, this is exactly the kind of space I create inside my coaching work —  where we move away from burnout and pressure, and towards self-trust, nervous system safety, and sustainable ways of living and working with ADHD.  Join me in person at Golden – 15th May in London  A space to connect, unmask, and be around women who get it—without having to explain yourself. For the month of April, I've been unpacking real client case studies inside the SF coaching method. And today I want to give you a slightly different lens. Yes, we mostly work with women, but we do coach men as well. And this one is worth sharing because you're going to hear parts of yourself inside the story, even if the demographic looks different on paper. This client is a high level CEO type A, the one leading the room making decisions, carrying the responsibility for a large team, and operating at a pace that doesn't leave much margin. Early mornings, long days, constant output, and a schedule that can very easily take over if you allow it. He reached out about six months before becoming a dad for the first time. This was the decision to step into the next chapter of his life with intention before things compounded. He's building a family, leading a business. He's responsible for people at work and now at home, and he wanted his health to reflect that level of leadership, not just visually, aesthetically, although that's a part of it. He wanted to understand how to fuel his body in a way that matched the demands of his life. He wanted consistency. He wanted to feel strong, energized, and in control of something that had been pushed to the side for a very long time as he was building his business, he had a very real vision of the kind of dad he wanted to be present, strong, engaged, healthy and confident in his own skin. We'll breakdown his struggles and successes working together and I hope you hear yourself in his story.   Time Stamps:   (0:52) Type A CEO Case Study (3:01) Starting With Data (5:50) Nothing to Cut From (10:30) The Building Routines Phase (14:23) Life Isn't A Straight Line (17:38) The Recomposition and Metabolic Result (19:00) Everything Requires Energy (28:26) Ownership Through Investing In Coaching (30:30) Please Share This Episode ----------  Apply for SF Coaching Method  https://sarahfechter.ac-page.com/sfhq-cc Complimentary Health Content  https://sarahfechter.ac-page.com/Health_Wellness_Community ----------  Follow Me On Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/sarahfechter.ifbbpro/   Check Out My Website - https://www.sarahfechter.com ----------  This Podcast is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute the practice of medicine, nursing, other professional health care services, or any professional practice of any kind. We talk about the loss of her older sister Pandora and how saying the word “died” still lands with a kind of shock and finality. Cressida shares what she didn't expect about grief, the fear that lives in her body, the numb days that feel lonelier than tears, and the strange push pull of wanting to hold on while also wanting the suffering to end. We explore what it was like watching Pandora die in hospital, how her family tried to “be strong” and hide their tears until Pandora asked them not to, and why that shift towards honesty became a lesson in love and connection for all of them.We also talk about the way Cressida processes through creativity, writing a letter to Pandora in those final days and then finding herself unable to stop writing afterwards, not as memoir but through characters that could hold what felt unbearable. She reflects on motherhood, self doubt, and finding more confidence since having children, alongside the frustration of being put in a box by other people's assumptions. We end with what Pandora's death has clarified for her, the preciousness of ordinary moments, the desire to waste less time, and the meaning behind her podcast Lessons From Our Mothers, which grew out of recording her own mother's story and the wish to understand the women who made us. Hey there, welcome back to Special Education for Beginners! We're continuing our October series on writing IEPs that are clear, meaningful, and connected. Last week, on Episode 280, we talked about the PLAAFP and how it serves as the blueprint of the IEP. This week, we're taking the very next step: turning the needs you identified in the Present Levels into strong, measurable goals.Too often, IEPs end up with unsupported goals — goals that don't connect back to the Present Levels. In this episode, I walk you through how to avoid that trap and create goals that are directly linked to the student's needs, supported by baseline data, and easy for the entire IEP team to understand. Here's what you'll learn in this episode: ✅ How to highlight needs in the Present Levels and make them your roadmap ✅ Why baselines matter (and why I never start a goal at 0%) ✅ How to write goals that are ambitious but realistic, specific but not overcomplicated ✅ The importance of sticking to one skill per goal ✅ Why you don't need a goal for every single need — and what to do instead ✅ Tips for using parent-friendly language so everyone on the team understandsWhen your goals are aligned, the whole IEP feels purposeful and connected.

Real transformation is messy, painful, and rarely follows a linear path. Growth feels uncomfortable because it requires breaking through old limitations and embracing uncertainty as the doorway to your greatest potential.• Growth is not a straight line or a staircase but resembles a squiggly, unpredictable path• The ego craves certainty while real transformation thrives in uncertainty• Emotional tolerance shapes the pace of your growth—your ability to handle discomfort determines how quickly you'll transform• We're moving in spirals, not circles—each time you face similar challenges, you're approaching them from a higher perspective• Momentum is built in silence—real growth happens when nobody is watching• Setbacks and challenges aren't obstacles to growth but essential ingredients of it• The breakdown always precedes the breakthrough—your old limitations must break for new growth to emerge• Growth is a jungle gym, not a ladder—sometimes you have to move backward to ultimately move forward• The most beautiful transformations often look messy in the middle—just like childbirthIf you're finding value in these episodes, please share them with someone who might need to hear this message. You want the noise to quiet down? You want the weight loss spiral to end? You have to push through it. Because stopping just brings the pain right back.We also get into the reality that nobody loses weight in a straight line. Not even the Gladyses. It's bumpy. It's annoying. It's normal. In this episode, I chat with Tracey, a long-time reader and listener of The Happy Saver who first came on my radar through her detailed Debt Free Questionnaire in 2022. Tracey and her husband have reached what's known as Coast FI—meaning they already have enough money invested that, even if they never added another dollar to their investments, by the time they reach 65, it will have grown to their required amount. This gives them the flexibility to reduce their working hours in their self-employed HR roles if they choose. We dig into how Tracey got herself to this point and where she plans to take it from here. It's an interesting episode, with quite a bit of complexity, but I think it's a fascinating one, as this couple have independently and collectively created a lot of options for themselves. Tracey said she has had a “lumpy” journey, and that “there is no need to go anywhere in a straight line.” The key for her is that she is making progress. She is a firm believer in setting up an investment, making regular contributions to it, but not being afraid to make changes and do things differently as you continue to research and learn new information.
