Having to deal with breast cancer and mastectomy is one thing, but add a failed marriage to the mix with a 18 months old baby is definitely icing on the cake. Chemotherapy, radiation, treatment, surgeries after surgeries, it never ends. Susan felt it was a challenge she never expected to happen but it did. Life threw her hardballs but she figured out a way to heal from within and came out a winner. She accepted her faith, her challenges and made sure she worked on herself before working on anything else that was going on in her marriage. Susan never considered giving up and she learned to maneuver through these challenges and find solace in all of it. She became a life coach and helps other cancer survivor to also find peace in their own path. It is important to remember that no one has any control of their destiny, or control over their relationship as you can't really force the other person to behave the way you want. You need to work on anything you care about the best way possible and let the Universe take care of the rest. Positive thinking is key and as long as you do whatever it takes to make things work the best way possible, you can never live life with regret wondering if outcomes would have changed based on the amount of effort invested. Susan is the best proof showing better outcomes and worked towards making the changes she needed to live a happier life. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/happinessjourney/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/happinessjourney/support

Ambers guest, Susan De Lorenzo says, "You live you life by either design or default". And, there's a lot of truth in that! In this episode we start out talking about Susan's "dark night of the soul"...or dark nights; and how she used hers to help her live a more joy filled, authentic life. You can do the same whether you're in your dark night or already through it even! Susan is an Author, Speaker and Certified Transformational Life Coach who focuses on helping other women who are emerging from life-altering adversities themselves and guides them to evaluate the insights and wisdom that such times hold (like living through a global pandemic). In this conversation you'll hear about how after a year of fighting and surviving invasive breast cancer, Susan was dealt another life altering blow when her husband at the time, told her he wanted to leave the marriage. Then she shares some of the wisdom she's gathered through this experience, along with a little bit about some other personal challenges she's overcome...with advice on how you can overcome your own challenges, big or small...and get in the drivers seat of your life. Shoot Susan an email at susan@susandelorenzo.com so you can stay connected to her and get notified about the release of her upcoming book, "Pulling the Gems from Adversity".
Susan De Lorenzo knows adversity firsthand. As a certified transformational life coach, speaker, and author of the book Pulling the Gems from Adversity, Susan takes us on a journey through her adversities of cancer and divorce. Through those adversities, Susan became stronger and more resilient than ever. “I thought the universe was kicking my butt, but it was actually cleaning my house.” Susan appreciates the joys of life, and lets her quest for success and happiness drive her forward. “What is inside of us is greater than any circumstance around us. That is the source that leads us out of darkness and into the next greatest version of ourselves.” In this episode, Susan De Lorenzo explores learning from adversity and creating joy in your life. Discover for Yourself How to Overcome Adversity What have you found to be the most prominent struggles your clients work to overcome after adversity? Your book, Pulling the Gems from Adversity, brings the reader through five stages that you describe as "from Adversity to Awesome." Can you briefly cover these stages? In your book, you dedicate an entire section to looking backwards. Why would anyone coming out of adversity want to do that? What is it you most hope the reader will take away from reading your book? What are the 3 most important things we can do to support ourselves during personal crises? What is your top recommendation for people just coming out of adversity? Globally, we've been in quite an adversity. What are recommendations regarding how we can best support ourselves and each other? What perspective can we adopt to create a strong center? Are we ever “done” with overcoming an adversity? As a survivor of invasive breast cancer whose marriage dissolved as treatment ended, Susan De Lorenzo draws on her personal journey as well as her training as a life coach to give clients, readers and listeners the mindsets and tools to rebuild their lives and create something even greater through a higher platform of awareness that gives inspiration to dream bigger and go for more. She says that when we come out of life altering adversities, the first thing we need to understand is that it's not just other people who can overcome adversity. We can too. We need to be open to the idea that 'this is for me too' so how can we design our lives so we get to a place where we love our life. How can we build and learn so we overcome beliefs, conditioning and the 'not good enough' syndrome.

Life Design Radio with Susan De Lorenzo: From Adversity to Awesome: Holding Firm In a Storm!
Into every life some rain must fall. But what if its a storm? A deluge of tragedy and trauma? When theres no rainbow in sight, what can we do to sustain and support ourselves in the midst of dark times? Life Coach and cancer survivor Susan De Lorenzo offers up personal experiences, mindsets and tools to keep us going when times get super tough.
Life Design Radio with Susan De Lorenzo: From Adversity to Awesome: Reframe Your Failure For Success!
Failure. Even the word makes us shudder. Most of us have been conditioned to feel ashamed and humiliated at the prospect of failing. Yet if we review any great accomplishment in human history, they all involved failure, and usually more than one! Today, Life Coach Susan De Lorenzo shares how we can reframe our perception of failure to turn it in to a brave move that leads to success if we keep going.
Susan De Lorenzo says most of us have it backwards when going for significant changes in our lives. Most folks believe they must do something before they can have something so that they can be the someone living their dream life. Today Susan discusses how the reverse formula, beginning with being then doing, brings us to having the life that lights us up from the inside out.
How does one begin to construct a bridge to a new life after traumatic change such as loss, injury or illness? Susan De Lorenzo, survivor of invasive cancer and divorce and job loss shares potential pathways and views out of the dark times to create something beautiful that will serve us as we continue on.
Did you know that we can never outperform our self-esteem? Bummer, huh? But heres the good news: We can absolutely raise our self-esteem and thereby experience a greater version of ourselves and our lives. Our self-esteem is closely knit to our perceived level of deserving. My coaching clients and I work deeply with this Universal Law (Life matches us where we are decoded in terms of the vibrations we emit). We check in on self-talk and our level of deserving, and then take steps to improve in these areas. In order to achieve a higher level of existence, we must become a match through greater self-awareness, so that we can release what has not been serving us and replace it with new patterns that bring greater self-esteem and personal success.
Who would run towards an adversity? None of us! And yet, most of us have had our lives disrupted by something big. Susan De Lorenzo, survivor of invasive breast cancer followed by the crumbling of her marriage shares that when we begin to see adversity as a delivery system for greater awareness and new beginnings, our lives can actually change for the better.
